@@The.Harold.ProjectVery good. I will say that the unreliability reputation is exaggerated, though also understandable. The shotgun requires full power loads to cycle properly, so anything below 1300 FPS with 1 1/8oz shot will choke. This is in contrast to modern gas operated shotguns which are auto regulating in some way, allowing for more variety in loads. This narrow curve of reliable function is also why the SPAS-12 is limited to 2 3/4” shells as well since 3” shells would be over pressure and batter the gun to death. Another thing is if you shoot a bunch and never clean them, the gas ports can get clogged. That happened to me and after I cleared out the gas ports by scraping off the carbon, the gun went back to full reliability.
@@The.Harold.ProjectYeah, it’s the crown jewel of my collection so I always brag about it. lol Oh, also the 37,000 production number is the usual cited one, so you used your sources correctly, but according to an ex-Franchi engineer on the SPAS-12 Project site, the number is closer to 45,000 or 50,000 since 18,000 were apparently produced for Egypt. Not sure how accurate that is, but there were a few buyers and adopters for the SPAS-12. The French GIGN being one of the more prominent ones based on photos, at least. Shame the SPAS-12 and 15 aren’t around anymore, though sometime in the mid-2000’s, Beretta acquired Franchi. Since Beretta also owns Benelli, they decided that Beretta and Benelli would focus on tactical shotguns like the Beretta 1301 and Benelli M4, while Franchi would focus solely on sporting shotguns. So the SPAS fell by the wayside as a result. The Benelli M3 does carry on the ability to convert between pump and auto, though.
Considering the flaws and limited popularity of this shotgun, I'm considering placing this one in the hands of my game's "bad guys". I honestly didn’t know it didn't catch on before seeing your video.
In all honesty, I didn’t know it didn’t catch on until I researched for this video! It’s crazy that such a popular weapon in media can have such a lackluster real life impact.
There were a few adopters, but yeah, the AWB killed it. Still, I have seen them occasionally and it’s always fun to see one. I saw a post on Reddit of a Chilean soldier carrying one a while back. Probably the most photos of them in use or at least posed with are the French GIGN.

This shotgun is in my favorite movie Jurassic Park and it’s on of the reasons I’m into firearms
Hell yeah!!! The true legend becomes famous once again! Though, the Spas-12 is also used by the EKO Cobra and the Army Ranger Wing as well.
I’m glad you enjoyed it!
Was looking forward to this video since I own a SPAS-12 myself. I love mine.
Well I hope I didn’t disappoint! I’d love to know what you thought.

I have a feeling the SAA is coming soon. Prolly the firearm that's in the most games ever.
By SAA I’m assuming you mean the Colt Single Action Army revolver, and it’s definitely a handgun I’m working on getting a video done for!
@@The.Harold.Project yup, Single Action Army.
Howany guns has Arnold Schwarzenegger turned into LEGENDS 😎🇺🇲

Sounds like it’s the Desert Eagle of shotguns
Amazing gun, the SPAS 12. Its cursed how it can fire 2 shells at once in half life 😂
Seriously though, how did they do it???

No spas in sandstorm does make me sad
Would kinda go crazy with the sniper revolver

Oh, thank you! I’m not the greatest with pronunciations so if I got it wrong, I appreciate the correction.
