Amazes me... Some people fix old radios and TVs. Some people run the leaf blower for an hour or two every week. :-/

That sounds 👌 like a Montgomery Ward radio. This is amongst one of the better radios 📻. Your friend, Jeff.

I am lucky in my area we have at least 3 AM music stations, 960 WKVX Wooster,Oh., WDPN Alliance,Oh. & WJER Dover/New Philadelphia,Oh., a trio of good music stations.

And as far as changing capacitors the only one that I really worried anything about is across the line cap because if that sucker let's go on an AC powered radio it's not a nice day had it happened several times and one time was on a Magnavox

Wouldn't blind viewers actually be blind listeners? 🙂

Hi RTPN, are you familiar with the approach to correct chroma demodulation alignment issues? The symptom I’m observing is that there is horizontal red color phase shift to the right, where it produces a red smear ghosting effect. It only impacts reds more than any other color. I saw that it is likely a chroma demodulation alignment issue. Is there a way to correct?

I would really love to have that radio . I have a small collection of battery radios . I am in the UK so postage would cost a fortune . It's such a stylish little set .

21:47 Good points! I noticed that metallic ringing on NY metro AMs with FM translators. It's a latency issue that feeds back into the AM side, making historically pleasant and comforting sounding AM sound like a loose heat shield on an old Datsun transmission.

0:02 Wards or Woolworths? I honestly cannot tell with that equipment noise next door!

    Very nice radio.
Question: isn't a capacitor's resistance supposed to go up when using an ohmmeter as it charges? I did see it start out at a lower resistance on the new one, correct? I don't know about measuring a leaky cap with an ohmmeter, but I thought a leaky cap will never reach infinite resistance. Just trying to understand. I am a novice in the worst sense of the term.
Edit: at about 10:09, you confirmed that about the resistance reaching infinity on a good electrolytic cap.

As regards capacitors.... As a young guy trying to learn this stuff in the 1980's the worst advice I ever got was about checking capacitors with an ohmmeter.
Try it on known good capacitors. See if you can discern what the relationship of the value and voltage limit versus the meter behavior. I didn't think you can say much more than it takes the larger ones longer for the meter to sweep the scale.
Shorts will show as a low resistance or one that rises and then stops at a low value. Open will exhibit no movement.
Leakage can be difficult to discover at lower voltages. Most ohmmeters function at 1.5 volts. Some are higher. A few use 22.5 volt batteries on the high megohm scale. So mostly you do not have the voltage available to check for leakage up to the working voltage of the capacitor.
Now you can look at capacitor manufacturer's specifications for leakage on electrolytic capacitors of different values. A DC voltage source with current limiting and an milliamp meter can help you test them. Alternately old testers with neon lamps or something new like Mr Carlson's Lab demonstrates can help you find leaky capacitors. Be careful! A charge to high enough voltage can be lethal!
Learn and understand the failure modes of capacitors and how you can figure it out and you'll be well served.
