That's one of the reasons why I don't read comic books. (Even when I watch a superhero film and have a brief superhero phase.)
On top of that, the sheer number of issues these series have is something I find intimidating. Especially when dealing with series that have been lasting for decades. Like a never-ending sitcom or soap-opera.
Not to mention all the comic book series dedicated to alternate timelines.
At most I read the occasional comic book pannel I stumble across online. Sometimes I'll read summaries written by avid comic readers. From the looks of it, readers seem to have a love-hate relationship with comics. The quality of these stories seem to improve or diminish depending on the author. Other times, a storyline can seem promising, only to have a lackluster ending, or worse.
I'm not a fan of how some writers trash certain characters. Nor am I a fan of how they break up long-standing couples because they find stable relationships boring.
I'm not sure if I'll ever get into reading comics. Sometimes I just want to watch a superhero movie that adapts the spirit of the source material, while also doing its own thing. If that makes me a "fake" fan, so be it.
(Power to those who *have* read decades worth of comics. I'm genuinely impressed.)

They also made Wanda and Pietro lovers in the comics....twincest
Just because it happened in the comics, doesn't mean it is a good idea.
But, let's be clear, Peter made himself into Spider-Man.
He may have worked for a drunk, uncaring, dangerously irresponsible, cold and heartless Stark later in his life, but Peter had already established himself as quite a powerful superhero by that time.

The UPER thing doesn't count much not because it was just a one-time gig, but because it wasn't Peter Parker. It was "Spider-Man" after that weird machine split the two of them up- a sort of copy/half-Spider-Man that had his powers but none of his sense of responsibility.

I hate how Marvel refuses to let Peter Parker evolve. Just as soon as he gets a job at Horizon Labs or his own company, some boneheaded writer or editor will get nostalgic for the broke and luckless version from the #1960's and have him reset to square one. He can't keep doing that forever.
