Fun lore about the blade: it's capable of cutting anything, up to and including reality. It's more than a simple weapon, a divine metaphysical artifact with capabilities our mortal minds can barely comprehend. excellent work!
You can even see reality bending around 6:30 as you're forging it!

This was the video i watched while drinking a cup of coffee and having cig first thing this morning, nice start to an early thursday start time at work. Too many favorite parts of the build to mention all of them, but i liked when when you took time to make a punch for one of the pieces in the build. Needless to say, it came out fantastic, definitely top of the list so far ⚡

Just subscribed. I'll tell you that what you made launches you to the top; why? : it's definitely impractical (but awesome) and it's out of your wheel-house.

Very cool blade. Just an observation is your anvil a little low? Take care of your back.
It's actually is a little low. Only by about an inch or two. At my old shop the floor was dirt and there was a divot where I stood to work. So the stump was cut to sit in slightly higher ground. I have plants to build a new anvil stand soon

What I did with my FB business page (because I kept getting banned for memes) was create a separate FB page with the company name but make it a page as if it was a person. Then link that page to the business page and de-link my personal page. Basically you’d have a Old Hickory Forge personal account and link that to the Old Hickory Forge business page, then remove your actual personal page from the business page. Use a different email than your personal account.
I was into knapping flint and obsidian before I ever got into blacksmithing and that without a doubt is not obsidian it’s man made glass that was spray painted which is stupid because there is black man made glass too and that would have been more believable. However Obsidian, even black obsidian is almost never solid black, it will have semi translucent bands in the material almost like the grain of wood which is the different layers of material being laid down at different times in that lava flow but the difference in time in the layers can be minute to minute as the material might be slightly different chemically in that short of time and that what creates the color change or bands in the obsidian. Also Obsidian can be shaped like that but it’s an extremely labor intensive process and very costly as a result but man made glass can be shaped like that from the start and require very little work to true it up

Seems like an awful amount of work, couldnt you have just tried to take whatever knife you have lying around and put in in Kanais Cube with 25 Deaths Breath, 50 Reusable parts, 50 Arcane Dust and 50 Veiled Crystals?
I like your channel and your work. As a geologist I hate to tell you, but you got screwed over - that was never obsidian. Tainted glass at best.
Yeah I figure that out later in the video when a bunch of the paint gets scratched off. It was only like 5 bucks so not that huge a deal. Just glad I had extra

It's called a die grinder. It's actually a really awesome tool. I use it mostly for cleaning up the eyes of hammers.

If you have even a casual interest in knives and sword you should watch Lord of the rings for nothing else then the armor and weapons. Each one is a masterpiece

I have been waiting for a long time for someone to actually forge this dagger. I have seen many foam & aluminum props made that all looked really cool but were not a real dagger. Awesome job at keeping it as close to the original game weapon. One day I would like to hire someone to make one for me. I was a huge fan of the game.

Love your channel man. I actually bought myself a mr volcano because of your edit on them. Im 4 months in and i already made a 400 layer, 9 inch long bowie. Oh my lord dude you gotta see lord of the rings at least, harry potters just as good but even if your not a huge fantasy guy they’re still amazing stories with beautiful renditions. Any who the blade is fucking beautiful. Stay strong, fuck cancelation and the haters.
The only impracticality that I see in the dagger , is the forward pointing barbs under the pommel, otherwise I don't see a problem. Elegant piece of work.
My guess is the concussion from your Hammer strikes is literally vibrating your camera.
