I’m loving mine so far! Tempted to buy a second in a sale but too broke haha. They are very affordable I’m just broke. And I’m very happy the one I have. Thiugh even in the sale apparently I spent more than most I hear quoted in vids but the price seems standard on website retailers
Few people are capable of handling a straight razor used for daily tasks. I doubt most people would be able to manipulate the blade open, without serious risk to their fingers.
I've always wanted to pick one of these up, just haven't gotten around to it yet. Already have the Opinel, this is the Japan Opinel in a way. I carry either a Spyderco Rock Jumper, or a Stretch 2. I enjoy the Seki City Japan Spyderco knives. I can try out all kinds of new steals for reasonable prices while getting a great knife to use.
FYI - A Higonokami pocket knife appeared in Apple TV's Monarch series about Godzilla. There's a Japanese character that uses it to sharpen his pencils. Maybe you'll be able to move more of them now.
@@KnifewearKnives just seems like would come open and be dangerous if it was for hanging. doesnt seem like would add much on a small knife. only thing i can really think of is just wrapping around wrist so you dont drop it fishing er something
I recently got a small Higonokami that has a brass handle. It's the perfect size to hang from your belt loop. It's going right alongside my diameter tape. I am going to be carrying it a lot. I am looking forward to see how well it holds up. It's the first Japanese knife I have ever bought.
Honest review: I wanted to buy something to show my allegiance to Japan and in doing so I really cut the crap out of my finger and Brooke like really like I really and because I love serrated but it wasn't n e ways I love you
that last one is nice but man its not 300 nice lol. aus8 is a decent steel but not on a $310 knife. a better an steel and I could understand the price.
Seems clear there's a distinct market of people who are happy to buy a tricked-out version of things that are way more expensive than what the peons pay. It's usually not inherently any better. Wusthof makes this Aeon chef's knife that's got a DLC coating and a bog wood handle and it costs $600. It's not any better as a knife than what you pay $130 for.
CANADA? I WILL GO CHECK, LOOKING FOR A BLUE 1, OR 2. A $100 VERSION.. (IVE SEEN SOME OVER 500 CAD) BUT IM CONCERNED ON EASE OF OPENING. BAD HANDS. X PRO CHEF, X PRO BUTCHER, I NEED A ‘ONE HANDER’ THAT… STILL COMPLIES. 😊TOSS UP BETWEEN BUCK 110, POWDER STEEL BLADE, GROHMANN DHR MINI, OR .. HIGO.
Like a Japanese Opinel. Old-school everyday folder. Nice.
Totally! Well said.
Fun fact: These came up because of the Meiji Restauration, which included laws that banned carrying swords and such in public.
That's really interesting, thanks for the knowledge!

The price really depends on who made the higo and what materials they use. Ours go for $22-28 Canadian!
800 yen in Japan. About five bucks.
It is always handy to have a pocket knife with you 24 seven
Great video! :D Love the talk on the practical uses of these things.
Thank you!

I have a tiny brass Higo. (About 1.5 inces closed) It's slim and light. Love it. Only thing better is an Opinel!
You should try the Douk Douk if you like the Higo and Opinel
Agreed!
@@silverido I did, I don't like it. The Mercator K55K is vastly better.
Very interesting to see some non-kitchen knives!
i got the little one, i love it! Great for outdoor stuff like you say, firesticks. They sharpen up amazing on water stones....

Everyone: Why do you have so many knives and swords and spend so much money on them?
Me: I dunno!
Really surprised to see someone make a feather stick with a folder, but obviously that blade makes it worthwhile!
It sure does, it's got the perfect edge!
Cutting off your fingers is fine as long as you look cool doing it.
Very nice thanks for the post
Thanks for the review! 👍🏼
Love these
Its like a Katana swordsmith philosophy (dual steel san which) meets a Mercator K55K

Awsome review 🔥🔥
My primary edc knife is SAK Spartan, higo is my second, but i lost my Spartan, now my primary is higo
It's not more legendary than my Ridge Forged Ember Summit Knife! 😏
IN THE CAR 😮
Can you lock the blade when fully extended?
Sorta! Your thumb on the tang acts as a lock.
I love this Japanese Knifes😍
Terrifies me using a folding knife without a locking system!
reminds me of a mini Skrama!!
I bought myself a No.4 Higonokami and can’t wait to get it in the mail 🫶🏻
Do you have other colours available on your site? Would love to purchase every single size with different colours.
Which Higo is this? The Higo 12? Why are some way more expensive than others? Like I’ll see the 14 go for seventy bucks.
Love your personality haha instant sub!
Thank you!
No me gusta solamente porque crean heridos a mi, crucial pero
Very fun
It's like the french douk_douk pocket knife
I've been wanting to pick up a pocket knife but I routinely travel to NYC and knife laws are kinda ridiculous there.
Ah, that's a bummer! We'll they're certainly worth even having around the house!
I’d rather be judged by 12 than carried by 6
@@dirteater70 yes defend yourself with a higo
An updated version of the HIGO NO KAMI Japanese friction folding pocket knife is. the Gerber AYAKO Folding pocket knife.
I was hoping U would have explained the stampings on the handle...=)
The makers name and the blade steel
Hello, excuse me the length in centimeters could you tell me about the 3 higonokami?
Hey, they're 6.5, 7, and 9cm!

Не разбирам защо толкова много хора ги харесват.
You got the sizes wrong, you have the medium, large and extra large. There is a small and extra small.
these look really cool, are the ones from your site made in Japan?
They sure are!
@@KnifewearKnives Awesome, thanks!
I just opened up the handle bar like .1cm, and now its loose enough that i can flick the blade open with my wrist.
Doesn't want to open in your pocket?
I don't see any for sale
You can grab them here!

Pocket knives got banned from Japan because a sword murder.
Check authenticity… those blades aren’t signed and without reinforced edge… they might be Chinese copies…
Hey, we've actually visited this factory a number of times and deal directly with the authentic Higo no Kami manufacturer. They're the real deal!

It a pocket knife, you only need one ,just take care of it an don't lose it. You shouldn't need one for ever room in your house, just stupid.
i like to ''ruin'' the blade by making it scandi. just makes it way more easy to sharpen
Nothing wrong with that!
HAHA ‘KITCHEN SPECIFIC KNIVES’ .. I HAVE A BAYONET FOR SHOW CARVING 😂
