The entire thing is actually quite an apt metaphor for Aguirre the wrath of god. Sam learns he can take control and cause chaos without repercussion. Then, in the end, his freedom to do anything caused him to be truly alone.
You're PC is literally not in the real version of the world. But yes, there is a non functional star system and most things in the game are half baked. still rules though

If it wasn't capcom the base would be a modders paradise. ppl are doing some decent revisions atm, but you just know they will eventually get you network banned.

They don't get mad when you kidnap a nun and throw her into the ocean, but as soon as you unsheathe your weapon in THE SOLDIER TRAINING AREA, everyone immediately loses their sh*t.

its kinda interesting because i had the same thing happen to me, but when i asked my friends they all had agressive npcs in their playthru, guards would attack them during night if they trespassed and etc.
Yeah I'm dumbfounded by this video, because in my game I dropped my controller and accidentally unsheathed my weapon, and I shit you not before I could even pick up my controller I was tackled and sent to prison by a guard. In my game they are autistically over-aggressive.

Main gripes: The game routinely disrespects actual HOURS of gameplay, and deletes your saves without warning for the distinct purpose of forcing replay. Thowing is pretty dope (in general). "Uncle Ricoing" is the best thing I've ever heard. Great points made in this video, the fact that "thief" is a class, but no stealth or consequences hadn't even occurred to me.

As a guy named Colin who lives in Baltimore, I really felt that this video spoke to me.
What's worse is that there's a game mechanic called the Dragonsplague: it's a disease your pawn gets while fighting drakes or they can get it by spending time with an infected pawn, it worsens as time passes but what _matters_ is the final stage: by the time they have glowing red eyes if you rest at an inn, your pawn goes insane and kills everyone in the area.
But it's completely inconsequential since after a few days everyone respawns making the mechanic completely pointless.
To make things even worse is that the first major patch of the game does not addresses any performance of difficulty issues which the game desperately needs, it focuses *on adjusting the mechanic that doesn't have any gameplay impact whatsoever*

The funniest part is, once you unlock the thief's ability to pickpocket in combat - you can use it out of combat, too.
You can just walk up to any npc, nudge them super aggressively, and steal whatever they had in their pockets, and they just don't care.
Funnily enough, though, I had the opposite effect. I put the mask and fancy clothes on, took all my weapons, and gear off only to get beat down by the guards as soon as I walked in.
Sam being given the cold shoulder silent treatment by the game is the most hilarious thing ever. As we saw with his Tarkov video where he relished off people begging, the lack of anything is the ultimate Uno reverse card.

Its actually wild the primary complaint is people not aggroing to you considering when playing with my buddies on discord all i heard from them was how they constantly were aggroing the guards and getting arrested.

@@DeathLaughz Did you complete the quests where you talk to the guy in the cell, and where you sneak into that one dudes room to find evidence? It seemed like for me after that point guards arggroed more often and for more minor things.
@@Th3Espr3ss0 when I did that the guards aggroed once, and they pretty much just didn't ever after that. The "stealth" missions are just sprinting through the castle and no one gives a shit

Funniest mechanic in this game is when your pawns can get sick and start disobeying you and having purple eyes and when you rest in a town, they can essentially nuke it and kill everyone (even essential main quest npcs) if you didn’t treat them properly or throw them off a cliff to the brine.
Its funny seeing people flip out when hmthey can revive whole towns with a single wakestone and it carries on like nothing happened

Ong when he started rambling about how no one cared about when he stabbed a nun in the streets and threw her to the worms just to turn around to absolutely no one batting an eye, it very much gave me the vibe on The Man's last conversation with Judge. If i remember correctly, he talks about the bears who dance and don't, it made me think that Sam was Judge in that moment only he was the only bear dancing on an empty floor. He danced and danced in so many ways yet not once did anyone join him. He alone played the music of violence in his display of blood and death. He alone was left to the silence in the end, an empty audience from the start.

As someone who enjoyed both games, he basically has at this point. I feel like 2 is slight iteration and basically plays like dragon's dogma 1.4 or something. Still really like it, but yeah.

23 years ago, in 2001. Gothic 1 featured NPCS who ran up to you, warned you, drew their weapon, and attacked you, if you entered their houses, touched their stuff, or stole their property. they would beat you down, take back their property and all of your money, and then refuse to speak with you further. if this happens with essential NPCs you usually could pay a broker to mend your reputation. but not everyone. if you killed someone from a faction, That entire faction would become hostile. its terrible that 23 years ago such simple reactivity still remains rarer than Hen's teeth.

This is like that twilight episode where the guy breaks his glasses, you are in world where you can be as evil as you want but no one cares.
Sam spent like 30 days trying to lockpick his cage in Kenshi, and immediately got his ass handed to him while trying to escape. It's often said that in Kenshi, the world is completely indifferent to you; that's an inaccurate statement. In Kenshi if you fuck around, you will most assuredly find out. They will beat you within an inch of your life and sell you into slavery, for stealing an eggplant. In this game, you can do whatever you want and the entire world doesn't give a shit. You don't have to use exploits to get unfair advantages, like in Kenshi: all you get in this game are unfair advantages.

Dragon's Dogma 2 is my favorite game in years, but this is honestly my biggest complaint too. I wish it was more punishing. I want guards to fuck me up. I want to go to jail. I don't want quest important NPCs to respawn, i want them to be dead. I want to completely fuck my progression to the point where the game says "lol just kill the dragon fucker"
It does all of those things, his game is fucked from modding, and he's "surprised" about it. Did you think that the freecam he used was built-in?
@@Halosrighthand it does not do all of those things. I've played the game, I don't need to be told what it does and doesn't do. The consequences the game presents aren't real. NPCs respawn with time so wakestones don't matter, the brine isn't dangerous, the guards mostly don't give a shit about you doing absolutely anything, the jail system is a joke. I've played 100 hours of the game and haven't been to jail once because the guards just don't give a shit 90% of the time and are completely nonthreatening when they do decide to see me do something
@@connormccarthy2745 NPC's DO NOT respawn after time without Wakestones, unless they were killed by the brine. The guards most certainly do give a shit about crime, you can be arrested very easily. I just don't get why people lie like this, it's so easily proven wrong lol

@@Fuzely the combat is easily better than anything else in the open world RPG genre, better by a mile for me. The way they've integrated physics is mind blowing, think of it as a completely organic stagger system. I usually prefer action games to RPGs and this one nailed it for me.

Those opening cinematics 2:21 took me on a trip down memory lane back to Sam's Fallout 4 era, minus the throwing a deer at a cyclops part.
I think there's actually some kind of AI bug, because my game the NPCs are super aggressive if I even enter the jail for example. Punching a random civilian in town got the whole town guard after me until I had to flee the city. But you're not the first person I've heard having braindead AI
The guards have been aggroed on me in vernworth my whole playthrough after breaking out the old guy.
Meanwhile I pulled my weapon out in the capital city and was chased plus attacked by every man woman and child in the vicinity into the fucking woods where I had to hide out for 3 days in order to return.

The throwing mechanic is also a very effeicient way to deal with monotanous combat. No more chewing through HP bars, just throw off the cliff like its Baldurs Gate
The ending music and slowmo really feels like old school Sam videos, I got a little nostalgia

Who would have thought, Sam didn’t like the game that lets you act like a psychopath because it doesn’t let you act like enough of a psychopath.
It doesn’t actually. The game doesn't seem to notice. You can grab a wife in front of her husband, throw her into a crowd of people and then throw her off a cliff, and the answer of the game will be. “Ouuuuuuuo🫠, what happened? I don't know. She’ll probably just appear next to her husband and no one will notice, everything’s fine.” It’s just stupid and breaks the immersion immediately. The game would be 100 times better if I could actually throw the annoying NPC off a cliff and thereby get rid of him forever, like in bg3. The game even shows an animation of him being eaten by worms in the water, so that he then appears behind me as if nothing had happened! What the hell is this???
Because there's no consequences. Play any decent rpg and you start going around killing towns folk, you get guards after you. You get bounties to pay off if you want your rep back. Some games actually have the merchants refuse to sell to you because of it. It feels like a lifeless world which is crazy cause they make such a big deal about the npcs having their own lives or whatever the studio bragged about, just to have it be completely pointless and just a cpu drain

@facundomontivero2299 when a game immediately kills the player, ends the game because you killed a friendly, or immediately made the entire game npc population hostile and invincible to the player, that's the extreme end. The game reacting to what you do within the systems of the game is fair because that's what it's for, so like the stars on gta or any game with a bounty system for crimes. The game not reacting to what you do and essentially making it pointless is not what you want if you enjoy a more chaotic or evil playstyle. So with this game, unless it's just bugged for him, it's part of the third group. For myself, why should I care if apparently no one except who is supposed to die can die? And those that can die are gonna be either scripted npcs or the enemies. That's kinda lame to me if you're offering this kind of world but making it limited what the player can do, especially right after baldurs gate 3 came out and costs 10 bucks less.

There is a pickpocket system but its locked behind leveling the theif, its horrendously broken too you can loot end game gear out of lesser dragons.
I’ve never seen this I always get in trouble instantly if I accidentally hit someone or kill someone tho I noticed if a guard doesn’t see you they don’t give a crap unless you mass murder it depoenss I slayed the whole village and saved at an inn and killed everyone guards can over power you even with the best armor if the stun or get you no hp they arrest you I’ve been playing over 53 hours didn’t start story and yeah it’s fun but some things are a pain just the I convinece of fighting and more just comes or a boss
I didn't have the respawning issue on ps5. In fact, I lost a pawn, that was carrying tons of loot to the water and never found it again. Wasn't in the rift or walking around, just gone.

The thing that got me to quit playing was taking my mask off if front of the guard to enter Bhattal. He could clearly see I was a human, but putting the mask back on made me Beastren again. Dumb.
