Ive never played anything that actively punishes you so badly for trying to play solo. Everything forces you to go into trade to upgrade and i hate it since i play on console and trading in general os just a pain. Im more or less ssf as i havent traded a single thing, but its been a painful grind to upgrade gear to progress maps by myself
I think trading kills the whole point of the game. People just buy their entire setup. SSF all the way. They should just triple the currency drops in that game mode so people can create all their own gear
I’m playing standard league but pretty much I’m playing like SSF because I personally like the grind, if there is something I desperately need then I’ll buy/trade. This game is in its infancy, it gets better every patch, patience is a virtue

this comment didn't really age good, if you played previous versions of Path of exile, you will realise that 1 divine is 100 exalt and most casual cant even grind 100 ex so good luck having some GG gear bud.
I really really dislike how much the devs seem to want people to use trading in order to get good gear, while simultaneously not putting an actual auction house in the game.
As an SSF player, wish we had more agency in crafting. Last Epoch crafting struck a good balance of RNG/choice. Capping resistances has made the crafting experience pretty frustrating basically every good item if it doesn't hit double resists.
If your not SSF right now, got to POE trade. Spend 1 exalted orb on gigga good items. Once your nearing maps the amazing items cost 2 exalts for now. Crafting is good but for a while, trade is by far META.
@@Gavinbelson If your gear is "perfect" after spending 10 exalts the game wouldn't have 500,000 people playing it. Rare items that cost 2 exalted orbs with 4/6 good mods isn't even close to perfect. One of the great things about POE is how high the gear ceiling is. Dropping 20 exalts to get through early/mid teir maps doesnt make the game over lmao
I literally know i will never be able to craft a piece of gear thats as useful as what i can trade for. My gearing consists of currency exchanging EVERY single valuable thing in my stash to exalts then browsing poe2trade and spam whispering for gear. Works every time
As somebody that came from earlier days of BDO this "crafting" (gambling) system actually feels great. I still agree it would be better if we didn't have to rely so much on trade etc. But I love the rng on upgrades. Makes the moment you get what you've been trying for feel so good.
It's kinda weird how they've decided to make it work with currency. First they say how crafting will be important and you'd always want to craft your items from the very beginning and then you don't even drop currency to craft them, and if you do craft them it's still nowhere near as deterministic as in PoE (or rather it's pure RNG), which is funny too cause PoE's crafting in the world of ARPGs is considered pretty much RNG :D This shows how bad PoE 2 crafting is currently, the game needs a few more orb types that do different stuff, especially considering the bench is gone so you 100% rely on drops and basic orbs that are scarce af. And trading of course but first you need to get to the point where you can farm to trade YOUR loot too. Game is definitely bare bones but that's why it's beta. It will suck in the first months because we're just guinea pigs testing stuff for them :D
@@Micromation Yeah in theory it's great, but if you make people pick whites from the ground to craft on them, you have to give them currency to do that 😂 You can't just make loot barely drop and then when it drops you still can't craft on it cause you don't have orbs 😂 Makes me wonder how did they even think this is ok to release, even for a beta, did they play this version themselves and think it's good ? Ngl first time GGG gave me D4 dev team with the "i don't even play my own game" vibes 😂
@@Micromation Many extra steps cause in PoE your inventory gets cluttered with rares in minutes (sometimes seconds), and all you do is just filter the trash. Now they went for the opposite approach of items not dropping at all, but forcing you to craft an item instead of filtering them from the ground, except it's like they told you to build a house for yourself and gave you bricks but no tools 😂
I’m not interested in trading items, but since I don’t have hundreds of hours to grind currency, I decided to purchase some to use on the items I’ve found. Since then, I’ve been enjoying the game a lot more. Yes, it's basically identify with more steps.
Does a damage modifier only add damages to similar attacks, (eg +2-4 fire damages adds 2 to 4 damage to my fire attacks). Or does it add it to all attacks from a weapon (so a physical only attack would get 2 to 4 additional fire for each attack)?
Why are there no rune slots on wands? using a shield with a wand now for a build, and iam left with only 1 slot on the shield O_o Allso,. what does the upgrade item to weapon really do? No visible change when i use it on a wand
Decent Aug, decent Regal, and then absolute trash Ex slam. Repeat until you have 0 currency and no upgrades. GGG please give us some sort of crafting bench to put ONE decent stat that we need so we don't have to waste so much currency on junk and then having to grind some low level zone for hours.
I dont know if the item im picking up is worth upgrading... Lets say i find a grey lvl 66 warstaff.. and roll good first 2 blue stats.. its then worth going to yellow ? If thats bad stat its better just to sell it ? What determines if the item in picking up gonna be a high dps wpn? Is it only the stats in rolling or are there different ones with lower and higher "base" dmg ?
@@MrJeden you can get good rolls no matter what item level it is, but those good rolls can only roll so high b/c they would be lower levels. so a max life on an item level 5 could be 10-15 life and then that same item but level 90 would be 140-150 life. (stats aren't accurate i'm just using those numbers as an example.)
Considering how low droprate exalterad has, compared how Lucky you have to get to get a good item it seem waaaay better to just sell ure exalted and try to buy a good one on trade
Can anyone tell me why he has the mace and shield? I thought they didn't act as stat sticks in this game..? I keep seeing people with shields, or 1 hand weapons that they never seem to use.
I might be wrong but I think it's because they put movement based skill gems on them to traverse maps quicker. It's why you never see them using them when doing showcase videos like this when they are sitting in camp.
He right. He has a block move from the warrior tied to the shield and a jump slam tied to the mace for traversing the map and getting out of trouble in tight spots. As long as you have the attributes and the weapon you can put any skill on any class
The item level determines what tier your mods can be, the higher the item level the better chance your mods will be a high tier, you want to use the highest item level you can so you have the best chance at getting huger tier mods. The item level does not have to match your charge level

@wudijo are the uniques Erian’s Cobble helm & Knight-errant Mail Sabaton boots both good for Gemling Merc? Using them now for mine and without proper resistances survivability is tough
What level are you? Erian's Cobble is a leveling unique. It has a lot of stats with low values. Knight-Errant doesn't really have anything valuable on it except for Iron Reflexes, but if you're low level and need the movement speed it's fine.
I really hope the limited crafting wasn't a decision and more of a time constraint issue. there's no question poe 1 was overbloated on all ends. at least for someone who wanted to pick up the game. but currently it's feeling way too dumbed down. add to that the fact that the crafting materials are ridiculously rare apart from the basic ones (even after the update). i'm in act 3 and I have gotten less than 10 exalted orbs which is crazy. that was like 40 fucking hours of gameplay like what GGG? it's (barely) enough to keep progressing with some additional unnecessary grinding on top but where is the fun in always having 0 regal orbs? they could double these drop numbers and still be pretty low. I wonder where all the experience is from more than a decade of POE1 not gonna lie. crafting is a huge part of poe and I want to engage with it. not just getting to slam an exalted (or using it for trade) once every 3 - 4 hours of playtime. the higher orbs I haven't even seen yet.
Oh my god I didn't know the crafting table just appears mid act 3 I didn't think you'd get it till end game, if I knew this and what it did I'd have 500 more tabs filled with trash for the joy of recombining gamba lol actually fuels my dopamine item gamba rush trying to salvage good bases from trash. Funny how this system is so well thought out and fun compared to D4, where I'm instead just always miserable rerolling even when I get what I want. Poe gamba is always fun, even when you make trash out of trash, it can still become not trash and I love that so much.
Having never played PoE1, I've been extremely disappointed with the crafting in this game. Love everything else about it, but good lord crafting blows.
Thx for the video - what role plays the item level (shown with alt - hovering over the item)? Has it any effect on the strength of the enchantments or are they completely random?
There are certain item level breakpoints which determine which tiers of mods can appear on your gear. For example (just making up numbers here): an item lvl 60 chest could roll up to T7 life, but item level 70 chest could roll up to T8 life. If you want the actual data, visit POEDB
Higher item level is what allows the better modifiers to even have a chance of appearing. For example you can't get anything better than a life roll of like 5-20 on a level one chest piece. Different modifiers have different items level breakpoints you can look up if you're curious.
So based on what I just watched it really looks like trading in POE2 is probably going to be worth your time more than crafting the right gear. As someone who's played a bunch of D4, I can say this doesn't feel good to me in my opinion. I thought in the stream they said they wanted you to craft but really doesn't appear that's the best way to upgrade your gear. Really unfortunate. I hope crafting improves overtime. The dopamine hit you get crafting something really good vs just going to trading really takes the wind out of my sails.
Corrupted gear is sometimes found but usually you can Corrupt your gear either using Vaal Orbs or other methods. Corruption either with make an item 1) Do nothing, 2) Add a random modifier, 3) Change the item completely / destroy the item. The ups are being able to get something possibly quite beneficial added on the item itself and downsides are getting nothing or even worse destroying the item entirely, the other issue with corruption is once corrupted you can no longer modify that item. Which can make the value drop, or potentially increase in value if the item does roll a modifier that is valuable.
@menaceiwill1 he's describing Poe 1 corruption orbs which could use the Poe 1 chaos orb effect(reroll all mods on a rare item). Poe 2 chaos orbs remove one mod and add one mod, which is FAR less likely to brick your rare item, and can in fact make it better. An additional outcome he didn't mention is adding an additional socket slot, even above max (I have 3 on my crossbow now). On unique items, one outcome is rerolling the mods, but with a range larger than normal. For example my boots which can roll 3-5 max lightning red were corrupted to +6 max lighting res. Be careful corrupting uniques with negative mods, because it can make the negative mod stronger than before and totally break the item
I am one of those currently few once loving melee. As soon i got to the *"Trails"* ... did all & faced the boss... i kicked the melee Char directly. ZERO fun & *totaly* unfair vs ranged Chars. • Why not gain in the trails 3-4 different *"trail-skills"* a char ONLY can damage the Endboss, so all chars must use THE SAME (ranged) atacks to take down a boss. As by now, melee chars are OUT until this is smh totaly fixed. Sad.
Currently it’s almost more optimal to focus on 1 defence from either es, evasion or armour. Merc (your crossbow guy) can spec best in either armour or evasion. My personal preference is evasion but high evade gear requires high dex and considering you’re running a class that needs both dex and strength so I’d say see which stat fulfils high armor requirements and spec into that. Or else get missing stats on gear for evade. (Also ranger and monk benefits a lot from evade because of that evade aura and tailwind)
When half your comment section is ppl stuck at act 2 normal complaining about mechanics they haven't even engaged with yet, you tend to cover the 2M gold you got grinding 100h/week
Why does he have high %physical damage on his Crossbow? All grenades basically do elemental damage don't they? Am I wrong to look exclusively for %elemental damage?
Yes. Each skill will give you a “converts #% of phys to the element” so they’re converting your physical from your weapon. This way you can use multiple skills with different elements and not lose damage.
@@KarimBishay Looks like i found out why the grenade build felt a bit underwhelming then, i was looking for + ele on the crossbow instead of looking at it the way you said, i.e. physical damage being converted into x element. Although i can blast packs pretty easily i felt like the damage was just not great.
@@DoctorStrange01 Glad it helped amigo, just remember that in this game increases to phys don't work now that you're converting, you still want to get increases to the type of damage you're dealing, increasing phys won't actually scale your damage even though it's taking phys from your weapon
Crafting on POE2 is really putting me off playing and makes me want to go back to POE1 There are some things that most def need adjustment. I am level 80, doing level 14-16 maps and I am still using my Level 45 weapon and level 21 boots because I cannot find or "craft" (Aka Gamble) boots with movement speed. Got 0 exalted, but carrying hundreds of transmutation and agumentation orbs, 4 dozen of alchemy orbs, almost 100 regals and 70 chaos orbs, and about 50 vaals. I also got 1 lesser jewellers orb and most of my used skills are only 2-3 sockets, 2 of them are 4. I got a few decent belts and thats about it. Everything else is still mediocre and only my gloves are expert. Normally I wouldnt mind, hey in POE1 most of my gear sucked until late end game but 2 main things: I could farm divines or chaos orbs to trade with others for better gear or I can craft gear and add specific suf/afx. Here I can't even trade because most people use exalted to trade, but exalted orbs are essential for gambling, I mean "crafting" This was not a problem in POE 1 since nobody never really used chaos or divines for crafting (at least not at the beginning of end game) mostly because it wasnt needed Very off putting.
The only way to get meaningful upgrades right now is trade. I want atleast a crafting bench where I could put atleast affix of my choice. But still you’re sitting on regals and chaos, currency trade them to exalts and get your gear man. Gambling ain’t worth it.
Absolutely don't believe that you are running t14 maps and have seen no exalts. I have more exalts than I have bases worth using them on, and I'm only t3 maps. I am using about 60% rarity which might be why but you've still been extremely unlucky. Ditto with lesser jewelers. All my skills are 3-4 supports

If you dont believe me just watch any video and check peoples inventory, you will see an abundance in most orbs but almost always 0 exalted. And the same with lesser orbs, that might be my RNG but I got barely any, currently I have 1, and I just checked I have 124 h in the game
Too much trading required for good gear at the moment. It doesn't drop naturally and cannot be crafted with a reasonable amount of certainty in the outcome. This is not the type of gearing I like to see in ARPGs.
"Crafting" if you can even call it that is in a god awful state, finally made it to maps and had to spend and hour on trade trying to fix my resistances with what little currency I had because getting actual useful drops to upgrade simply doesn't exist. Game is in a bad spot
100% agree on crafting being in a bad spot. Trading shouldn’t be the most efficient way of getting good gear. I am of the opinion of trading being for min-maxing and regular game play should be able to get your build online.
I'm crafting upgrades almost every day, honestly imo it's in a great spot to start from. Obviously they will power creep and increase crafting currencies over time, but feeling like some blues are worth IDing and exalts are actually worth using makes the game feel way better to me. I hated the alt spam of Poe 1 even if it was faster to get upgrades. 2k clicks for one regal attempt felt ass
@@ArtIsLifeninty was able to SSF and “crafting” comfortably until I hit the tier 4-5 quests waystone quests. Then at that point I had plenty currency to make myself completely OP. It’s not that bad I’m just guessing y’all in here those POE 1 “vets” that just whine about everything in this game.
1. The game is in a great spot for a EA 2. They keep hearing the feedback and fixing things asap 3. Coming from maple story (not comparing the entire game) but interacting and trading is a one way to upgrade everything and accumulating wealth if you don’t have the patience grinding for gear 4. The game is not easy and wasn’t meant to be it’s not Diablo

Builds are not “stolen” nobody “owns” a build…. It’s just a game ffs, grow up, play more games and complain less, because nobody really cares. The crafting and trading in POE 2 currently has really made me appreciate how great Last Epoch's system for crafting and for trading are.

Easy fix, have a SSF mode where you can't trade with players but you can use the currency exchange. (or balance the SSF mode with more currency drops)

They even got rid of the "trade market" that consoles have in POE1. Waiting to ppl to get online to buy something or to stop playing to sell is lame

Just keep farming the market, exalt for your 2 lesser J > into 6 lesser J for your exalt put em up every night before you log out, never run out

Use essences and you most likely get what you ask for (one decent Stat)

item level determines how high each weapon/gear stat can be. that site he mentioned will tell you which stats can then roll on said weapon/gear.

Can anyone tell me why he has the mace and shield? I thought they didn't act as stat sticks in this game..? I keep seeing people with shields, or 1 hand weapons that they never seem to use.
I might be wrong but I think it's because they put movement based skill gems on them to traverse maps quicker. It's why you never see them using them when doing showcase videos like this when they are sitting in camp.

He right. He has a block move from the warrior tied to the shield and a jump slam tied to the mace for traversing the map and getting out of trouble in tight spots. As long as you have the attributes and the weapon you can put any skill on any class
Should the item level you are using match your level generally?
The item level determines what tier your mods can be, the higher the item level the better chance your mods will be a high tier, you want to use the highest item level you can so you have the best chance at getting huger tier mods. The item level does not have to match your charge level

All parts of the game are, as far as I know, available on all platforms. I can do it on Xbox. It unlocks in Act 3, but I forget exactly where.
Anyone know why I can't craft in the currency tab? Whenever I right click the orbs to slam it just asks to set a note and it's driving me insane

What level are you? Erian's Cobble is a leveling unique. It has a lot of stats with low values. Knight-Errant doesn't really have anything valuable on it except for Iron Reflexes, but if you're low level and need the movement speed it's fine.

there's no question poe 1 was overbloated on all ends. at least for someone who wanted to pick up the game. but currently it's feeling way too dumbed down. add to that the fact that the crafting materials are ridiculously rare apart from the basic ones (even after the update). i'm in act 3 and I have gotten less than 10 exalted orbs which is crazy. that was like 40 fucking hours of gameplay like what GGG? it's (barely) enough to keep progressing with some additional unnecessary grinding on top but where is the fun in always having 0 regal orbs? they could double these drop numbers and still be pretty low. I wonder where all the experience is from more than a decade of POE1 not gonna lie.
crafting is a huge part of poe and I want to engage with it. not just getting to slam an exalted (or using it for trade) once every 3 - 4 hours of playtime. the higher orbs I haven't even seen yet.

Oh my god I didn't know the crafting table just appears mid act 3 I didn't think you'd get it till end game, if I knew this and what it did I'd have 500 more tabs filled with trash for the joy of recombining gamba lol actually fuels my dopamine item gamba rush trying to salvage good bases from trash. Funny how this system is so well thought out and fun compared to D4, where I'm instead just always miserable rerolling even when I get what I want. Poe gamba is always fun, even when you make trash out of trash, it can still become not trash and I love that so much.
Having never played PoE1, I've been extremely disappointed with the crafting in this game. Love everything else about it, but good lord crafting blows.

Thx for the video - what role plays the item level (shown with alt - hovering over the item)? Has it any effect on the strength of the enchantments or are they completely random?
There are certain item level breakpoints which determine which tiers of mods can appear on your gear. For example (just making up numbers here): an item lvl 60 chest could roll up to T7 life, but item level 70 chest could roll up to T8 life.

Higher item level is what allows the better modifiers to even have a chance of appearing. For example you can't get anything better than a life roll of like 5-20 on a level one chest piece. Different modifiers have different items level breakpoints you can look up if you're curious.

How does one upgrade the physical damage on a crossbow?

Ive seen you can add 2 sockets the 2 physical damage runes.
Improving the quality with blacksmith’s whetstones and using the 20% phys dmg rune. And hopefully just getting a good drop.

So based on what I just watched it really looks like trading in POE2 is probably going to be worth your time more than crafting the right gear. As someone who's played a bunch of D4, I can say this doesn't feel good to me in my opinion. I thought in the stream they said they wanted you to craft but really doesn't appear that's the best way to upgrade your gear. Really unfortunate. I hope crafting improves overtime. The dopamine hit you get crafting something really good vs just going to trading really takes the wind out of my sails.

Does anyone know what happens if I get a corrupt armour piece. I see 1 more stat maybe but I'm really unsure what it doe , like ups and downs
Corrupted gear is sometimes found but usually you can Corrupt your gear either using Vaal Orbs or other methods. Corruption either with make an item 1) Do nothing, 2) Add a random modifier, 3) Change the item completely / destroy the item. The ups are being able to get something possibly quite beneficial added on the item itself and downsides are getting nothing or even worse destroying the item entirely, the other issue with corruption is once corrupted you can no longer modify that item. Which can make the value drop, or potentially increase in value if the item does roll a modifier that is valuable.

Even Vaal orbs are unsure of what will happen when you use them to corrupt so it’s a gamble.
@menaceiwill1 he's describing Poe 1 corruption orbs which could use the Poe 1 chaos orb effect(reroll all mods on a rare item). Poe 2 chaos orbs remove one mod and add one mod, which is FAR less likely to brick your rare item, and can in fact make it better. An additional outcome he didn't mention is adding an additional socket slot, even above max (I have 3 on my crossbow now).
On unique items, one outcome is rerolling the mods, but with a range larger than normal. For example my boots which can roll 3-5 max lightning red were corrupted to +6 max lighting res. Be careful corrupting uniques with negative mods, because it can make the negative mod stronger than before and totally break the item

I am one of those currently few once loving melee. As soon i got to the *"Trails"* ... did all & faced the boss... i kicked the melee Char directly.
ZERO fun & *totaly* unfair vs ranged Chars.
• Why not gain in the trails 3-4 different *"trail-skills"* a char ONLY can damage the Endboss, so all chars must use THE SAME (ranged) atacks to take down a boss.
As by now, melee chars are OUT until this is smh totaly fixed.

Does crossbow class is good building only on evading stat??
Currently it’s almost more optimal to focus on 1 defence from either es, evasion or armour. Merc (your crossbow guy) can spec best in either armour or evasion. My personal preference is evasion but high evade gear requires high dex and considering you’re running a class that needs both dex and strength so I’d say see which stat fulfils high armor requirements and spec into that. Or else get missing stats on gear for evade. (Also ranger and monk benefits a lot from evade because of that evade aura and tailwind)
With acrobatics, it’s best defence you can get

Yes. Each skill will give you a “converts #% of phys to the element” so they’re converting your physical from your weapon. This way you can use multiple skills with different elements and not lose damage.
@@KarimBishay Looks like i found out why the grenade build felt a bit underwhelming then, i was looking for + ele on the crossbow instead of looking at it the way you said, i.e. physical damage being converted into x element. Although i can blast packs pretty easily i felt like the damage was just not great.
@@DoctorStrange01 Glad it helped amigo, just remember that in this game increases to phys don't work now that you're converting, you still want to get increases to the type of damage you're dealing, increasing phys won't actually scale your damage even though it's taking phys from your weapon

Crafting on POE2 is really putting me off playing and makes me want to go back to POE1
There are some things that most def need adjustment.
I am level 80, doing level 14-16 maps and I am still using my Level 45 weapon and level 21 boots because I cannot find or "craft" (Aka Gamble) boots with movement speed.
Got 0 exalted, but carrying hundreds of transmutation and agumentation orbs, 4 dozen of alchemy orbs, almost 100 regals and 70 chaos orbs, and about 50 vaals.
I also got 1 lesser jewellers orb and most of my used skills are only 2-3 sockets, 2 of them are 4.
I got a few decent belts and thats about it. Everything else is still mediocre and only my gloves are expert.
Normally I wouldnt mind, hey in POE1 most of my gear sucked until late end game but 2 main things:
I could farm divines or chaos orbs to trade with others for better gear or I can craft gear and add specific suf/afx.
Here I can't even trade because most people use exalted to trade, but exalted orbs are essential for gambling, I mean "crafting"
This was not a problem in POE 1 since nobody never really used chaos or divines for crafting (at least not at the beginning of end game) mostly because it wasnt needed

The only way to get meaningful upgrades right now is trade. I want atleast a crafting bench where I could put atleast affix of my choice. But still you’re sitting on regals and chaos, currency trade them to exalts and get your gear man. Gambling ain’t worth it.
Absolutely don't believe that you are running t14 maps and have seen no exalts. I have more exalts than I have bases worth using them on, and I'm only t3 maps. I am using about 60% rarity which might be why but you've still been extremely unlucky. Ditto with lesser jewelers. All my skills are 3-4 supports

If you dont believe me just watch any video and check peoples inventory, you will see an abundance in most orbs but almost always 0 exalted. And the same with lesser orbs, that might be my RNG but I got barely any, currently I have 1, and I just checked I have 124 h in the game

Too much trading required for good gear at the moment. It doesn't drop naturally and cannot be crafted with a reasonable amount of certainty in the outcome.
This is not the type of gearing I like to see in ARPGs.
"Crafting" if you can even call it that is in a god awful state, finally made it to maps and had to spend and hour on trade trying to fix my resistances with what little currency I had because getting actual useful drops to upgrade simply doesn't exist. Game is in a bad spot
100% agree on crafting being in a bad spot. Trading shouldn’t be the most efficient way of getting good gear. I am of the opinion of trading being for min-maxing and regular game play should be able to get your build online.
I'm crafting upgrades almost every day, honestly imo it's in a great spot to start from. Obviously they will power creep and increase crafting currencies over time, but feeling like some blues are worth IDing and exalts are actually worth using makes the game feel way better to me. I hated the alt spam of Poe 1 even if it was faster to get upgrades. 2k clicks for one regal attempt felt ass

2. They keep hearing the feedback and fixing things asap
3. Coming from maple story (not comparing the entire game) but interacting and trading is a one way to upgrade everything and accumulating wealth if you don’t have the patience grinding for gear
