I run a 6 stage RODI, sediment, carbon block, granular carbon, 2 x 200gpd membranes and 2 x mixed bed DI resins. My DI lasts forever because double contact time and when first one runs out you just replace that one and swap them around.
I run my fuge lite for 12 hours but only run my display lite for 8 works well for me so far. I only have one hammer but its not just happy its booming rite now!
Phosphate leeches from the rocks and sand etc so no amount of water changes will help long term, you need to find the issue and resolve it properly, but you can use lanthium chloride with a decent skimmer to bring them down more effectively but don’t drop them to quickly as you run the risk of a Dino break out and or cyano and diatom blooms with the inconsistency in parameters and big changes in them to quickly
@@pelphrey all us reefers are more addicted to setting these systems up and the challenges involved in keeping the water quality correctly and the technical electronic gear we all get to install and use and changing things is exciting and keeps us interested in the hobby, our problems come about when our systems are just about maturing we change things which messes with the maturity and sets our ecosystem back and parameter levels change and swing up and down, then we face all the bad problems your having now :) I hope you sort it any help I can be, just ask
I run my fuge for about 14-15hrs a day. Ramps up over an hr before the DT lights go off or after they come back on. I have a R250 also with a GFO reactor and I modified the sump removing the socks and creating a baffle to make a decent area for a tumble ball and some refugium mud. Phos is around 0.02 and I have it heavily stocked with coral and fish. I was sitting on around 0.36 3 months ago. Now I have to consider removing GFO or adding less so I dont strip it of phos.
Time for an Algae Scrubber, naturally lower your Phosphates and Nitrates. I have this same tank and I'm about to take the plunge. Less water changes, feed your fish & corals all you want and free fish food for herbivores.

I think the double filters is a smart idea for sure! Extra up front cost but less hassle!
Also look at your mixed water. Some salt mixes contain phosphates too... Maybe try a carbon dosing source? Works best for me.
Never thought about that! Thanks!!

12 hours is a good time frame!!

You’re 100% right! Sand is almost 6 years old, rock is a few years old now. I switched rock to the life rock.

Was the TDS reading zero coming out of the RODI?
Sure is!
You really should stay on top of your RODI system. If your source water is very dirty then it is very important.
Your 100% correct! That should always be a priority. For me I let it slip…. Multiple times.
If you run the refugium that long, you might want it tumbled to let it get a “dark period” when it rotates away from the light and grow its best.
True, didn't even think about that!

I feel like I'm watching a lie 😞

I got the content already. I’m posting it! Haha
