In the late 1990's, Denny's began experimenting with a 1950's themed retro style diner layout in some locations. At one time there may have been as many as 40 across the United States, though it's unclear how many remain as of 2024. This location has been closed and stripped of its Denny's identity for several years, though there's no mistaking the design. Join me for a walkthrough of this once bustling diner, including "flashbacks" to when the restaurant was open. 0:00 Introduction 0:10 Exterior Shots 0:20 FLASHBACK #1 0:40 Exterior (Cont.) 1:14 FLASHBACK #2 1:30 Exterior (Cont.) 2:15 FLASHBACK #3 2:35 Exterior (Cont.) 2:50 Lobby 3:18 Dining Floor and Counter 3:23 FLASHBACK #4 3:30 Dining Floor (Cont.) 3:50 FLASHBACK #5 4:09 Dining Floor (Cont.) 4:24 FLASHBACK #6 4:36 Dining Floor (Cont.) 4:50 FLASHBACK #7 5:02 Dining Floor (Cont.) 5:16 FLASHBACK #8 5:38 Restrooms 6:24 Dining Floor (Cont.) 7:00 Front Prep Area 7:20 Walk-In Coolers 8:18 Rear Prep Area 8:37 Office 9:13 Cook Line 10:15 Exterior Photos 11:20 Interior Photots 14:05 Outro and End Cards NOTE: The "flashback" clips, included for dramatic effect, were in fact filmed at an entirely different Denny's Classic Diner location that is still in operation as of 2024 (Warwick, RI). So...is the 'Flashback' actually a different restaurant? I ask because I found the location shown in that part of the video pretty easily and the Denny's website shows it as an active restaurant, Google street view has it as Dennys branded in October 2023 and the Google page for the restaurant has photos taken inside just 4 weeks ago where it's clearly a still functional Denny's restaurant.
Yup! I did mention it in a note in the video description and a pinned comment (that the "flashbacks" were filmed at a still-operating Denny's), though I didn't say specifically which location it is. There are definitely differences that don't match up: the overhang on the front entrance, the floor tile, shape of the doors, the color and arrangement of booth seating, etc.
@@marcberm ok good - I thought I was going crazy or slipped into some sort of alternate dimension where it had been both active and abandoned at the same time 😂 Very cool looking building. Reminds me a little bit of the Ruby’s restaurants here in Southern California. Sorry I missed that note!
