    Loved those b-rolls! Awesome way of starting a video, “ok, no script”, yeah man, sometimes it feels cool to let ourselves loose in the jungle. Another great video, man. I saw that monitor at the BSC in London, UK and ohhhhh, man. Keep rocking brother. Cheers

    Yeah the DSMC3 Monitor is awesome, all that gorgeousness of the SmallHD screen with the integration of the insanely useful side user buttons! Man how I wish the original Komodo supported it...

    • @TylerEdwards

      Ya it’s amazing. Would’ve been so cool if Komodo supported it, but then again, that’s why KX was made haha

    What about its for the Komodo X dynamic range? Is it 16 stops or it was only on paper?

    Love this!!!
    Quick question, when mounting both the DSMC3 monitor and the Komodo side handle, what mount do you have to seperate them?
    I am looking at these two accessories with a 3rd party top handle, just unsure ho the mounting works

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  11 месяцев назад +1

      From bottom to top: dsmc3 monitor base>outrigger handle>bright tangerine nato rail>bright tangerine top handle

    I have this combo, the Komodo X and same monitor. I am trying to setup exposure assist with EL Zone, I am making sure the color pipeline is setup to LOG, but when I select it the option for EL Zone is not available, in the style optiions just Arri, Spectrum and Map1,2 and 3. What am I missing? I also have the Komodo and the monitor on the latest software.

    Really useful Info, thank you! Did you ever use the monitor on a Gimbal / Tilta Ring or similar? Trying to figure out what mounts would be needed to do that.

    Thank you for the review. Straight to the point.
    On the one hand you're buying this as a long term investment, but on the other hand this monitor is like 50% of the price of Sony FX6.
    In fact their new ND for Komodo + this monitor combined cost more than FX6 which is very unfortunate.

    I'm curious how (in practice) this compares to the SmallHD Ultra 5 TX. Is it worth building in the wireless to keep the setup compact, even if it means more wires to the monitor?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  4 месяца назад +1

      It just totally depends on your needs. Are you running wireless every shoot? Then maybe. For me, the dsmc3 monitor is great because I don’t always use wireless, but when I do, the SDI is freed up for me for a tx pack

    Currently you're the only guy reviewing this monitor. The cable behind the monitor, is it weak in terms of durability?

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  11 месяцев назад

      It is the weakest link of the monitor for sure. My personal monitor hasn’t had an issue, but I’ve ran into issues on a rental unit before. At least it’s replaceable.

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  2 месяца назад

      @@creativegreatsvisuals it is a proprietary cable called the RMI cable. It can be replaced and purchased through B&H or RED directly (and likely other RED distributors as well).

    What doesn’t make sense is the red can be controlled by the port keys monitors wireless but the small hd needs another cable to control it… wtf

    • @TylerEdwards
      @TylerEdwards  Год назад

      The one cable also powers and sends a video signal which frees up SDI. It’s also way more accurate, has better built in tools and my portkeys monitor is absolute junk but everyone has different needs haha

      @@TylerEdwards Also the wireless isn't 100% rocksteady and rock solid 100% of the time. So depending what and where you're shooting, I'd say the cable route is more professional
