During my college career, this still remains one of the most interesting videos I have watched. I consider Hofstede's Cultural Framework to be vital knowledge in understanding culture and I wish I would have understood it much sooner. In knowing this framework, I have a basis in understanding other cultures and how they compare to my own.

I never knew what the Hofstede Cultural Framework was before this course, but now that I know what is it, it seems very important when trying to understand culture. I like how informing the public on cultural diversity can also bring everyone together, as we can understand each other better. Seeing the different approaches in Hofstede's findings, I found it very useful when learning about what culture diversity is.

The only thing is that now I know the reasons behind them as well! Thank you very much for your work. I`m doing some bits of business for interest, and such videos brilliantly satisfy it

Hofstede's Culture Framework in correlation with culture in different societies. The importance of knowing culture norms, and social norms in different countries can make or break your experience overseas. I love the debate between individualism and collectivism- I side with a collective society, even having grown up in the US.

American business culture is different than other business cultures around the world. It is imperative in the United States to understand the cultural background of different people from varying backgrounds to better manage and run a business. I believe that Hofstede's metrics serve as valuable tools for comprehending the nuances of various cultures, and individuals involved in international business or any international engagement could greatly benefit from mastering these measurements. This video taught me how diversity not only is a good thing but something we need to help diversify culture not only in jobs but all aspects. The framework consist of power distance index- how acceptable, individualism v. collectivism - whether society works together or not, uncertainty avoidance- degree to which a society engages in conflict, masculinity v. Femininity- how harsh gender roles are, long- term v. Short-term orientation- extent to which society views time, indulgence v. Restraint- extent to which society allows gratification.

I believe this is a good video on Hofstede's theory about how cultures work. Even though he was only looking at one company, I believe he did a great job nailing down some key aspects about different cultures. He hit the nail on the head with individualism and collectivism, and how the U.S. and Europe are more individual, while Middle East countries are more group-oriented and collective as a society. This video is good to explain why some countries do the things they do; great video!

Hofstede's culural framework helps in the breaking down and understanding of how and why societies influence and change the course of business. There is an endless list of factors affecting the trajectory of business, but Hofstede creates a simple and concise understanding of the influence of different curltures. The main point I took away was understanding that every country's businesses are going to be run depending on the culture of the specific country. It is so important to be open to learning of other cultures and how they do business in order to maintain successful business amongst themselves.

Because we all have different backgrounds, we can all bring new ideas to the table which is very beneficial in the degree that I am going for (Marketing). I enjoyed how this video took Hofstede's cultural dimensions theory and showed how countries created their values. The idea is very simple to understand that countries cultural values are created by the interactions within the country. Many countries are just now receiving foreign investment long enough for us to see how foreign impacts can actually alter a countries value as well. I believe that there is more that can be said about countries and their values beyond just the Hofstede theory, but the theory works well in showcasing it simply.

Although I am from Hispanic decent, I was born in the United States and as the video mentions I follow the individualism idea. Being independent and taking care of one's family is the most important thing for me, and although I have noticed people from Mexico do find themselves relying on a group for survival more than themselves, it is a principle I would never see myself following. Overall, it is compelling how the United States and Mexico can be neighboring countries, yet they are very different from each other.

The Long-Term Orientation vs. Short-Term Orientation dimension is interesting to analyze. An example from the video was that one with a long-term orientation would be willing to take blame for a faulty product. In these countries, there is probably more correction and adjustment because the people believe in a future goal. They improve what they have to suit future needs. On the other hand, countries that have a short-term orientation are more likely to terminate efforts if something goes wrong. There is more waste in these countries because they will scrap an idea if it is not fulfilling the requirement.

This video was by far the best explanation of Hofstede's Culture Framework that I have received in a course. For the most part, other courses would just list out the different categories are. It was much easier to get a grasps on the true meaning of the framework when you look at real life examples of different cultures.

Thanks for your comments. I am sure different professors will help you understand the topic from different perspectives, lol.

This video was full of great information and I love learning about to individualism and collectivism and how people tend to take care of themselves and their immediate circle of family over overall society.

I think it's important to have the feeling that your voice matters within your nation. This would give a citizen gratitude and grit to fight for their country.

A very good summary of a model I will likely use throughout my business career, which makes it good to come back to from time to time.

Growing up in a bi-racial family I learned a lot about cultural differences and how different cultures and traditions might conflict with another. Being able to learn and dive deeper into this subject matter through this video has opened my eyes to the expanding horizons of diversity in the workplace and global economy. This is my first time hearing of the Hofstede's Cultural Framework and I'm sure it won't be my last.

This video is very interesting. I am currently studying International Human Resource Management and company culture is one of the topic we are trying to cover. This has helped me to understand a bit about the culture and why it is of great importance. Well explained! Thank you very much ❤

This video had great examples of other walks of life orientation, and was easy to understand that the differences in culture across countries discern the ways that business is done across different cultures.

I really enjoyed this video. It is very interesting to me the difference between the long term and short-term orientation. It makes sense to me that the United States falls under the short-term category. I also liked that with each culture there were countries tied to them to give better ideas of what the culture is like.

The dimension from the Hofstede video I find most interesting is that of Short vs Long term orientation. The remark that "Short Term cultures value tradition only as much as it fulills social obligations" really hit home. I believe that trait, which the Hofstede model associates with western cultures, is a double edged sword. Few barriers to innovations that give an advantage, but a lack of caution to changes that might haev serious costs over the course of several generations.

This video interests me because I think someone new to international business would not always think of this aspect to it. When thinking of business, most people probably don't consider their culture a factor to how their business operates because that is just how businesses in their culture operate. However when the cultures are different and you are doing international business then it plays a huge factor in how successful a business may or may not be. Hofstede's Framework also, as the video mentions, is useful outside of business practices in understanding other cultures and getting rid of stereotypes/negative perceptions.

This video is pretty interesting because it is always fascinating learning about other cultures. Growing up in a Italian/English family there was a lot of Individualism as it was scene more to protect the family over anything else.

Hofstede's cultural framework is undoubtly useful in business. I still think more could be added to it though. For example, Hofstede limited himself by using only employees if IBM. It would be interesting to see if his predictions are also valid in other industries.

I found this lecture to be one of my favorites! Learning how the way people are in different countries and the way they have specific terms was super helpful. I always knew some countries to be more relaxed and some highly restrictive but I now know that they can be described in terms of power distance, uncertainty avoidance, etc. I've known some European countries to be very relaxed but I found it really interesting that France has a high uncertainty avoidance. It was super neat to compare the different terms to where I'm from (Honduras). Such an insightful video!

It is extremely interesting to see how the U.S stacks up against other countries on the scale. Being ranked on highly on indulgence was a given.
