TK realizes the mistake he made by letting the SpotBucks influence his decisions from the start of the promotion. I can see TK attempting a hard reboot of AEW in the direction of an ROH of old. The same blueprint WWE used on NXT when NXT Takeovers were thriving.
Joe is a veteran who's paid his dues and a constant performer and the fans gravitate to him so it only made sense for TK to put the belt on him . No doubt he will give that title that much more credibility and defend it against whoever feels they deserve the shot . They just better be prepared for a flat out war in the process.

It’s amazing how often we seem to forget that Joe is one of the few wrestlers alive who can INSTANTLY go from being a solid midcarder to champion mode. Dude’s like Daniel Bryan in that. No matter what he’s been booked in a month ago, put the strap on him and he’s got promos, the work rate and the credibility in place and ready to go.
One thing I like about Tony Khan is when he sits by a champion you can tell by his facial expressions if he likes or dislikes a person. This is the first time I have seen him truly smile when a champion is talking. I am glad to see it is Samoa Joe who brings that smile to life for him.

Been a Joe fan since his ROH World Title reign and man, it feels so good to see him a world champion again even though I don't follow AEW too closely. What a class act and amazing performer, thought he was gonna retire many times before this.
I hated Joe for the longest time in TNA but dude grew on me. So happy to see this. I hope he's built as an unstoppable monster. Now they need to keep building stars in the process. Joe vs Swerve would be dope. I'm a huge fan of swerve. So many matches you can have with this man. Just don't have him hold the belt for like a year. It gets stale after a while. If I could build Joe's matches for the next few months I'd go like this, in this order.. Bryan Danielson Page Moxley (steel cage match) Penta (this dude is so underrated) Cole Swerve (ladder match where swerve wins) In the process of this they need to build up penta. I would honestly give him a run with the belt. There's SO much you can do with penta in the future. He needs like a manager that is exciting and keep speak really good.
