      @em2attic День назад +1

      @RB30LJ i recently saw this being done by another aftermarket piston manufacturer i cant remember which one though but i would assume its less common in automotive due to the fact that its cheaper to use 1 piece pistons especially being that petrol engines dont create as much heat, pressure, and tq as diesel engines.

    I’m probably in the minority but I feel underwhelmed by the car. Just a lot of off the shelf stuff aside from the engine and the gimmicky wing (seems more like an air brake than drs). The engine and piston design is neat but I wish they’d debut their full Advanced Heritage RB motor in this flagship with the variable exhaust vcam concept and all the other components they hinted at years ago.

  • @Roddy_Zeh
    @Roddy_Zeh 14 часов назад

    Everyone going stroker kit, meanwhile I'd rather go for a destroked RB, something that basically no one does.
    Smaller bore allows for thicker cylinder walls, while shorter stroke allows for longer conrods, smoother operation and potentially higher rpm's.

    • @MotiveVideo
      @MotiveVideo  13 часов назад +1

      There is zero real world reason to de-stroke. Also you can't "un bore" a block so not sure where you're going to get thicker cylinder walls. Only RD28 has 85mm bore which will requiring boring to 85.5mm anyway. When a 3.2 can rev to 11,000, what possible reason do you have to go lower capacity?

    • @Roddy_Zeh
      @Roddy_Zeh 5 часов назад

      @MotiveVideo Woah, 11k rpm in a 3.2L? That I didn't know! I had seen them going for 9k...9500 rpm...had no idea some were already tackling 11k. Cool!
      For the cylinder walls, would adding new sleeves to the block allow to use smaller bore pistons?
      In any case, my main objective with a destroked RB would be to reduce piston speed at those same 10-11...12k rpm.
      Lower piston speed, longer conrods to improve the rod/length ratio and allow it to maintain those rpm's more safely while also making the engine even smoother.
      Most people go "why?", I go "why not?". Even if no one had done it, for whatever reason [financial, technical, etc.], I like the trying different ideas when it comes to these projects. 🙂👍🏻

  • @cartertwowheels3358
    @cartertwowheels3358 День назад +1

    Be better to make a whole new motor, keep the factory stroke and go oversquare to 3.5L or bigger.
    Much easier to get the power reliably with the shorter stroke and higher rpm.
    Yeah its not the original, but knowing the price will be crazy, its gotta be better than the other RB motors that are available today.

    • @clonecaptian
      @clonecaptian 23 часа назад +1

      You aren't getting to 3.5 in an rb without a stroker kit

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358 21 час назад

      @clonecaptian correct, that's why (if you read my comment) you'll see I said make a whole new motor.
      Shorter stroke and oversquare, much better for reliability.
      If you went to a 3.5 or etc, 1000hp would be much easier to make and be reliable.
      The RB was well ahead of its time, but the r35 knew it needed to go with more displacement to keep up with the competition in the price range it was in.

    • @MotiveVideo
      @MotiveVideo  13 часов назад

      @ Already done. B30 billet block can be bored to 89.5mm which combined with a Nitto 3.4L stroker crank becomes a 3.6L.

    • @cartertwowheels3358
      @cartertwowheels3358 12 часов назад

      @@MotiveVideo same problem, longer stroke = lower rpm potential and higher stress.
      Overhaul and start again.
      Make a true, modern RB36 capable of 10,000rpm +.
      Make it oversquare, 75mm stroke to allow much higher rpm.
      These cars will only be used as track cars.
      Make em wild!

    With longer rods won’t they get a higher piston speed and therefore not be able to rev the engine (the iconic RB sound won’t be the same??)
    I think the path that Australian builders have gone is more successful than this
    Especially the likes of Herman and his development of his new cast iron blocks removing all the problems from the factory blocks
    Knowing Japanese culture, I think they’re just overly keen to use all Japanese products rather than using Whats best
    And then developing new complex components just for the sake of it that don’t actually turn out to be so successful
    And as the other guy said I think this is an underwhelming build a black car that’s just been wrapped white with some gimmick stuck on it
    Personally, I don’t feel a car is a new build if it’s just wrapped
    It certainly not complete

    • @aakar1s
      @aakar1s День назад +1

      I think they went with SHORTER rods, to have more stroke, hence the 2 piece piston design. Remember, Andrew said there isn't enough space to go for a substantial stroke.

    • @Captainflood01
      @Captainflood01 День назад +1

      Yeah the 3 litre rotating assembly variants designed by HKS and OS Giken both rely on longer rod lengths to achieve that capacity but in turn results in a limited albeit still 9k rpm. Seems the Japanese want nothing to do with the actual rb30 block but I guess that makes sense because it wasn’t really available in their market. Would love to see some of their advanced heritage stuff start to make it’s way out but unfortunately I think other companies will be offering products such as dual variable cam rb26 heads before they release theirs at this stage.

    • @michaelb5330
      @michaelb5330 День назад

      @
      That the Japanese want nothing to do with the Rb 30 shows there pigheadedness
      Remember with Aussie innovation and feedback to them the r32 would be a slow unreliable thing
      Australia race teams and the general car culture fatuity (drag racers) and street cars developed these Rb motors to the iconic level they now have !

    • @Captainflood01
      @Captainflood01 День назад

      @ very much agreed. The Australia innovation to the RB series now outweighs that of what the Japanese have achieved in my opinion. The Japanese are very self centred around Japanese made only components and have basically refused to use any Australian RB components in their builds. Look I have a lot of respect for them and still think they have some incredible stuff but they also tend to make copies or rebrands just to put their name on. Like their turbos for examples are literally just Garrett rebrands as mentioned in the video with very little differences and certainly wouldn’t be any more efficient, which begs the question, why would you even buy one?… oh wait just so you have that name on your turbo. Personally I think the best gtr/rb build can really only be achieved using the best picked newest innovative and technology leading components irrespective of where they come from.

    • @raylal9632
      @raylal9632 День назад

      @@michaelb5330 You hit the nail on the head with the 'pigheadedness' - Unfortunately this is true. I live in Japan, and they class anything related to foreigners as inferior. This is due to their past cultural upbringing.. they HATE change haha - Thats why you still need cash at most places in Tokyo.
      The other thing is that I wouldnt trust an RB block at 87mm.. certainly not for 750hp, maybe 3-400 max(depending on tune of course).
