The crazy thing is that there are Koreans who slept through all of this and woke up to news about how their president tried to establish a dictatorship, fellow Koreans protesting against it and it all resolving before you even woke up. But it's definitely good for South Korea! It will definitely strengthen their sense of democracy and how in the end the citizens have the power, not the politicians they voted for!

He failed on multiple areas of trying to be Palpatine. 1. Palpatine was so charismatic and played the political game so well the senate basically gave him the dictatorship. 2. Palpatine was orchestrating both sides of the potential war 3. Palpatine spent years laying the groundwork for executing his plan
He needs to have “inside man” in military. As far as we know, the ministry of defense is loyal to him and perhaps he thought it’s possible because he had him. We, as Koreans, still cannot understand why the President did what he did. The three possibilities we speculated on, based on our collective imagination during the vote, are as follows: 1. He woke up after drinking heavily the night before. 2. He was inspired by a coup d’état movie. 3. He invested in Bitcoin.

Fun fact(not so fun fact as a Korean myself) Fact 1: Yoon is a former Prosecutor General(similar to the Attorney General in America, but only does Prosecutor things) in Korea. He placed many former prosecutors who were close to him in various key positions in the administration, regardless of their expertise. So Koreans often sarcastically refer to their country as the ‘Republic of Prosecutors’. Fact 2: The soldiers mobilized for this martial law are the 707 Special Forces and the 1st Airborne Division (1 gong-su, 1 공수). The 707 is a special force deployed when there is a counterterrorism mission. Several celebrities from the unit were popular as RUclipsrs and TV appearances. However, due to this martial law mobilization, the perception of the unit has fallen to the bottom. In the case of the 1st Airborne Division, ironically, it is the same unit that was mobilized for the military coup that occurred 40 years ago. They have more experience in Coup than an actual fucking war. Fact 3: In the vote held at the National Assembly to nullify martial law, only a few(18 people) member of the ruling party (국민의 힘) participated. Most of them simply expressed their opinion, “We are against martial law,” at the party headquarters located one block away from the National Assembly, and watched the situation unfold. Most of the people who climbed over the National Assembly wall to take their seats were members of the opposition party.
Bro your Fact 3 is actually fake. Ruling party has two group in it(친윤 president Yoon-friendly and 친한 party leader Han-friendy). party leader Han and his supportive parliamnts also get in to national assembly and join the vote.

As South Korean. I would like to explain some stuff about Yoon and what happened. -190 were able to make it into the parliament and 190 agreed to remove martial law. 17 of them were in Yoon's party. the rest of the Yoon's party went to their "base". -Last time martial law was declared it was 1979, called 10.26 incident when Park Chung Hee died. -Yoon was accused of watching too much far-right youtube channels because it was distorting his views. -the Right always calls the Left "NK spies" and the Left calls the Right "Japanese warcrime supporters". So if you see what Yoon says he talks about protecting the country against the North. -Yoon's party's name 국민의힘 is accused of coping far right party of Japan "國民の力" also 국민의힘 is grammatically incorrect, kindergarten level grammar, it is 국민의 힘. which did raise some eyebrows. -Lee Jae-Myung ( the live streaming guy) in the opposite party isn't really better either. There are things like people around him having unfortunate accidents and stuff. -Word is that the military was apologizing as they were pulling out. They didn't like what they were doing either. Also, since all able men go to the military, the military force that was there kinda looked like how a drill sergeant looks at a new trainee. (People are feeling sorry for those guys). -Word is that the Police were confused af. -Another word is someone in Yoon's party said in something like "the enemy force was too great". meaning they saw the citizens as enemy.
As an American living in Seoul, I thank you for this info, but most of us non-Koreans won't understand a lot of it. I just need to state something that a lot of Americans won't get: There is often corruption on both sides, and that doesn't matter what country it is. Many Americans/Westerners are highly radicalized and have no common sense or logic, so try to villainize entire parties because of their distorted worldviews. Meaning, Yoon being right-leaning, there'll be lots of very low IQ comparisons to Trump, even though Korea's last two leaders before Yoon were left-leaning and also highly unpopular (with Jae-in Moon being a NK and communist China sympathizer) and one of them even got life in prison for her corruption (although Geun-hye Park wasn't technically a Democrat; just liberal.) In short: People need to stop trying to make this a "left vs right" issue; political corruption is common everywhere.
Lmao, this is actually typical for a SK president. Look at their last 10 presidents and the various corrupt things they did. SK has even worse leaders than China.
For those who don't follow South Korean history, the President's used to routinely declare martial law and freeze out the parliament before the 80's, even arresting key members for a couple days during critical votes. It really looks like he took a page out of his grandfathers playbook with this move.😅
Yeah with how things going in my country (Myanmar), you do not want martial law no matter what. It was the best outcome because of the Korean people take action immediately.
This happened this way because we went through countless tragedies, exactly like current Myanmar. After 20 or so years, you guys are gonna get a leader who tries a coup and fails because the people know it leads to a bad road. The best possible solution is to educate the public and have better politics but that's hard to implement. All in all the situations of Myanmar are extremely difficult to handle with power within the country. If there were democratic countries that are strong and willing to help, that would solve the situation, maybe.
Most of those soldiers who were dispatched were probably conscripted as well, and were very much aware of what they were doing. It's not like they were his personal body guards. They are not some brainwashed ponds, but fellow koreans from 21st century, just doing their duties in uniforms. I think they well deserve respect for keeping things calm, safe, restricted, and behaving in such a well disciplined manner where no one were killed nor hurt during this mayhem. It is also amazing how both parties (army and protesters) understood each other's situations, and tried to deescalate the tensions. It is pure miracle how no one were hurt last night. In some of the videos one of the soldier even apologizes to those citizens.
What's sad is my fellow Americans are filled with so many chemicals making them docile and cowardly that they would NEVER grab onto a rifle like that out of fear of being hurt. They're so desensitized and disillusioned by video games they think they'd be more useful or brave than they actually are. I hope if this day comes my fellow Americans will FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT just as hard. It WILL COME. And soon.
This is so inspiring. If this doesn't inspire citizens all over the world to MANUALLY get rid of corrupt politicians I don't know what will. This should be making NATIONAL headlines.

News anchor-turned politician Ms. Ahn Gwi-ryeong is the one who grabbed the soldier's rifle and demanded to know if he had no shame in marching on civilians while so armed. She is also a descendant of a S.Korean freedom fighter.
A few fun facts behind this turmoil : 1. One of the congressmen who voted against the martial law, Park Ji-won, has actually experienced 17 INSTANCES of emergency/security martial law throughout his whole life. Did I mention that he is 82 years old today? Or did I mention that he also got through the police barricade? Or did I forgot to mention he was once a head of a national intelligence agency? And did I mention he has a motherfXXkin glass eye? DID I ALSO MENTION HE WAS HALF DRUNK THAT DAY? 2. The woman who grappled with soldier was not an ordinary person. She was also one of the spokesperson of the opposition coalition, Ahn Gwi-ryong. 3. About 140 years ago, on the same day with the coup attempt - A band of radical progressive political faction (개화파) also attemped a coup against the old regime - aiming for a Meiji Restoration-ish reforms. They only lasted 3 days. Well, at least they lasted more than this. 4. Ah, yes. The barricade. Due to South Korea's rather turbulent political backgrounds and oppressive military juntas, quite a lot of politicians and their aides have some experience in "street warfare." i.e. barricading againsy police line, making makeshift tear-gas masks, and everyones favorite - the Molotovs. While these were somewhat necessary skills in protests against the regime, it turned the lawmaking business rather bloody and seige warfare-like when they got the badges. Those practices were outlawed in 2012. But apparently- they still got it. I guess old habits die hard.

@Inspectorzinn2 If you think soldiers are the only heroes, you're sadly mistaken. Sure, the soldiers and cops do their duty for the most part, and we respect and honour their sacrifice and service. However, it's also the bravery of regular people standing up to tyranny that keeps the forces of evil at bay, as was clear in what just happened in South Korea. Standing up to a soldier, with no weapons of your own, knowing you could die, now that's true courage.
@ it may be courageous but historically it has never stopped dictators from seizing control. From China, to Russia, to Iran. Name a dictatorship, and I show you a pile of dead citizens who stood up and died for nothing. Dictators who were stopped were always due to military action, including the during the fall of the USSR. The soldiers didn’t massacre the civilians leading to democracy. @@calamityjehn Soldiers don’t make an oath to serve the people. If anything, the soldiers betrayed their oath to protect the people. The fact that 707th (the army guys) where there purely on orders but are not willing to see the coup go through... why is that ? multiple factors: 1. The commander of 707th deployed his men half heartedly. He knew the President was wrong but had to follow through with the orders as it was his duty. The same goes for the men. He probably ordered them to just show up and act to do something Infront of the media. The Operators themselves don't want to be there. 2. All the operators are geared up in DA (Direct Actions) equipment, 707th is an elite counter terrorist tier 1 team of South Korea and of the best but their main mission is not riot control. No saying they can't but they just don't want to, if the men really wanna crowd control they would have thrown flashbangs and smoke grenades but they didn't. 3. All are armed with sim rounds (sim munitions are like paint ball rounds but simulate like a actual bullet with the shells ejecting out when fired, its still considered non lethal) this is indicated by the Blue mags on the soldiers and the blue bolt system on their rifles, pistols didn't have mags too. 4.Non of the soldiers beat the living shit out of the civilians, yes they might get in trouble but these are professionals, no one was majorly hurt in the event as they were only seen blocking the civilians, one incident I saw tho was a crazy chick who tried to grab an operator's rifle, let me tell u something grabbing a soldiers rifle during a civil unrest is not the brightest move, she was asking to get shot at that point, but the operator upon her letting go of his rifle turned away as if it never happened, trust me it it was some infantry grunt the least she will get is a rifle butt smacked to the face. 5. Getting into 707th is the most difficult thing u can ask for, for a soldier, he had to prove himself to be the best of the best cus the selection rate for 707th is lest than 5% so only the fittest and the smartest are accepted into the unit. they couldn't afford to not follow orders as it's their careers on the line. The least the could do was what they did that night. being half hearted.. 6. He said that the barricades need a bulldozer to go through ... well not exactly 707th are highly trained to deal with barricade stuff.. what makes u think that they cant get in with Shape charge, plastic explosive and cutting tools, or they could have fast rope in from the rooftops via helicopters...again like i said they don't want to. If the operators were fully committed that night could have ended differently. I hope ya'll understand the POV of the soldiers too they are not at wrong here..

This Kpop wave is part of Korea, BUT Korea is much more deep, complex, politically and socially aware and sophisticated. Kudos to people of Korea, it really feels like victory of people over the narcissistic power addicted dictators.

Living in Korea has its surprises, and I must say, commenting on Mujin's channel on an issue where I live is like pulling a 5-star weapon in Genshin Impact-totally unexpected ! But the real shocker ? The mysterious declaration that no one saw coming. Honestly, I learned about it from my dad, who's not even in Korea ! I spent the entire night glued to the live broadcast, witnessing absolute chaos unfold. There were riots between the public and the military, and I even saw parliament members climbing walls in a desperate attempt to get into the assembly to vote against the declaration. Then, out of nowhere, it was lifted! We’re all left scratching our heads, trying to make sense of the madness. What on earth was President Yoon thinking ? It was definitely a political suicide and everyone already started talking ohhh here we go, another president to be sent off to jail🤣

Fun fact(not so fun fact as a Korean myself)
Fact 1: Yoon is a former Prosecutor General(similar to the Attorney General in America, but only does Prosecutor things) in Korea.

He didn't even have the bare minimum which is military backing. With how the South Korean military is organized, it's very difficult to attempt a coup now anyway though

Military running the government,
From what I learned from history in my lifetime

As a Burmese, I 1000% agree with you.
South Korea used to be under a brutal military dictatorship. Thats why the people wont let this slide at all
@@tommykaung5882 Blessings to Burma you have a beautiful country I hope your country gets it's peace back soon.(Probably not gonna happen tho wars are coming are all over the world)

There is one country in Africa where the military government took over and actually seemed to have made it better.

-Another word is someone in Yoon's party said in something like "the enemy force was too great". meaning they saw the citizens as enemy.
you have luck he wasent popular, because if someone is popular he can do practically anything
@@TheFalseDragon that is true, But it is kinda hard to like the guy when he is this incompetent
Meaning, Yoon being right-leaning, there'll be lots of very low IQ comparisons to Trump, even though Korea's last two leaders before Yoon were left-leaning and also highly unpopular (with Jae-in Moon being a NK and communist China sympathizer) and one of them even got life in prison for her corruption (although Geun-hye Park wasn't technically a Democrat; just liberal.)
In short: People need to stop trying to make this a "left vs right" issue; political corruption is common everywhere.

It's inspiring to see how the South Korean people fought tooth and nail against tyranny here. This is how you preserve democracy. By believing in it.
Isnt south korea a republic? Preserving peoples voices cant always be acheived by just a democracy😅
South Korea may be a democracy but the United States is a Republic.
All country's are oligarchy's. Democracy does not exist. You can only vote for criminals that does not care about you. That is not real democracy !
Lmao, this is actually typical for a SK president. Look at their last 10 presidents and the various corrupt things they did. SK has even worse leaders than China.
@@5SecondsOfFrame Can you tell me how exactly are these two terms mutually exclusive?
For those who don't follow South Korean history, the President's used to routinely declare martial law and freeze out the parliament before the 80's, even arresting key members for a couple days during critical votes. It really looks like he took a page out of his grandfathers playbook with this move.😅
Yeah with how things going in my country (Myanmar), you do not want martial law no matter what.
It was the best outcome because of the Korean people take action immediately.
Yea martial law very scary (I’m Burmese too)
Hope ur staying safe bro and I hope democracy returns to your country one day
Myanmar is heading for something even worse than dictatorship ( total anarchy & civil war ) & I don't want that at all
I really cannot imagine what y'all must be going through, so please stay safe and I hope democracy returns to Myanmar someday. :(
This happened this way because we went through countless tragedies, exactly like current Myanmar.
That was wild! Glad the Korean people fought back and won.
What's sad is my fellow Americans are filled with so many chemicals making them docile and cowardly that they would NEVER grab onto a rifle like that out of fear of being hurt. They're so desensitized and disillusioned by video games they think they'd be more useful or brave than they actually are. News anchor-turned politician Ms. Ahn Gwi-ryeong is the one who grabbed the soldier's rifle and demanded to know if he had no shame in marching on civilians while so armed. She is also a descendant of a S.Korean freedom fighter.
Excellent reporting. Now it all makes sense to me. Thank you for this coverage!!
A few fun facts behind this turmoil :

You think hundreds of people didn’t do that in 1980 and died achieving nothing? The only hero’s are the soldiers not pulling the triggers and wasting all the civilians like Korea and China did in 1980
@Inspectorzinn2 This is some ass backwards logic. A real hero abd soldier is not one that betrays the people for a wannabe dictator.
The fact that 707th (the army guys) where there purely on orders but are not willing to see the coup go through...
why is that ?
multiple factors:
It’s so funny to me that only the president thought this coup was a good idea to the point even the military thought it was too messed up to comply with
Thanks for the information, appreciate it! You are a great person for giving this !
