A friend once showed me a making of from the German Hip-Hop artist Jan Delay. The dude (that looked kinda stoned while producing the album) asked his drummer if he could add a bit more "dadadaa dadadaa", his drummer looked for a few seconds at him and then started to hit the drums with more "dadadaa dadadaa" 😂
Many of them just sound totally awesome! Shows one of the best ways to get ideas for new riffs just thinking of a melody and singing it. And shows that you still have to be a capable guitarist to perform it in the best way
The “let’s go” riff at 5:05 is just so good!! … gosh I am full of admiration for how beautifully the riffs are done .. the dry humour and the really intelligent video editing !!

You demonstrate one of the most important skills to have as a musician, the ability to HEAR the music. Too many (guitarists especially) get too focused on technical playing ability and the theory of music. I learned before the internet, self taught, so it was hours and hours of -play part -listen very carefully to hear what the guitar was doing with all the other parts in your face as well -attempt to replicate it -play what you think it was along with the song and now try to hear if you match, again with all the other audio in the way -repeat This develops the ear for music like nothing else I have seen. Great video series, that first riff was great.
I very nearly bought that guitar a couple of years ago! Tried it out in the shop, loved how it looked, but wasn’t sure so I didn’t. You make it sound f-ing awesome, and I now really wish I had! 😂
You always manage to find the most interesting concepts for your videos. Singing riffs is nothing new in a creation process, but having your viewers send them in for you to write into music? Love it!
That reminds me I sometimes make myself these voice messages middle of the night but always forget them. They’re always the best riff I ever thought of..
Nighttime is usually when our brains are the most creative. I also always come up with great riffs, melodies or lyrics and most of it - not everything - is gone the next morning. If I really wanted to conserve my ideas I would write things down or hum them into my phone...but I guess they're not _that_ important to me then.
