My grandfather was in charge of building steam trains at Stratford, East London. I remember falling asleep to the sounds of them shunting. Bloody Shopping centre there now.
I love the BR blue, she looks almost as good in it as King Edward II does. I hope they keep her this was for a while. Apple green is nice, but not this nice, I think green is better on the smaller locos.
Mate!!! Fine shots, lighting, decent sound and what a loco!!!! To see her charging hard and knowing how she came to be and that she has many many long decades in her.... Just entirely fantastic!
Amazing footage. Some of the best I've seen. Very good work! Considering I love in the US, I only get to see this engine through video, this this was a very special treat indeed. Thanks for sharing! Cheers
I hope that when 2007 is running, she'll at some point wear the same livery. I know the P2s never wore that livery in service, but I think it'd look amazing in it
It's great to see a steam loco running light engine on the mainline again, so often it has a bloody single support coach, or a whole diesel pulling it. This is so much nicer
Superb job of filming and editing there Kris, and very much enjoyed by us both here. Alex did all the actions and drove his Thomas toy quickly round his high chair tray every time Tornado swept past! I was having trouble picking a favourite clip but that final Grately flyby with the whistling made up my mind - a brilliant shot, and on both whistles too. Wow. Doesn't she look fantastic in blue? I am now holding my breath to see if they can pull off the P2 build as I would *love* to see that on the mainline! Thanks for all your hard work and videos over the past year, which have been greatly enjoyed here, and I look forward to seeing what 2014 brings. Tim (and Alex)
Oh yes, best livery she's been in. Although I am looking forward to the time she's repainted back into Apple Green. Thanks for watching and commenting Dave :)
Can i ask if youve used any particular type of lens on your Panasonic or is it just straight from the bog standard camera inside the HDC-HS900? The quality coming from this is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like the blue for this locomotive. It separates it away from LNER which although it is from that lineage I think it servered more year as BR. The blue is a bit different and it make it look like Gordon from Thomas... :)
In the UK 3 cylinders was a popular configuration for express passenger locomotives. Great Western often (Star, Castle and King Classes) used a 4-cylinder configuration (based on a French design)
dmme i wouldn't say gaudy but I'll put my self in the small fraction that think the green is a bit less Thomas the tank engine and a bit more industrial revolution.
高速で走る蒸気機関車は迫力があって素晴らしい

Forever Steam Locomotion!!!
2:30-3:40 the Tornado silhouette and its long train disappearing out of the station into the rainy, lamp-lit night; the stuff dreams are made of ☺️
What beautiful photography with such a grand subject in the English countryside.
Wonderful video. Tornado is a masterpiece in her own right. She does look good in green. However, BR express blue is her best scheme.
In a word...Magnificent! Thanks.👍🇦🇺.
Absolutely stunning cinematography.
GR8 set of clips...Tornado looks good in Blue in my opinion
Cheers Kev :) Oh yes, she really does suit the Blue.

Stunning filming and love the dusk and night shots. She does sound and look brilliant

I loved her in blue 😍 wish they do it again
Precious, blessings for posting this. 👍 from 🇺🇸
A really brilliant video here, lovely to see Tornado in such interesting locations such as next to the barges and water park.
Ta very much Alex :)
Great idea and well filmed. I agree the blue livery is fabulous. Well done
Ta very much Chris :)

Thank you very much Tim, and Alex ;) Glad you both enjoyed it. Also looking forward to the P2, now that'll be a sight to behold!
Great video!
Cheers!
@@SpeedToTheWest No problem! 🙂
Stunning Production Well done.
Thanks again :)
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing...;-)
She couldn’t look better in blue!
Gordon: *EXPRESS COMING THROUGH!*
Still say she looks good in that BR Blue ..nice compilation you have put to-gether there
Oh yes, best livery she's been in. Although I am looking forward to the time she's repainted back into Apple Green. Thanks for watching and commenting Dave :)
Besides flying scotsman, tornado is my favorite british locomotive.
I like all 3 paint jobs
The Green Paint and green wheels 🟢
The Blue with black wheels🔵⚫️
And Green with black wheels🟢⚫️
Very enjoyable footage, one of the best I've seen!
Lovely
Brilliant :)
Is anybody who can tell me what it is (the crank pin) on the locomotive's third driving wheels? And what's it for? [At 25:24]
It's the equipment for the speedometer 👍
Can i ask if youve used any particular type of lens on your Panasonic or is it just straight from the bog standard camera inside the HDC-HS900? The quality coming from this is outstanding!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is Gordon #4 from Thomas & Friends train series!
Gordon is a *GRESLEY*A1 not a *PEPPERCORN*A1
gordon is a gresley prototype A1 entirely different than tornado that is a peppercorn A1
Best whistle timing:
11:20 , hear that big scream
17:01 , "WAAAAAAAAAAA"
Does anyone know what that weird bridge at 12:43 was for?
FLOREAT VAPOR..."MAY steam flourish!"

Gordon was an A1
The coaches look just like the express coaches that Gordon pulls :)
The sodor coaches are more skinny
Unless I guess my guess, that loco seems to have three cylinders - unusual for an express passenger engine.....typically used for freight locos.
In the UK 3 cylinders was a popular configuration for express passenger locomotives. Great Western often (Star, Castle and King Classes) used a 4-cylinder configuration (based on a French design)
I wasn't sure at first when I saw her in Blue but now I thinks she suits it keep it in Blue for a number if years I say. And bring her back to the SVR
hate that glaring blue, green much easier on the eye
Hate the blue just luv the original green blues too gaudy
