Oh wow - did not know this Fall song, but what a way to discover it... Always good to find another manifestation of PJ Harvey's voice, always good to find another Fall song too
I believe ( .. and I'm sure) that Polly Jane could do any cover, but that of course it reflects her lyrics (assuming that she is a great songwriter)... and that it is the others who cover his songs: one above all " hardly wait " .. from "Strange days" ( .. Juliette Lewis)
big fall fan listening to pj version first then the fall's version for the first time and I would have to go with PJ on this one. The song fits her voice so perfectly. RIP Mr. Smith.
PJ Harvey - Janet, Johnny, and James (The Fall cover, 2004) 1539pm 13.7.23 i enjoyed this, also... dunno whose depression he was conveying but it was a well worn refrain - from wayyyy back... one of smith's more romantic periods which kindda began with the extricate album.
*_just another reason to love Polly Jean ... she's a fan of The Fall!!!_*

PJ Harvey - Janet, Johnny, and James (The Fall cover, 2004) 0857am 22.10.24 any footage of her performing this?
Saw her perform this twice - I didn't know where it came from and once I did, made it even better. Still listen to it.
An open ended story. It could mean anything. Janet and Johnny. Have mercy on me!
Love the Fall and love PG. Win win win win win!
Great song and cover by PJ Harvey. Stop and think about the lyrics. All apply today.
The music is very much like The Fall original but the vocal really makes me think again about Mark's words. very good.
What a great cover version.
