Spot on advice for the new ones coming up. You are the kind of young lady I pray God guides my daughter to be. Beautiful, smart, flat out honest and willing to take time from a grueling law school schedule to advice and ACTUALLY respond to your fans. 💟👍
I have SO many questions but I don’t know anyone that has ever even attempted to get into an org . I’ve watched so many videos and done so much research but no one ever covers the things I’m worried about . And most of the time everyone just speaks on the case of new freshmen and high school seniors .
I'm a transfer student and I was active in organizations at my other school but haven't been to involved at my new school because i worked multiple jobs last semester. Would it be helpful to add that I'm shift leader at my job and worked at an non-profit day care
So appreciative of your videos bella, one question: I have been browsing templates and is it ok to submit my interest letter and resume with a feminine but still professional template? Meaning a little floral or scroll designs to make it stand out? Or will they only accept generic a black and white interest letter and resume? Thanks so much!
+Jayla Webb yes, there is an interview process. The questions are kind of personal to get to know you. They’ll likely ask about you, your major, interests, maybe why you’re interested in the org, where you’re from .. it’s more conversational BUT it can be intimidating because it will (or should) be a panel of people. You may or may not be in there with others too, not sure how that works for every org. I can’t remember if I had 2 or 3 others in there .. I was like dangggg man lol.
Yes, I would recommend it IF they’re financial. Some orgs you have to have a rec letter by a member but in my opinion it’s better from someone who is actually active & currently participating, you know?
If you're a transfer student, can you also put leadership positions that you held at your previous institution on your resume? And will you please write about writing the cover letter tailored to NPHC?
+clAssIcAllymINdless yep! Put it all! Approach the cover letter like a job cover letter too. Sell yourself, accomplishments, and what you can bring to the organization.
Maybe a dumb question, but is “community service “ the same as “volunteering”? I have a son who is in 2 sports and I volunteer at events for one sport and I volunteered to be a assistant coach for the other
Hello, what if you haven’t been involved so much on campus but have been involved & active off-campus & outside of school. would including that work as well?
When you ask for a letter of recommendation, what do you tell them it’s for? Bc I’m sure u can’t be like “can u write me a letter for such and such sorority inc.?”
+Shay L hey hey! I think a 2.5 personally but if you google “XYZ GPA Requirement” but actually spell out the org, it should pop up with the exact number.
Can you do a video about “NPHC Graduate” Resume? If someone is interested in joining at a Graduate Chapter level.
Yes please
Yes, please!!!
Please do

Hmm .. i think it would depend on the preference. I would play it safe personally with the generic though.
Shea Miller ok I will keep it understated and professional, thanks so much!💗
If someone has achieved major awards in high school could would that look presentable on the resume ?
Yes. I encourage you to also get active in your college campus as well .. they’ll weigh that a little more than HS.
Love the hair by the way.
Hey Shea, I heard that in order to get into an organization you have to do an interview. What is that like? What types of questions will they ask?
+Jayla Webb yes, there is an interview process. The questions are kind of personal to get to know you. They’ll likely ask about you, your major, interests, maybe why you’re interested in the org, where you’re from .. it’s more conversational BUT it can be intimidating because it will (or should) be a panel of people. LOL I do have a feeling ppl gonna message their resumes for review although you said you won't look
+Adrienne Elle lmao gone have to mark it return to sender. Ion even wanna look at my own resume.
What if you have your own organization outside of school ? Is that something good to put up there ?
Is there someone who can verify your work?? You can put it there but if that’s the only thing you have it may be a little questionable, you know?
Yes! It shows initiative and many more leadership qualities.
Hey Shea! I was wondering if it would be inappropriate to follow the chapter you want to join on social media.
+Dolores Soul nope, not inappropriate to me.
Thank you do much for your video it was very very helpful
+Johanna Auten no problem! Glad you found it helpful 💚
Is it good to get a recommendation from someone In your choice of organization? If you’re not a legacy
Yes, I would recommend it IF they’re financial. Some orgs you have to have a rec letter by a member but in my opinion it’s better from someone who is actually active & currently participating, you know?
Come through hair! Sooooo gorgeous!
+cheritaisrandom thanks sis!
If you're a transfer student, can you also put leadership positions that you held at your previous institution on your resume? And will you please write about writing the cover letter tailored to NPHC?
Also, what about putting stuff from high school on your resume?
+clAssIcAllymINdless yep! Put it all! Approach the cover letter like a job cover letter too. Sell yourself, accomplishments, and what you can bring to the organization.
+clAssIcAllymINdless are you a recent hs grad? That could be ok, but they also want to know that you will be an active presence on the campus.
Shea Miller yes I recently graduated high school and just completed my first semester of college. Thank you!
what if you do a lot of community service but you lack campus involvement, is that a big issue?
Depends on the campus. You could still put it on there to be safe!
I'd still add it to show what you've done!
When you ask for a letter of recommendation, what do you tell them it’s for? Bc I’m sure u can’t be like “can u write me a letter for such and such sorority inc.?”
Instead of “sorority”, merely say “organization” .. some orgs require letters of recommendation as well.
Great Video!
+Tiana L thank you!
Hey girl. What do you think a good GPA is?
+Shay L hey hey! I think a 2.5 personally but if you google “XYZ GPA Requirement” but actually spell out the org, it should pop up with the exact number.
Shea Miller thanks. Can you do one about social media?
Should the writer of the rec letter include the name of the org, or is that a no?
They could. The people I asked to write mine said they needed to know what it was for to write it .. I think that was BS lol but that would be fine.
How many copies of the resume should I bring?
Does the app have a specific requirement? If not .. I'd prolly do like 2/3 just to be safe. And mine was not on resume paper for the record lol.
Hello, do you respond to emails ? I emailed you last week.
Yes, last week was finals. I'm in law school full time so it takes me a while to get to all of the emails I receive.
