Multiple boats broke loose from their mooring due to high winds in Hurricane Ian. Both boats, with the assistance of significant storm surge, made it into an apartment complex on First Street in Fort Myers. Many vehicles and apartment units were damaged or destroyed by impacts from the boats and the storm surge itself.
After hearing that alarm buzzing for little more than 4 minutes, I know if I live there I'd find the source and angrily yank the speaker out of it. Thats the last thing those people need.
I thought that same thing just 5 seconds in. They’ve been through enough!
@Mike Lewis Nope, that’s an apartment fire alarm. Fire alarms on boats don’t sound like that.
Incredible to see this boat from so many angles, thankyou. The water marks on buildings show the moment in time. Prayers for the people of Florida and all their beloved pets.
did I just see a cadaver searching dog go by on a leash...??
The sun is out and the water is being evaporated in some areas so that's good! I've lived near the ocean my whole life and have lived through many hurricanes in the past in New England, but this one was a whopper! Keep safe Floridians~ ♥🙏
That's why California is the best. Leave that shit in Texas, Florida and come here.
The hurricanes in New England are mild in comparison.
@@mdhassan9197 That's right California can keep those destructive fires. lol
Only the beginning of climate chg hurricanes.💜🙏💜
@@mdhassan9197 ha ha , $8.00 a gallon gasoline, cant have a fireplace, cant have natural gas appliances, and $250k houses selling for $1.5 million, no thanks, keep that overpriced communistic place to yourself.
Us here in Fort Myers took it hard. These images are about 2 miles from my home So thankful we didn't flood.
Have you seen images or video out of cape coral
@@fredharvey2720 i just saw a video from cc. Its ugly
Where abouts are you?
San Carlos park area? Downtownish? Closer to estero?
@@williamsmith9026 Where is there video from CC?
@juju do you think many residents listened to the reports it was making landfall at Tampa and didn’t evacuate?
Wow. Never seen something like this before. Prayers from Alberta
It is really sad watching people after a storm. Life has its up's and downs. You live you die. It is how you handle everything in between is what makes you a legend.
Such a sad time for you guys
I pray that you will recover soon and you will have the finances to rebuild your homes. I pray no outbreak of diseases
What finances? My aunt had all her cash in a metal safe box at home but nowhere to be found. Thousands upon thousands of dollars gone
I moved out from ft Myers to NC 3 months ago. Best decision ever
I moved from Cape Coral to Wisconsin 4 months ago. 🙏
I lived aboard a House Boat in Ft. Myers years ago and kind of lamented that I didn't do it when I retired. NOW am glad that I did NOT!!!
@@michellegarry1872 glad you did. Honestly florida is over rated
@@RealLegoBeast it certainly is.
It was so beautiful there. I evacuated until the 5th and stay in Clearwater. This will take years to come back from completely. Prayers for those now homeless.
Flood cars going to end up going north to unsuspecting buyers. I bet half of them are listed on Carvana right now.
Where do you even begin?
Need help . DRONE FLYOVER Sanibel Island lighthouse 3 to 4 blks in. Mom lives there. Their has been no contact. Need to see if house is still standing.
So many jokes being made about what happened to people here in Florida. It's sad and shameful that so many people lack basic humanity. But thank you to the people in our country who care and are kind. We Florida residents who just survived this, thank you. May God bless .
We do care a lot😢😊😊😊
The ignorant will never change. They ne er offer to help others even with a kind word. Yet when they get a hang nail expect everyone to run to their aid.
Felt the same way when my relatives were dying . And Florida MAGA Republicans were calling Covid a hoax.
I'm from NJ ..we gave had some bad hurricanes, we lived through it , but nothing like us.
Prayers for everyone. 💔
Ignorance will always be a part of generations, it comes from bad parenting and it’s a shame. I will never understand it.
I feel a little guilt, we were suppose to take this hit here in the Tampa Bay Area.
This makes me sick with heartache. I’m sorry for anyone with total losses like these from either Ian or Fiona.
I wonder if those apartments were occupied during the storm and the residents witnessed that boat heading at them.
News report interviewed them, yes
I said samething, imagine looking out and you see this gigantic boat coming right at you, I have nightmares rest my life
My heart aches.. sending my prayers to All in FL .. I know living in an apartment is harder.. you can have renters insurance but that will only cover minimal..
God is in Control. 🙏🏾
May God help all those regain their losses quickly. I Jesus name. This is so terrible. I live in Florida and was spared the worst part of the storm. I'm very thankful. My heart goes out to those who were in it's path.
That was one strong storm to have them boats end up where they did I live in nc when that Storm hit in September 2019 in it was bad hearing the winds in the roads flooded I been through it I know how you all are in Florida keep strong in have faith 🙏
Thank You for your videos to get the real view of this tragedy instead of Fake media.
How many angles of the same boat do we need
It must have been HIS boat Fred! LOL
"Do not lay your treasures up upon the earth..." "You cannot serve two Masters..."
Ok bud
Very true.
Yeah. God bombed them as a reminder. 😂
I keep saying that to myself! Those who risk their lives for things. Climate chg is gobbling up homes & blk mold will gobble up ur health💜🙏💜

Walking through debris with a TV? Not a great look.
I wouldn't bet that it was hers a 12 hours before we seen her carrying it
Now you will see the best and the worst come out!
I thought i was the only one noticing that!
The boat literally ended up in an apartment complex. OMG
But the real question is, who's boat is this boat?
Boat looks better than apts also.
@@spicyirwin5835 LOL 😆
More than one boat, looks like 3
@@sheliametcalfe I did not realize that. Thank you for drawing that to my attention.
The expected path of the hurricane is will known; why not evacuate these expensive boats/cars/aircraft 24 hours before?
🤦 easier said than done cheif. They didn't know EXACTLY where the hurricane was going to directly hit until a day before. Most boat owners there are not from the state. Where do u go with it? Who will have enough fuel? There isn't magically 1k more open slips 200 miles up the coast. Use common sense before u speak bud.
Bless The people of Florida. I can’t imagine. It’s horrifying.
Florida does drain pretty good, But that storm surge must have been nasty to put that boat there...
Problem is our ground was already saturated with heavy rains all summer. worse hurricane I have ever been thru and I have been thru 5. glad it's almost over. my town is almost 75% flooded
I'm over on the east coast in Brevard county, most of the inland areas are still pretty flooded. Same thing over here the ground is saturated from the last month of rain
most of this state is supposed to be water. yall are in the way.
@@denisebycapricorn you are absolutely correct. Mostly swamp. Greed changed the rules.
Dennis is correct. The majority of Florida is literally swampland that developers turned in to cities in neighborhoods.
I have friends that live in Fort Myers I really hope they got out. Prayers to all in Florida
Yep, save the flat screen
I have to say I would have to run away from this kind of devastation - wouldn't look back. I don't think I could handle it. I'm afraid it's going to take years to rebuild. I feel so bad for these people. Soon the predators are going to strike!
Financial predators, be careful not to sign anything too quick.
The woman casually walking her dog. 😂
like the meme.. this is fine 🔥🔥🔥😂
People who own these boats need to move them to calmer waters. Its not like they dont get a weeks notice these hurricanes are coming and yet every time they leave them there to cause havoc.
I'm supposed to be going there on the 10th and its destroyed and flights are flying as normal?!
No where to fly to...
@@CleverGirlLP Well I called American airline and they acted if nothing was wrong no one should be flying in there (unless its to volunteer) if its destroyed cuz its still like 11 days away smh i don't know what to do?!
Should be fine by then.
If the airports have no damage, they are to reopen by this weekend. I heard that on ABC
@@crismcdonough2804 what if the place you were going to stay at is demolished and the car you were going to rent is canceled? Don't the airlines make exceptions for disaster like this?
I can’t imagine how the boat landed there. The power of that storm, unbelievable.
How the boat get in here
Um...honey, there's a Yacht in our driveway
There must be professional boat movers out there. Their going to make bank.
Sad for boat owners. Most do not have insurance because it is too expensive. I had a 45 foot Houseboat and lived aboard in St. Petersburg and Ft. Myers later. NEVER had insurance because it was too expensive. Took a chance and was lucky.
@@larrydewein401 So what happens Larry? Does the City pay for removal, or maybe the State? Are they scrapped, or sold at auction maybe?
@@BillBarber1957 I have no idea! But now that you mention it, this enquiring mind would like to know!
You want to enjoy the beach life, there comes a price and the price will get higher each year.
Holy cow! 😮
How do you remove a huge vessel like that? Surreal. Prayers for all.
That will likely take a crane to remove. Of course it will take awhile before they can even get a crane to that location, there are numerous other damaged structures that will take priority. I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a month to get it moved.
That reminds me of the movie The Day After Tomorrow.
Where does one start?
The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
Holy sh###@ That's crazy!!!
This might be a crazy question: if some of the people in the apartment complex have no where to even sit or lay down (elderly, children) could thry go onto the boat just to rest???
I sincerely hope you never vote or are in charge of anything ever....The crazy part is you are an adult..lol
Yes. Any port in a storm, so the saying goes.
A boat is owned by someone, it has serial numbers that identify it. Walking onto a boat without permission is like walking into someone's house without permission.
Lol
@@jimbbob2220 I asked the same question on several different sites and I was asking specifically in the event of such a life threatening situation; just FYI to a person everyone else said, and I quote, "When it is life and death, you do whatever you can to stay alive. So if I were drowning and I saw a boat that I could swim to or bring people onto; I would use it."
Either you are the most selfish person in the world or you didn't go through Ian and the storm surge. Which is obviously what I was referring to because I wrote it under the horrific graphics of reality.
Starlink to the rescue! I just watched a Fox report that was transmitted via Starlink! You don't have to worry about cables, poles or other infrastructure just point it to the sky and plug in to a generator and you have internet. Man I hope the insurance companies come thru and pay the folks for the repair of their property!
Elon's Starlinks can be adjusted to aid communications in crisis. He did the same in Iran to support communictions on social media during their protests when the Ayatollah cracked down on the internet access.
A lot of home owners had no insurance. A lot of insurance companies have left Florida over that past 2 years. Those that are left are finding anyway they can in order to cancel the policy. In some cases if your roof is more than 20 years old they would drop you unless you got a new roof. Then there is the whole thing with home owner’s insurance and flood insurance.
that exact thing is occurring in other parts of the country
Many insurance companies there have announced they're closing up, and others are simply fleeing the state.
@@hannahpumpkins4359Insurance companies are the richest companies on earth
I used to live here !! It was called The Thunderbird Apartments. Glad I lived on the second floor
Who's boat is this boat?
I think it belongs to the Skipper and Gilligan?
I'm on a boat, I'm on a boat, take a good hard look at the m'fing boat.
I got my swim trunks and my flippie-floppies
I'm flipping burgers, you at Kinko's, straight flipping copies

Those folks should have really good work boots on so glass and nails won’t hurt their feet.
They need to put one of those orange stickers on it. You have 3 days to move or we are going to tow.
There is a big difference living in Miami/Atlantic and the Golf of Mexico.
Those boats practically wedged themselves in between those apartments! How are they gonna get them out?😥
Florida will have a giant wrecking yard for these totaled vehicles. I wonder how many floated and have since have sunk?
Wow, amazing. Going to take some pretty heavy equipment to drag those big boats out of there. What a mess...
If they are insured they will be considered a total loss. They are big but not worth millions, they are older boats so less than $100K each. The cost to carefully extract the boat and make repairs would exceed the value. They will likely be cut up with chain saws and taken out in pieces. If not insured the owners will have to pay for extraction but again, they can buy a new (used) boat for less than the cost to remove and repair them.
I hope it blocked some of the water for you all always in my prayers ❤️🙏🕯️🌍❤️🙏🕯️🌍
I'm sure those boats are just fine. Just a little paint and they're like new :D :D :D :D
Removing these very large boats from between the buildings is going to be a difficult process.
Can't imagine being heald up in my home and look out and see one these big OLE things coming straight at you
A little work with the rake and everything will be normal again.
May God help you all.
Looting already
Wow 😮
It clearly says, "no parking". That boat owner is going to get a ticket.
🙏🙏🙏
Insurance companies must be so pissed, and homeowners, boat, car, and business owners that have insurance all must be very happy.

We had one in Abaco that ran through and killed ppl. Got to anchor from now on, especially since you might need it during. And the cars.

Basically, this video is of a boat.
Is this the USS Minnow?
What gets me is why is everyone frying and acting Luke they are a victom .? This is florida we have huracanes. If you don't like what the weather is like and does don't live here . And if you choose to live here you should know we get huracanes every year Rolling threw. You should be prepared for the worst . It's all part of florida living .
Beginning to look like Haiti.
Scientists and engineers should be working on ways to stop these in their track. I understand satellites can detect an eye forming when its about 1/4
of a mile across. Small enough to have one of the weaker walls blown apart with munitions or microwave technology. It's time we try to control this terrible life threatening hazard.
You cannot stop nature. It seems more logical to just not live there.🤷🏼♂️ They call it hurricane season and it happens every year.
@@mykelcohen Don't think lazily. Yes we wouldn't live in those kind of places ,but people do, and the path is always changing . It can be done, and we should try,
