  • We won at One Lap Of America in a big beastie HellCat Charger with this new Yok, and ran top times at ChampCar Road Atlanta on the Flyin’ Moose, too! The new Yokohama AD09 is perfect for DOT-tire endurance racing and track days, because it has almost the grip of the sticky AO52, but lasts much longer and is better in standing water. Randy recommended 👍👍

Hey Randy, I'll look into these to compare with the tires we currently run.
Thanks for your Cadillac auto vs manual review in the past. That got me thinking. I'll be testing an auto in my car next week after seeing another recent auto vs manual review by grassroots

    I’m running the AD09 now on my 718 GT4.
In stock GT4 sizes, it’s my second favorite tire to run and MUCH better than either of the OEM options (Cup 2 & Dunlop Sport Maxx Race 2)
HOWEVER, the one tire I love more (but is never in stock in GT4 sizes) is the Goodyear Supercar 3.
It was the OEM tire on my previous SS 1LE and I loved it. I put it on my current GT4 and it transformed the car. They are just always on back order.
The AD09’s are pretty close to the SC3, but the SC3 has just a bit stiffer sidewall, grips better in colder temps (50ish and above) , and has slightly better ultimate grip.

@@DannyK426 I’ve run many 200TW rated tires over the years and for my use case (street, no track) they are all pretty similar.
What causes them to wear out sooner or later depends more on the platform they are on and the weight of the vehicle.
On my GT4, I see about 6k on the rears. I always replace all 4 at the same time to keep the understeer/oversteer balance.

AD09 costs $115/tire more than falken azenis 615k in our size, and even more than the continental extreme contact force that's popular in AER these days. Over the course of a season that makes a pretty big difference in budget enduro. Hopefully we can save up to give some of these more premium priced tires a try one of these days.

@@randypobstofficial thanks for the quick reply, I didn't see an email or notice from youtube but I came back to check a couple weeks later. Do you happen to know if AD09s or A052s are less dangerous when the pavement is freezing or nearly freezing? I don't think I want the summer sacrifices of an all-season tire, but would be nice to be able to sneak in some around-town sportscar trips when the temperature is 30-40 degrees F during the fall or winter. My old set of tires are Hankook RS2, they are great except when the temperature is freezing.

  • @nofascistsonmywatch

How were/are these in deep(er) standing water.
Obviously they are going to be better than the Yok A052s, Nankang CRS V2s, (or AR1s), Falken RT 660s, etc. in those conditions.
But are they as decent in deep puddles as the other 'endurance type' 200 TWs, the RT615Ks, or Hankook RS4s?? (ALL at full molded tread depth, of course.)
I already have a set (in 215/40-17 going on 17x8s on a Fiesta ST) which are not yet mounted on their wheels, so I just want to know what to expect from them in those conditions, is why I ask. 😉

I think so? Check TireRack.com 😁 got an offer I could not refuse on 1LE Turbo-4 a year ago and let her go. Miss it! Got old Tesla Model S to learn about the electric ownership experience. I really like it for daily driving. Instant torque is addictive. And my car has the free supercharging - my Uncle Ralph Miser Gene loves that! Sometimes I miss shifting and I still love good exhaust notes, of course, forever.
