Mini Review: Hey everyone! Since the Wooting 80HE is finally in people's hands, I thought it would be helpful to showcase a sound test of some of the most popular Hall Effect switches so you can find the perfect match for your preferred sound and feel! In this video, we’ll be testing: Lekker Switches (V2) Black Knight Switches TTC King of Magnetic Switch Gateron OG Jades Gateron Jade Pros (the best in my opinion) Gateron Jade Max Geon RAW HE Stem Wobble Comparison: The V2 Lekker switches have tighter tolerances but still a bit wobbly in my opinion. Black Knights have a box stem but are also somewhat wobbly. The TTCs have almost no horizontal wobble, but vertical wobble is similar to the Lekkers and Black Knights. Gateron OG Jades show almost no vertical wobble and a bit of horizontal wobble. Gateron Jade Pros have a small amount of both horizontal and vertical wobble. Gateron Jade Max has almost no vertical wobble and just a tiny bit of horizontal wobble. The Geon RAW HE overall has the least stem wobble, with a bit of vertical but almost no horizontal wobble. RGB Compatibility: When it comes to handling RGB in both South and North-facing directions, the Gateron Jade Max stands out as the clear winner - the installation direction doesn't seem to matter much. Factory Lube Comparison: Lekker Switches: Rails are lubed, and there’s a small amount of lube at the bottom of the spring. Black Knights: Only the rails are lubed, with the spring appearing dry. TTC Magnetos: Only the bottom of the spring is lubed, and the rest is completely dry. Gateron OG Jade: Rails are lubed, but the spring is dry. Gateron Jade Pros & Jade Max: Both are fully lubed at every contact point (all around the Stem + Rails) including the stem pole. Geon RAW HE: A bit of lube on the rails, with most on the stem pole. My Personal Favorites: I really enjoy the Gateron Jade Pros and Geon RAWs, but I also appreciate the deeper clack of the Gateron Jade Max. The Black Knight switches and Lekkers feel good, but they tend to have a “dead” sound typical of Hall Effect switches, however if you don't care about sound these will be totally fine. As for the TTC Magnetos, I’d rank them in the middle-they feel better than the Lekkers and Black Knights, but the plasticky sound isn’t for me. Drop a comment if you have any questions, and enjoy the sound test!
I think the sound test you are making with the LCT 140 air could be improved if you don't have the mic on the same table as the keyboard. At least to me it sounds like the mic is picking up the vibrations from the table when you type something. But still a great comparison :)
My first batch of GEON Raws were the 40g ones, and they sounded great but were too light. So I got the 60g ones instead thinking it'd be closest to the feel of the Zakus, which I was on for the longest time. But now I feel like 50g is the sweet spot LOL. Unfortunately for me, that's the exact one that's sold out at the moment.
Initially tried my zinc 80he with TTC magnetos and instantly returned them because they were too loud. Went with the geon raws instead, couldn't be happier. Finished it off using cerakeys 😁
are the cerakeys not too heavy? i personally have the ws dashes but im afraid that the spring just isnt strong enough to make the keys feel responsive as the TTC magnetos would be able to
Geon Raw and Jade Pro are a very similar sound profile and I would say they are both my favorites. Which did you end up sticking to? A shame about the Maxes not being in the same category as the jade pros though cause the RBG they produce is great.
I'm using the raw switches right now, but I'm planning to switch back to the Jade Max soon. I'm not sure which one I'll stick with since I also have a zinc alloy case coming, so I probably switch it up again :D
@@ionutgabrielstuparu6919 i heard that multiple times now and i strangely don’t have that issue on my batch. But i got another set of maxes coming in soo we’ll have to see how it goes 😅
Those lekker v2 60's sound really decent. I already have the Jade MAx, Regular Jade, Jade amethyst limited edition. Just ordered some Lekker V2 60's to try. Currently im using the Jade Max
Just installed the Lekker V2's on my ATK RS7 Pro and I love them the most out of my switches ! The spring in these Lekker V2s feels stronger than the Jade MAx, and the button returns faster. The lekkers feel more of a "gaming" switch IMO. For now, im going to use the Lekkers. The sound is also kind of marbelly and deeper in my ATK keyboard. Another positive point is that these Lekker switches are kind of cheaper than the Gateron equivalents which is great.
The jade pro and the black knight sound really good they have less to none of the hollow spring rattle sound that plague HE switches. They are really close to sounding like mechanical switches
@ hey, i didn’t bother lubing them because i think there are better switches out there. From my experience with lubing open bottom switches in the past (lekkers and whites) it has been quite disappointing. At first they will sound much better but the lube will eventually leak wherefore i never bothered hand lubing open bottom switches again 😅
You should try the Neo lavender switches. I have a short video on them. I have the maxes coming in Tuesday. Very little coverage on the lavenders but i think they sound and feel pretty good after lubing
Which one are the loudest of the raw he and jade pro, and who do you think gives the most clack? A little hard to hear from the video so i thought id ask for your opinion instead!
How do you get the space bar to sound so deep? Also what mods do you have on your keyboard to help it sound like this, I get my wooting zinc 80he in a month and loved the way yours sounded! The jade maxes sound perfect
I am tempted to buy a 80he, 2 questions. 1) i really want the frost case, worth it? Or ghost better? 2) better route, getting lekker v2 or buying jade pros?
@@schnozzola 1) absolute preference. The cases are exactly the same quality and material. You just have to decide wether you prefer translucent black or a regular translucent look. Maybe think about which keycaps you want to use, that’s usually what i do :) 2) Performance: absolutely no difference. Sound: Huge difference, lekkers are quieter, less clacky but also feel a tiny bit more wobbly and less smooth. Jade Pros sound loud and clacky, feel smoother but also feel a tiny bit heavier when compared to the l45 lekkers. Clear top housing and white bottom which is great for rgb on the lekkers. On the jade pros you always have a slight tint -> if you want to setup an all white backlight, it will be slightly blueish/greenish. In the end it’s just a preference thing. In my opinion there’s no wrong or right, just wether you like the sound or not. In my own opinion the Jade Pros are the best Hall Effect Switches available right now but there’s a lot of people that don’t like the loud clacky sound they produce and you’re best bet for a quieter switch are definitely the lekkers.

I would suggest the Geonworks Raw HE for best performance and sound per dollar with many weight choices and the tightest tolerances and least stem wobble while having the least or 2nd least amont of friction I have ever felt in a switch in my life (this is based on my own experience with Lekker L60, L60v2, jade, jade maxes and Raw HE). "they stick more to a keycap than to the switch plate which is very concerning and may damage ABS keycaps." How would that damage the keycaps or be concerning at all? different plates use different tolerances, for example some designers use 19.05mm, some use just 19mm. Additionally, larger stem tolerances are beneficial as with low friction thermoplastics I have had many problems with keycaps falling off due to a lack of connection between the stem and switch How is pc known to have a problem with friction, the aqua kings are a full pc switch and are held in a very high regard to be extremely smooth. If the switch has problems with scratchiness, that is the fault of a poor choice of two thermoplastics, and has nothing to do with pc on it's own. Finally, what the fuck does the "performance" of a switch even begin to mean, they all do the same thing, none of them do it better than others. Some might be more comfortable, or more pleasurable to use for a given individual, but that doesn't even begin to mean that it has a "better performance"
