  • Josh talks about the new Bernal Cutlery Knife of the Week!
Higonokami 10cm folding knife. Laminated blade with shirogami #2 steel core. Brass handle. 75mm cutting edge. 175mm overall length, 105mm closed. 50 grams.
This knife is a collaboration between Mujun and Higonokami that beautifully illustrates Mt. Fuji as seen from Miho Peninsula. The end of the handle can also be used as a bottle opener.
Great small multipurpose knife! Good for small wood-working jobs, sharpening pencils, opening boxes, etc. These have no lock so can only be used for slicing, no poking with the tip. Keep dry when no in use to avoid rusting. Made in Japan.

Nice review thanks for sharing. I’d suggest not opening a bottle with the knife opened, it works just as well with it closed 😂

Traditionally they have been used for marking wood and sharpening pencils. You certainly could use it for food but due to the wide angle and the lack of a lock it could be troublesome or dangerous compared to other knives more suited for the task. They are also carbon steel and will require maintenance to prevent rust on the blade especially if being used with acidic fruits and vegetables.
