This reminds me of a game I watched back around 2000; my own Go teacher vs his Go teacher. My teacher had to leave the room for a few moments, and while he was gone his Go teacher pointed to a cutting point on the board.
"He does not see this cut and thinks these stones are alive." he told me. "Watch."
His teacher played the ENTIRE game without cutting that point, until my Go teacher thought the game was basically over. Then his teacher calmly cut at that point, falsifying a critical eye and killing a 15+ stone group that had seemed to be alive.
I have, ever since then, looked at Go not as just a game of objectively best moves but of realizing what your opponent does and does not see. When you know what they will not play, you can tailor what you do to defeat them. I'm sure it doesn't apply as often against 9p caliber players as it does against others - but in this game, a 9p player missed that the corner was alive. So the notion of "play the opponent, not the board" always applies at least a bit.

nice! it does make me wonder how long the 2p knew that was there. how long was it planned? was he keeping count of the game the entire time knowing his opponent had traitor inside the heart of his base?

this seems like a bad idea unless you're playing in blitz. the opponent might find time to read that at any point approaching endgame.

That last move must have caused the board to glow with light like in Hikaru no Go

Woah that was an awesome move! Kinda reminds me of Lee-Sedol's late game move against Kong Jie in the 2nd Toyota-Denso Cup Semi Final.

I'll bet Yuto felt good about that one.

I thought that black's early moves were reminiscent of a low single digit kyu/high double digit kyu, but they were clearly more masterful than we could comprehend. That living sequence at the end was incredible to watch
