    Been watching you guys for many years - since your first A6000 review. I don't normally get anxiety watching this stuff, but if either of you get seriously injured, you are fked. I hope you will rethink your risk tolerance. Youthful invincibility is a myth that you quickly come to realize if you spend any time in an ER. As I have always told my kids: "It's too late when it's too late.". Adventure and risk is not a bad thing - within limits. We want to continuing to watch your adventures for many more years.

    • @codyandvictoria
      @codyandvictoria  4 месяца назад +2

      Hey Don. Thanks for the comment and concern! Of course we’re aware of the risk and we carry a satellite SOS device in case something happens. But it’s kind of one of those things where we love it so much that it’s worth the risk. Out there we feel truly alive and like we’re squeezing every ounce out of this short existence as we can. The mountains are beautiful and peaceful and are a reminder that RUclips, and cell phones, and jobs and money and all of it is really unimportant in the grand scheme. I’d much rather die at the base of a mountain than in the drivers seat of my car. We’re doing what we can to remain safe - and sometimes we probably make it look a little more dangerous than it actually is because this is show business here on RUclips - but at the end of the day it is dangerous and something could happen. If the point of life is solely to live as long as you can, that sounds like a bit of a drag to me. None of us will make it out of this one no matter how safe we are. When this topic comes up I’m reminded of this quote from a poem I love “Flowering branches grow naturally, some short, some long”. Thanks for being here, thanks for your concern, and we appreciate your continued support. 🙏🏼

      @@codyandvictoria Agreed life is better lived when to its fullest. And it is also worth living long enough to squeeze every last drop of juice out of it. As with all things in life, balance is important. I was young once and and felt all the same things you have described about living for the moment. It's only after many years, when you can look back with the benefit of hindsight that you will truly appreciate that a lifetime of wonderful experiences is worth foregoing extreme risks sometime. There isn't a single adrenaline rush of my lifetime (and I had plenty) that I would trade for the moment my wife and I renewed our wedding vows in a small, 1000 year old church in the heart of Florence, Italy. You guys seem great together. You clearly know what you are doing. Just make sure you stay safe and healthy enough to have your 30 year moment. Looking forward to your next adventure. Stay safe.

    Nice one you guys! As a local to the area and long time Sierra climber I have a few suggestions and really refreshing observation. On third pillar I was interested to see that you didn't leave the pack and your shoes on the top and just descend with the rack/ rope and some water and climb up to your pack. Which then leads me to the pack, see if you can't find a way to leave it in a strategic location that you will return to after the climb, ie. Mt. Goode, I think you'll find it nice to ditch the pack, or at least one smaller pack if you must. Both of you clip shoes to your harness and take a lighter version of that Nalgene for water each. One other thing that you may or may not like, but we started ditching a biner off of each alpine sling and wearing them bandolier style, since every cam has a biner anyways no need to have an extra just hanging there when you extend them, plus since they are bandolier style they are on belay while you clip them to th piece.... Very refreshing to see you using the rope to clip in at the anchor and not having another useless daisy or pas system.... light is right! nice work, a few of my favorites

    • @codyandvictoria
      @codyandvictoria  3 месяца назад

      Hey hey. Cool suggestions. Keep in mind we’re carrying a full sized camera + spare batteries + other things that most climbers don’t have to carry 😅 otherwise we would totally ditch the backpack! Also wouldn’t want to do that descent in our rock shoes which is why we harnessed the shoes.
      Curious about the alpine slings though!
