Well young lady, I started lorry driving in the early 70s & used to love driving (H.P.C., I.A.M. for lorries, driving instructor & loads to 80 tonnes & trombones to 60+ feet). Times when pride in all aspects of the job was everything. I'm only just learning about laptops & of all the driving blogs (not many) I've watched, yours is the only professional one I've seen. Your attitude & calmness are exemplary! You know your worth & don't have to push your self importance to the front. I know that perfection in animals doesn't exist but, for me, you are as close to the perfect woman as it's possible to be. Sorry but I think this ol' fart has fallen a bit in love with you. Stay safe pretty one & remember that as a professional driver it is your duty to look after the amateurs who ALWAYS do the unexpected, :)
Thank you for the compliments. I’ve not been a “young lady” for a while 😂. Really glad you enjoy the channel. I’m not always cool, I do argue with the GPS when I’m in a rush and she pops up with, “there is a delay on your route”, but she never changes her mind! 😂😂
Hi Sherralin. I've also noticed when approaching villages, there are signs to tell you how many zebra crossings there are. I must admit, the town you just passed through (at the start), there's lots, have never seen so many🤣. As you're driving towards Tours down the lovely road, I noticed on a sign, Chatilion. We actually stayed there as an overnighter on our way down to the Dordogne. The camp-site was in the grounds of a chateau. Lovely place. We' driven from Manchester to Chatilion in one go, driving through the night and going via Newhaven/Dieppe ferry😉. Even though we visited there a couple of times over the years, we never visited Futuresope
Another class video as always Ms Ballard. I love to see footage off the motorways for a change. There's something about those French villages. Certainly do it for me😊 thanks for posting and take care.
Good morning Sherralin from sunny ☀️ Tenerife 😊 love your videos as they’re so informative especially for new drivers 👍🏻 I’m a map man as I can’t use sat-nav lol 😆 66 now still driving U.K. so it’s really lovely travelling along with you giving me so many happy memories of my European days 🤩 Take care love Stevie ❤xx
Lovely video, nice way to see French villages stress free and completely agree about reading maps, I have the same fascination with maps, keep up the good work.
Nice camera work and great shots through the towns. Don't know about those toilets though, look very Asian and there in France. Thanks for an enjoyable 26 minutes. I do like that yellow truck.
Perfect way for me to start a Sunday, cup of coffee and a drive through some beautiful French countryside. Love the old buildings with the trees and grass lined verges. The sunrise was definitely spectacular, must be a perfect way to start your day. Thanks again for the informative video, your voice is perfect for narration. Safe driving.
Used to love that route N10 as you say good Routiers better than boring motorways whe I was working for Transalliance out of Le halve miss that job but got a better one now Retired after 50 yrs tramping and I can still be a part watching your videos and a + no hassle love Reggie thank you xxxx
Jeez, thought I was hallucinating, spent a lot of time on those northern French roads around Le mans, Tours, Orleans etc. Those French villages still look identical now, 40 years on when I first rode through them on my GS 550, with a girlfriend not far from your area. Seems like a long time ago!
Another great video Sherralin thank you. I am so with you on the subject of maps, you just can't beat a paper map, so great for just exploring your surroundings.
What a lot of people don't realise is that in town, unless otherwise stated, you always have to give way to the right! I found out the hard way... my French passenger that was directing me through her home town said, in a very loud voice, 'GIVE WAY' I asked where, her reply 'Back there'! Another point to remember when out of town. If you see a White triangular sign with a Red border, IF it has a '+' sign it means you have the 'right of way' at the next junction, but if there is an 'X' it means 'Priority to the Right'. 'Rappel' under the speed limit sign is 'Reminder'. Bonne route!
It depends on the road signs. If there's a yellow diamond with a white outline it means that you are on a priority road, meaning that you have right of way and the 'Priorité à Droite' rule (give way to traffic from the right) does not apply, joining traffic gives way to you.
You’ll be fine, just another bit of black tar to drive on. If you go back on my content I did a video about the Paris Périphérique that might give you an idea what to expect. Take care. 😁
Brilliant video sherralin. It reminds me of when I would go to France with coach loads of kids. I hated the kids but I loved driving through the country side . Beautiful roads and scenery.
I was pleasantly surprised that the road markings and especially in the small villages and towns are so clean and clear to see. Over here at home even on major routes they are more often than not worn out and indistinct; are they like that throughout France and is that work the responsibility of and undertaken by the resident local Councils (conseil municipal)? There also seem to be a great many more pedestrian crossings in the small villages and again unlike here. Local Cornwall weather report today Oct 18th - rather wet and windy !
Hi David, we live in the Limousin and the road markings are done by the Prefecture, but the local Marie can request road markings but it comes out of the Prefecture Department budget......😄
The villiage border signs are quite easy to miss when they're obstructed by trees. It's quite easy to get a speeding ticket when it's nighttime with low visibility.
Most ports have customs areas, don’t forget the movement of goods from outside EU has always happened, it just applies to UK again now, the process has always been there but generally it’s all done online and just needs final clearance somewhere and animal products may need a vet inspection.
Hi Sherralin another great vlog, you can always tell who is not french as they always stop to let pedestrians cross at pedestrian crossings where as the french only stop if you are brave enough to put a foot on the pedestrian crossing.......a super adult version of chicken 🤣 Take care as always...Alan
Intrigued by this route, is this to cut out Poitiers to Tours on the A10? I know the N10 between these two is really slow, so we always pay the toll. So do you come up the N10 so far then turn east, or turn east at Bordeaux?
Hi sherralin as aways good video would be nice if you could mention the names of the villages when you go through them brings back lots of memories best regards bob
Hi really enjoy your channel is it possible sometimes just to say what you are carrying and how much weight you have on I find it interesting that so many thanks
Thanks for watching, I’m glad you enjoyed the channel. Although I have never carried anything of value, to ensure my own safety, I’m sure you understand that giving out details of loads, routes etc would not be the brightest idea. 😁
I remember as a kid navigating for my dad with a massive map of France whist sat in the back seat. Mum sat in the front and I was the look out for speed limit changes... Did well enough as on numerous holidays year after year, dad never got stopped for speeding.
There's just something about holding a map. I don't know what it is but it's tactile and exercises the old grey matter. This sense of satisfaction when you get to where you're going especially in a strange country. It's soul affirming I believe. Got on the wrong side of French traffic police as a 16 year old cycling with everything but the kitchen sink on the back and absolutely blasted through a small town in the Loire Valley, apparently in excess of the speed limit. In my defence I was being chased down by Centreville LeMans semi pro cycle team and I was going down hill without any technology that's available to today's cyclists... They gave me a warning but told me If I was caught again they'd put me in jail...
2:29 that is not the first speed limit sign it is a Rappel ( It means reminder or remember) of the Speed limit. The reminders are more than what we get in Spain. Sometimes village/town speeds can be higher or lower than the 50KPH. It is not 100% clear. I do like the Spanish signs for overtaking and no overtaking. These are advance of the limit/delimit as well as the white line and arrows. Google maps you can add a location unfortunately it changed by Google or by other users.
It depends on the road signs. If there’s a yellow diamond with a white outline it means that you are on a priority road, meaning that you have right of way and the 'Priorité à Droite' rule (give way to traffic from the right) does not apply, joining traffic gives way to you.
These are national main routes. No different to UK A roads. They are the routes most French people use, French will say away from motorways if possible as there is tolls on them. The places may look old to you but they are quite normal for France. Many smaller towns, the same in UK and Ireland and Spain, have little to no work so they have suffered with people, especially the young, leaving to make a living. Thus there are very few new build or any regeneration taking place. Some places rely on passing trade, especially cafés, bars and shops.

It doesn’t affect me as I have a European passport.
Sadly villages getting depopulated and run down all over rural Europe as families move to urban. Some of those towns very poor sherin
