the original song sounds like a tragic reminiscence of a life as a car alarm gradually fades to a heart monitor. like the music video for it would be of important moments in a life, a kind of reminder of all this person has done.
this version sounds like it'd have the same exact video, but with an undertone of _why they're not going to die today_

Some of the reharmonizations from the bass part don’t strike my personal fancy, however this does, indeed, go *hard* dude. Especially on the ‘refrain’ of this piece with the octaves from the bass… [chef’s kiss]

Also when I was a kid, there was a saying that a bassist has to know how to play drums, if even just some basic stuff - that helps with understanding bass lines and holding the groove as a single unit with the drummer.
