I really enjoyed learning about how different businesses apply Theory X, Y, and Z to manage their employees. I believe there are valuable insights in each of these theories. The approach to employee motivation should align with the relevant theory; for instance, Theory X might be more effective for unmotivated employees, while Theory Y suits those who are self-motivated. I particularly appreciate Theory Z's emphasis on long-term employment and gradual promotion, as I believe this fosters loyalty and a strong connection between employees and the organization.
I had never heard of the theories X, Y, and Z before this video. I think this helped me understand the differences and how the theories impact employee motivation and productivity in the workplace. Human behavior and motivation is something that changes among different types of people and this helps showcase this.
This video provided a clear and engaging explanation of Theories X, Y, and Z, making it easy to see how they apply to different management styles. I found it especially helpful to understand how each theory addresses employee motivation and the balance between control and trust. It’s a great resource for anyone looking to improve team dynamics and workplace productivity.
Understanding the different theories helped me understand why corporations/ businesses may be more successful than others. A company that dominates in Theory X reminds me of what occurs in sweatshops and how it's not any concern for the employees personally, but more about the product. While Theory Y pushes towards individualism and independence, depending on the employees, there still needs to be a sense of direction. This understanding also leads me to believe that theory Z is a good balance of both.
Knowing the various theories made it easier for me to comprehend why some companies or businesses may succeed while others may not. Every theory emphasizes a distinct facet of human motivation, and how each is applied frequently depends on the workplace, team dynamics, and corporate objectives.
This video got me thinking about my previous place of employment. After learning about these theories, I was able to quickly come to the realization that my manager there was a Theory X manager. We were constantly being punished for things and yelled at and she thought this would motivate us to do our jobs “better”. Which it did only because everyone was very scared of her and just wanted to stay on her good side. She is a big reason of why I left that job, because I was going to work in constant fear of doing something to make her mad. This created a very unhealthy and toxic work environment, and she has caused the turnover rate to be very high. This to me just proves that a business with only operating only under Theory X will not be as successful that they hope to be.
Human behavior and motivation is something that changes among different people and different employees. I think this video does a great job explaining how leaders and management have a direct change on how employees are motivated. I hadn't thought much about this prior to this video.
I really enjoyed how these concepts relate to other topics of business management, including creating a workplace culture that effectively identifies and fulfills the employees' needs. This lecture expands on the three theories that managers create for others, and how this creates a structure in the workplace. The great difference between these theories are somewhat conflicting, and lay as a basis of how a manager creates a course of action to motivate employees.
I am a nursing student and just stumbled upon this after learning about Maslow's Needs Theory. You explained it so well that it is very understandable. Thank you!
The video taught me that every theory emphasizes the crucial importance of matching management style with presumptions about human motivation, which impacts workplace culture, productivity, and employee satisfaction.
This was my first time hearing and getting to know about the X,Y,Z theories. Is really important to understand how human work regarding productivity and what can get them to be more motivated to achieve more at work.
I feel like no theory is better than the other. When it comes to X,Y, Z theories I feel like they can all work depending on the field of work you are doing. I think that these theories are a great way to figure out how to motivate your employees and figure out what style would work best in your line of work.
This video was really interesting because I heard a lot about X, Y, Z theories but never knew what it meant so this video really helped me understand it better. I liked how i understand better what X, Y, Z management do and is like. Each theory has been helpful to me to see what management type there is in the company. I personally had seen all the different management in my work life
Understanding each management theory and the situations where they are most effective is something I find very important. Theory X and Theory Y represent two distinct approaches to management, and I think Theory Z does an excellent job of blending the two. The idea of combining management styles from Japan and the United States was unexpected to me, but I believe it works quite well. Learning about these theories and when to apply them is both fascinating and valuable for understanding effective management strategies.
This is one of the many times that Eastern and Western ideals combine to form a new whole. Ouchi's Theory Z is one that I personally find myself trying to embody in my limited supervisory role, as the assumptions are ones that I have, and I try to ensure that the cashiers under me feel secure and happy at work, such as by offering them food or drink whenever I buy some.
After watching this video, I learned how a manager's perception of their employees influences factors in productivity. It is important for a company to have a strong management style that helps improve job satisfaction and increase commitment so that it can also help increase the company's productivity.
Theory X and Y's contrasting views on employee attitudes and management styles are eye-opening. And Theory Z's emphasis on cultural values and long-term employment relationships adds another layer to the discussion.
learning about the different theories will definitely help in being more effective. Everyone is different and works differently this helps understand it better.
I really enjoyed learning about how different businesses treat people based on Theory X, Y, and Z. I believe in all of these theories there is something to learn. I think that the way an employee works and is motivated should depend on which Theory is used. If there is an unmotivated employee, you should use theory X but if the employee is good at motivating themselves, you should use theory Y. When it comes to theory Z I really love how they focus on long-term employment and slow promotion I think this will easily lead to a loyal and connected employee.
The mixture and use of theory X and Y is something I am familiar with in my own work place and have noticed how the shift towards Y is noticeable once employees have been there long enough to know the ropes but it is still a balance where at times one maybe used in the wrong occasion and causes poor results. Knowing the differences and proper application of each is crucial to successful outcomes with employees.
After watching this video, I learned that how managers view their employees influences their management style. Theory X managers view their employees negatively and assume they don’t like their job. So this results in a manager who is very authoritive and closely oversees their employees. Theory Y managers have a more positive view of their employees and are more friendly with them. This is the most popular one. Theory Z is where employees seek support and want to build relationships with their co-workers. Theory Z managers will be more involved with their employees and have them involved in desion making.
This video, which shows managers how to take advantage of their employees' motivations and strengths, is really helpful, in my opinion. What kind of businesses apply theory X or Y and theory Z is intriguing. America and Japan both have effective management approaches that they can borrow from; the two combined are powerful.
I was very confused about Theory X,Y and Z before watching this video. After watching I have a better understanding and gained useful knowledge not only in classroom but in real world.
I learned from this video that all theories stress how important it is to align management style with human motivation assumptions, as this affects workplace culture, productivity, and employee satisfaction.
Learning each theory has definitely shaped my point of view. Each theory shows each position can be influenced be the simple characteristics of a person in a posittion.
I really enjoyed this video. I have in fact used some of the information from this video in my work since. I am a manager and this video has helped me understand that different people are motivated by different things and this video helped me to navigate through difficult situations involving motivation employees.
All three of these theories are very important to understanding human motivation. While I am more familiar with Theory X and Y, I had not known of Theory Z. The theory seems to be a more personal approach to the organization rather than an individual such as a manager. All three theories help to understand why managers and organizations act towards their co-workers or employees.
This theory is very interesting and it allows more than two different ideas to come together and shows us strong leadership and shows you how to handle different management styles.
Learning and comprehending each theory, as well as the circumstances in which it would be most useful, is something that I consider to be of great importance. Both Theory X and Theory Y are distinct approaches to management, and as a result, I believe that Theory Z is the best way to combine the two approaches. Combining the management styles of Japan with the United States was something of a surprise to me, but I think it turned out rather well in the end.
This was more interesting to learn what type of Theories are used in the workplace. For example, in the video theory x and theory y are said to be used the most in the workforce. This indicates that repetitive work and experts are what make up the mixture. Having high staff turnover and much freedom is what the workplace has a little bit of from each side.
I honestly didn't know much about the different theories. This video was super helpful and I'm sure I'll be able to use this information in future classes as well as outside of the classroom.
This topic was something I found out about in this class, I didnt know much about the three theory's and enjoyed watching over the topic in the video lecture.
I find this video very helpful, how managers use their employees strengths and what drives them to their advantage. What type of companies use theory X or Y & theory Z is fascinating. Both Japan and America have good management styles that they can learn from, a combination of both is compelling.
I was not familiar with theory x, y, or z before this video. After watching it I think I can teach it to someone who wasn't familiar with it. It is also cool that I was able to identify where I land on the theory spectrum.
It’s interesting to see Theory Z explained after learning solely about Theory X and Y from a previous class. It creates a lot more of a variety rather than the two polarizing ends of X and Y, blending strong leadership and employee flexibility together.
Theory x takes pessimistic views, theory y takes optimistic and positive views, while theory z accepts work as part of the persons life. Theory z and y seem like they should prosper the most, as y is of positive management and z is more inclusive, but there are always exceptions to every rule.
I love this theory. Once I learned and understood this theory I wanted to strive to be a theory y manger. However, this video added in theory z and I was very intrigued. Now, I believe theory z is a wonderful combination of both.
Before this class and lecture I didn't know anything about this topic so i found this particular lecture very interesting. I like to know about the different theories and different management styles.
How managers use their employees' skills and motivators to their advantage is demonstrated in this video, which I find to be quite helpful. It's interesting to see what kinds of businesses use theory X, theory Y, or theory Z. Both Japan and America have effective management philosophies from which they might draw; a hybrid of the two is intriguing.
I think it is very interesting to learn and understand each theory, and in what case it would be best used for. Theory X and Y are very different management styles, so I believe Theory Z is a great combination to bring both together. Putting together Japan's managements and America's was a little unexpected to me but I believe it works very well.
Learning of Theory X, Y and Z is interesting and working with multiple companies and different types of organizations, it makes you wonder how or why organizations run the way they do. Not all are ran the same way.
I think understanding the things that drive individuals is important in the chase of efficiency and profitability. Competition in the market drive businesses to understand all the ways possible to improve. To bring the best out of their employees to increase the success of the individuals and business alike.
McGregor's Theory X and Y, along with Ouchi's Theory Z, offer insights into employee motivation. Each theory highlights different aspects of human motivation, with their implementation often depending on the work environment, team needs, and organizational goals. Balancing these approaches can foster both productivity and employee satisfaction.
I am familiar with Theory X, Y and Z from a previous management course. I have come to realize that not one business or industry strictly follows one or of the other theories, but rather a mixture of all of them to produce the best results and outcomes.
Each theory has its pros and cons and theory Z seems to create a good balance of both. Theory X and Y both seem like ultimate extremes which could use revision. However, there are some people that believe in those theories and at the end of the day, the employer has the power which method to implement.
Managers can be categorized into three groups: X, Y, and Z. I can say that since I started working when I was 16, I've worked with each of the three types of managers.
I have a better understanding of the X,Y,Z theory that relates to Maslow's hierarchy of human's motivation. and how to help employees be more motivated in the work places and which theory's is more successful.
Different managers will use different styles of management to fit the needs of the organization. I believe that neither X nor Y theory should be used solely because they show the exact opposite sides of a spectrum. While they both have their positive and negative factors, if I had to go with one I believe that I would go with theory X since giving workers too much freedom will make the company inefficient in the long run.
How is the job rotation is one of the principles of Theory Z although it's written in my book that it's specialized career paths in the characteristics of Theory Z?
I think understanding all of these theories and using the good bits from each one could make a very well balanced manager. I don't think there is almost ever one inherently correct answer when it comes to management so when you use all of this information it could be beneficial.
