    I worked in Everett on the 747-400 and 767-300 and worked at GE Aviation. Feel bad for Boeing however the decision to put a giant GE leap engine on a old aircraft design frame was a poor decision. Shortcuts always come back to bite you. GE should be held accountable also for letting Boeing think it would work.

      The MAX 7 is more comparable to the -300/-700 in size. Slightly longer though. It would’ve been cool to see a MAX 6 to be the size of a -500/-600, but there’s not really a market for aircraft shrinks. The -600 failed, and now the MAX 7 and A319neo are both failing compared to their other respective variants. It seems now extra capacity is more important than sacrificing that for range.

    I predict it will NOT take too long before everyone realizes that Southwest Airlines is partly to blame for the 737MAX mess. During the 1990's development of the 737NG and again during the 737MAX, Boeing kowtowed to the desires of SWA cost-cutting! Whenever Boeing wanted to add a safety device (e.g. autobrakes, electronic checklist, better navigation displays etc) SWA declined unless it added no cost to the jet. So the blame of why the 737MAX has the same cockpit as the 1960's model can be put squarely on Southwest Airlines. Boeing simply gave it's best customer what it ask for...

    With hindsight, it would have been better to put the leap engines on a "757 max" and stop making new versions of he 737 as it is an old airframe design from the 60s which was too dificult to retrofit with large diameter engines. At least the 757 has long legs for bigger engines.

      It will still be an unstable platform that cannot be fixed. The plane unlike any other needs the MCAS to counter the aircrafts tendency to go into a stall situation becauce of the new engine placement. Boeing screwed up . They have pushed the 737 design to far. They should have designed a completely new aircraft but they decided for the sake of pure profit to push this design past its limitations and it has cost them.
      Weather the traveling public will trust this aircraft , Boeing and ghe FAA is another question. I have been asked by at least 40 people how to avoid the Max when it starts flying again. They want nothing to do with it. Ond of ghe people I talked to even put ghe info I gave them and had it put in the company newsletter which is seen by over 2000 people nation wide.
      Trust will be Boeings biggest hurdle with this aircraft. They screamed that the aircraft was safe even after the 2nd and everyone eles had grounded the aircraft except Canada and the USA . Well they either lied or were to blinded by the possible financial losses to be able to admit the truth, either way they dishonored the public trust that they relie on bso much.

    • @Esco4Lifeee
      @Esco4Lifeee 4 года назад

      MCAS is deactivated by design if flaps are not retracted.
      346 lives could have been saved if Boeing at least informed this to the airlines and the FAA, instead they chose to simply mention to switch off the stab trim cut out to disable MCAS after the Lion Air crash which sadly later everyone found out doing that it didn’t help to deal with MCAS that had the aircraft out of trim already making it impossible to recover manually leading to the Ethiopian Airlines crash few months later.
      It was fucking criminal 😡

    • @williamstephens9945
      @williamstephens9945 5 лет назад +1

      Stalling is nothing to do with the engine. It's what happens if tje plane flies too slow or with the nose pitched up too steeply.

    • @jasontraxler2946
      @jasontraxler2946 5 лет назад +1

      Laminar airflow over the top of a plane's wing relative to the airflow under the wing is what holds a plane in the air. When the relationship of airflow over and under the wing is disrupted, the lift decreases. As the lift decreases, the plane enters what is called a stall and begins to fall. The pilot recovers from a stall by positioning the attitude of the plane in the airstream in a predetermined manner to recover the correct relationship of the airflows over and under the wing and reestablish lift.
      There is nothing new about aerodynamics, but engineers test the envelope to develope greater efficiencies. In the case of the 737MAX pre-existing constraints resulted in an envelope that put the engineers' skills at the raw edge.

    From Wikipedia: The 737 is unusual in that it still uses a hydro-mechanical flight control system, similar to the Boeing 707 (from 1957) and typical of the period, that transmits pilot commands to control surfaces by steel cables run through the fuselage and wings rather than by an electrical fly-by-wire system as used in all of the Airbus fleet and all later Boeing models. This has been raised as a safety issue because of the impracticality of duplicating such a mechanical cable-based system in the way that an electrical or electronic system can be. This leaves the flight controls as a single point of failure, for example by metal fragments from an uncontained engine failure penetrating the wings or fuselage.

    Forgot to add that the 737 max has an automatic system that pulls the nose down that will cause immediate doom

    I want Boeing to bring back and max the MD80s. An MD80MAX with engine exhaust chevrons, swept wings, and Boeing sky interior would be nice and competitive with the CS200/A220s

    • @tomstravels520
      @tomstravels520 4 года назад +1

      Putting bigger engines in the back of the plane is going to severely upset the wright balance. They’ll have to add weights to the nose or it’ll tip over and then it’ll waste the fuel efficiency

    "Most productive" factory means most deadliest... I would rather fly on old 757's or MD-80,90' that have been tested by life for decades, rather than some brand new aircraft, with new unknown electronics and software... Old airplane models are the most perfect ones, because they have been modified after so many accidents almost to perfection... These new efficient trash is dangerous... Efficient things don't last long...

      Engine issues have caused the backup, CFM has been under pressure as the LEAP architecture is being used by both A320NEO and 737MAX, with Pratt powered A320N’s having issues more LEAP powered ones are being built meaning you’re getting too much demand for LEAP engines than is possible to build

    • @census3370
