Thanks Mike 👍
I’m a carp fisherman generally but heading down to looe in Cornwall for my holidays. I never have done pier or rock fishing before so just purchased a little telescopic 8 ft spinner rod. Not the best kit I’m sure but should be a bit of fun and will hopefully catch something. Love your vids as I have no clue what I’m doing but you have shown me enough to get me started
You can use a carp rod and reel for sea fishing just change your line to 10lb
Good one Gary! Can't beat some tasty Mackerel for the pan! I must have missed those Herring lures in Lidl, perhaps it was while we were away. Stay safe & well - Dave. 🎣🎣👍👍
Thanks dave, yeah they go quick when they get them in. Take care 🎣 👍

#tightlines
Thanks mate, tight lines 👍
Great video mate, was that a basking shark 🦈 behind you on the end of your video? 🤔 tight lines 🎣👍
Thanks mate, it was a kayaker I think. Tight lines 👍
LoL 🤣😂🤣🎣
After watching this I want to give this method ago. Using feathers with a spinner seems like a great approach.
My rod is a 9ft 10-30g and I have a 3000 Magsealed reel. Would this be up to it? It easily handles double figure Pike. But 3/4 mackerel at once? I've no idea.
I've had 3 at once on my other 3000 reel before and it was a bit of a struggle to reel them in but handled 2 no bother.
Gary I'm completely clueless when it comes to sea fishing im from Consett so its a bit of a trek.. could i possibly shadow you and gain sone knowledge so my fishing trips could possibly be better?
I've managed to punch out some feathers with a 4oz an acc 9:58eptable distance but I've always thought of mackerel like brown trout of the sea, lighter tackle more fun
Hi I was wondering where in the uk are you fishing from to catch mackerel. Thanks
Hi I'm fishing in South Shields, North East England.
where do you shop for your feathers and spinners in the area? also when is the best time to start fishing for mackerel in southshields? moved to newcastle a year ago and really want to start fishing again, has been too long.
I either get them from reelsport tackle shop in south shields or off amazon. The mackerel usually turn up around June sometimes a bit earlier if the weather is warm and the sea is settled.
@@fishingintheukgarywoodthanks so much, any advice on fish to go for during the april/may months? have heard pollock stick around but not sure of the best feathers or lures to use for them.
Try the razorclaw silver minnows they work well for pollock and colefish that should be about the piers and rocks when the sea is settled. There's also bass and flatfish about on the beaches at this time of year but mainly taken on bait.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thanks! does the counting method work when spinning for pollock as well as mackerel? or should you have your lures closer to the surface or bottom. that's also good to know about bass and flatfish too, cheers.
It works to work out the depth of water your fishing and for figuring out on the day what depth the fish are feeding at for mackerel and pollock.
Still no sign in the north west! 2 days on the rocks so far empty handed!
Hopefully they will turn up soon, they were really late around here this year.
gary what is the name of the rod you are using , would you mind telling it ? thanks .
It's a 10ft sonik vaderx.
Can you get pollack there too? Thinking about popping down sometime i don’t live far 🎣🐟
Yes, I've had a few from there.
@@fishingintheukgarywood size pollack?
💜👍💜🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟
Wr bouts was that?? I've fished all along that coast line and don't recognised it 😮
It's the leas just past frenchmans bay.
@fishingintheukgarywood cheers buddy 👍 I'm gonna hit that mark soon.. is there any safe parking .. for I'll be fishing overnight
You can park along the coast road but I'm not sure how safe it will be, you could park in the street near the Bamburgh pub and walk through. it might be safer to park overnight in a street.
@fishingintheukgarywood well! When I go to Seaham I normally park at the hall car park and when I'm up Northumberland I can near the shore line . And sleep in me van happ days .. anyway thanks for the info...
Are you near Penrhyn caravan Site mate?
No mate, it's south shields.
@@fishingintheukgarywood I thought it was after stopping up until 2.00am watching your other films, great spot off the rocks.
I went other day mate on the bay and wasnt nothin about fished full rising tide
Yeah its been a bit slow on the rocks lately ive been a few times previously and had nothing just glad they have finally shown up.
@@fishingintheukgarywood do you think they will be on the night tide tonigbt wind little bit gusty but not constant. Might try again never been on a night . Where would u reccomend. The bay again ? Or pier
They are in from the rocks and pier. I was on the rocks yesterday morning for hw and had a few and I've been on the pier today and had a few about an hour after hw i was late getting on. I seen quite a few being pulled in on the end of the pier aswell. I'm just editing the pier video now should be on by about 5 or 6.
@@fishingintheukgarywood thznk you verry much mate i live stanley so bit of a treck me n me mate gana have a look through for about 8 fish till after 9
