  • NFL Network Analyst Bucky Brooks joins Matt "Money" Smith & Lorenzo Neal to talk about the Chargers, the new Harbaugh regime, and who he thinks they might be targeting in the NFL Draft at the end of this month. He addresses what he believes they will do with the 5th overall pick as well as some other late round prospects he thinks could be great fits in Los Angeles. He even gives a prediction of where he thinks the Chargers will be in the AFC Pecking Order next year and gets Lo so excited that we might see #41 come out of retirement!! It is not hard to understand the guy. OLD SCHOOL FOOTBALL. great show. May I remind the masses that End is a offensive line position. Money, I know the plan is to establish a dominant run game but there are a few variables that keep this draft interesting for me.
    1st. The current O-Line personel was fine last year. They weren't SF good, but they weren't NYJ bad either. So how much help do they need to become elite if we really believe they were suffering under subpar coaching last year? I don't doubt for a second they add bodies to the line, but how many and where in the draft considering it isn't really a position of need compared to say WR or CB or D-Line? Corner and D-line clearly need help and WR has bleed down to Josh Palmer, QJ, Darius Davis, and Fehoko....
    2. They have plugged holes through free agency with clear intent of elevating the floor (Poona) or strengthening the run game (TE/FB). So that seems to fit the best player approach in the draft. I expect them to want to move down, but I could absolutely see them drafting one of the big 3 WRs if that option is dry (MN trades with AZ or doesn't give value expected for this spot in the draft).
    3. How many of these college players, expected to go in the 5-7 are guys Jim H. values because he scouted/recruited them for MI? He might know of guys, lots of em, that they can grab late and work miracles with.
    I think the coaching upgrades are being overlooked. They will have serious impact for a team that lost 8 games by 1 score last season coached by an inexperienced coaching staff

    • @ryansuter4424
      @ryansuter4424 5 месяцев назад

      Valid reasoning.
      It’s still easier to find starting WR in the 3rd and lower rounds than a starting OL or defensive lineman.

    • @dhaas4698
      @dhaas4698 5 месяцев назад

      @@ryansuter4424I don't disagree. There are more available WRs and Jim H. traditionally has done great work without elite WR talent...or elite QB talent for that matter. But another way to improve your run game is by threatening to pass. No DC in his right mind is going to ignore MHJ, Nabors, or Odunze...and if they have to scheme against a Herbert/MHJ connection, that'll make it that much harder to defend against the run.
      I'm not saying they'll draft WR for sure at 5, but I wouldn't put it past them to select BPA if it is one of them and there is no good trade partner.
      And their scouting knowledge goes deep...lots of players. Could they land gold with WR in the later rounds? Yeah...but that's true at all positions.
      Spiller thus far has been a bust. How but unlike Ekeler, he's still on the team. Who knows what he'll look like with an O-line that can open lanes and coach him up? Kelly and Dotson too. And let us not forget, they loat Lindsley pretty early last season, Ekeler too. After that, it was all downhill. So I expect BPA, depth to increase the floor at all positions, conditioning to improve team durability, and coaching unlike anything they've had since Marty

    I understand being under the wing of the Chargers org, sponsored and all, bit failure to seriously address the elephant un the room snd just be RAH, RAH just takes away from your credibility. Like Lieden reading a script on what to say and not say. In his pressers. If you think Palmer and QJ are going to get it done that's crazy. If we're being honest Palmer is at best a #3, QJ maybe, maybe a 4. Our starting RB and TE are gone. You can run the ball all day long. It will NOT win games if they're stacking rhe box because they know we have no weapons. We can get a C and RT later. We need butts In the seats not a place to come eat a hotdogs and take a nap at a snooze fest of a game. To not take Bowers who is great blocker and weapon, best in our generation a new Jeremy Shockey but better. Harrison, Nabers. Get the other holes after the weapon. Harbaugh is going to Doom Herbert's career. 4th offense and gets to hand the ball off over and over. Yea such fun. I wouldn't doubt he trades Herbert in two years. He's a snake like that. Why all the enamored act about coaching Herbert to watch him hand the ball off. We'll see if you leave this up, or if you're going to censor people too
