"We just lost power and got a little emergency here" "We're on our way". No hesitation, no questions. Love how these guys stick together; even if on different vessels and possibly competing with one another. Real men.
How will that affect extra homosexual special rights ?
Those guys aren't illegal mexicans !
I totally agree with that. The fleet is in a way, like a big family.
the other ships captain also had given him a license in exchange for his boat as collateral, the other captain was just protecting his investment
@@humannotanalien8675the boat that responded “ were on our way “ is not the boat that gave them the license, was just the closest other crab boat.
The show never shows it but the whole fishing industry up there is a huge family, all the boat owners know each other and drop everything to help on another.
@@HarrisPropertyMaintenance By Maritime law and SOLAS you have to help a vessel in distress if you have the ability to, the other boat didn't have a choice really 😂
shout out to the greenhorn for saving the day. the girl doesnt even get celebrated. wtg lil sis
good shout, only let down is the smoking, but i guess par for the course in the fishing game, but she was quick to notice and did the welding....impressive
It sprung a leak as soon as she took the helm
@RandomFandom1 but she was on point with that weld repair.
She got her fist bump from the crew.
If you say you can weld when you're hired, and you can't...and you put peoples life on the line...rest assured you'll never get another job.
Yea I mean she’s a greenhorn, she’s a relief captain, she’s a welder.... she’s not complaining, quickly got help was calm and worked through the issue...
The ultimate calmness while under severe pressure, while at the same time seriously exhausted. Kudos Jake😳
“I didn’t like that.” Has to be the understatement of their season. That was nuts, and we see how things can go from totally fine to, oh crap, we’re gonna sink. Luckily, they had that other boat (Coast Guard?) was in close proximity during that situation, but these boats go way far out, and up north, to fish in basically no-man’s land, where they are the only boat for a couple hundred miles at times.
@@cleech74 understated? I am saying that despite his life and other being on the line, the did amazing to keep it together as he did.
@@thetruthologist9922 it's fake man...
He just grabbed a freshly welded pipe with his hands😂
And that’s why Jake is the man… zero hesitation and barked orders to get it done!
He could stand to not be a fucking asshole about it.
@@gretzkysyotes how else you get things done in a hurry, you clearly never been around a concrete guy..
@@gretzkysyotes Like in live-fire warzones, you can't hear a damn thing in that engine room. Screaming outside voices are the ONLY audible noise they can hear over a distance. You can't afford to be nice in these situations.
Jake yelling “MASON” reminds me of Black Ops
The numbers Mason
LEGEND has it that Mason is still checking that welding job to see if it is leaking.
Nothing more permanent than a temporary fix.
@@Tuck-Shop I worked as a mate on both commercial/charter boats for 25 years.
That is the truth !
It's a rush job. Can't expect it to work the first time. They can make a more permanent fix when they have more time on their hands when heading back to offload.
He's got camera on it and an alarm if they do take water but still sending him to check.
Eyes could see if a small leak as sprung before a fullblown leak happens that you could see in camera or set off alarms.
Awesome job from the Greenhorn while under the pressure, well done
lights go out
jake: "MASOOOON"
me: "the numbers mason what do they mean"
Seeing Jake grow on this show to becoming a captain is just awesome. Jake will always be one of my favorites. It goes probably Jonathan, Sig, and then Jake. Easily.
My exact list right here
Greenhorn performs under pressure like a champ. Respect.
My god, the fear in those moments was real. Talk about a tight work space to have to solve a serious problem. Well done crew. 10/10 performance in an extremely high stakes moment. Greenhorn stepped up too. Quickest way to climb the ranks is to bring value. I'd say she brought the bank on that one.
Absolute great work by the entire crew for getting things done, communicating effectively, and especially the guy in the wheelhouse for making sure a nearby boat knew what was going on and was on standby to assist if needed. Absolutely incredible.
Phil and Sig have always been my favourite. Since Phil is gone Jake, as sig’s protégé, has become one of my faves.
There are times when I see Jake as immature due to age, and a down right angry unhinged asshole, but as Navy veteran who has been trained in damage control, this was some bad ass expedite troubleshooting and repair in spite of engine casualty and loss of electrical the resulted in the saving of his boat and his crew. Good on you Jake you deserve a medal.
Totally agree
Jake’s the kind of guy that can lead a troop through a world war. Same grit and stamina, leadership and calmness as Winters from Band of Brothers.
Well played fella. Nice work.
Best of luck from London UK 🇬🇧
That’s what you call great teamwork all around! Everyone knew their role and did it to perfection under scary circumstances. That’s why it’s called a crew!! 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Jake went from a greenhorn deckhand to a battle-tested captain. Respect.
This is one of the best scenes from the show. Doesn't matter how many times I see it. It gets you going. Taking on water in the middle of the sea has to be terrifying.
Nice job Jake and Shy... invaluable skills to have aboard a boat like that.
Great job Captain Jake and crew working like a machine! It’s great to see how far you’ve come.
Jake pat yourself on the back several times. And Shyanne for that welding job. It might not have looked pretty but it did what was needed too. 👍🏻🇬🇧
Jake is a real captain ! How scary would that be ! Like a horror movie
Jake is the most underrated Captain/Engineer in the fleet, dude is a straight up G
Great work by the entire crew. Everyone did their job.
I see so many things on these boats that apply to my job as a power plant operator. The valves, pipes, quick fab work (WITHOUT THAT QUICK WELD, THEY'D BE DONE), leaks, pressure, fear. Ive seen it all on land in a plant, I cannot imagine on a BOAT at SEA.
That's where you need the 5 gallon bucket of tapered plugs and a mallet.
@@fastst1 you are right
I remember when Jake just started years ago.. Awesome to see how far he has come through all the adversity.. Well done Jake.👏🇺🇸
Yep. He was a greehorn on the Northwestern under Sig. Getting to learn from Sig and Edgar was a big help for him.
This always gets me on edge. So crazy and insane to watch. Great job on Jake for fixing it and for the greenhorn getting that coupling welded quickly.
that's the thing on the sea, one minute you're exhausted and just barely collapsed into sleep and the next minute it's balls to the walls you have to be awake right this second and jumping into action with all pistons firing. Jake did amazing!
An amazing display of leadership and team work 👏
Watching this from season 1..I got lots of respect for Jake.. he worked hard to be where he is
Still remember his first season, he smashed it so good the whole crew wanted to give him a share
That wasn’t Jake, Jake’s first season was about him wanting the jacket. The kid who they wanted to give more of a share to was Bradford Davis in season 1
@@Flaggged jacket??? This isn't Hell's Kitchen....
@@PatrickMJr lmfao, nah but foreal rewatch it. Jake worked hard to earn the Northwestern jacket im not lyin
Great example of leadership, when the Captain of the ship takes on a horrifying situation like this.
Hell yea to the whole crew.fucking went into action.Jake is a fucking legend now 🙌🙌
And when the other boat just says “ we’re on our way” fuck yea
Incidents like this are how odd very specific parts and tools fill up engine rooms. 20 years from now that cap is still gonna be down there in a cabinet just in case.
Wow that was INTENSE! Well done everyone!
That was some quick welding on the fly!!..I,m a welder and that was QUICK!!..lol.
These guys are quick and get teamwork great job saga
Damn Jake not only you're a captain you are a fucking engineer. I do the same for a living I would have went in that water just like you did and did everything I can do to stop that leak and sinking of my boat. In distress i would have stepped into bilge pump full of water in order to stop my boat from sinking and killing my crew.
You’re him 😂😂😂😂😂
That’s why it’s crucial to have a bilge pump
Greenhorn knows how to weld...
No chick that young and pretty is on that boat by accident. She might be a greenhorn but she comes from a fishing family and is probably Alaska native.
Old and rusty is a good description of this boat. We have a lot of them in Alaska. Saw a guy using a wire wheel on a grinder to remove rust and old paint. Went right thru the plate. Made more work for me.
How are boats like the wizard able to keep going with how rusty it is?
@@WilleJamesHuff Good paint. I have seen and worked on fishing boats that had fuel tanks filled with cement because they were leaking so badly, concrete patches on holes in the hull and new plate welded over rusted out bulkheads. Like I said, after 30 years of working on these floating coffins, I wont go out on the water in them, not even Puget Sound on a nice day.
@@kolsen6330 I’d never imagined that they were that bad. Did I read right that new crab boats aren’t allowed to be built either?
the way he yells mason, just reminds me of all the cod scenes
WELL DONE EVERYONE!!!
You marry the girl that can weld a repair under duress
F me sea work looks like hell for all on board
Huh. Did she cool the coupling in water before Jake grabbed it with his bare hands? That interesting.
wow, like watching Das Boot!
When are the producers going to realise you don't have to stage drama. Just let us see the reality.
Very few people know what it's like to HAVE TO do something.
Saga is for sale now...
That girl SPOTTED. & fixed a waterleak @ night GFG. Good fucking game 😹😹😹
Shyanne is my dream woman
😷.....😂😂😂
Title should read “Greenhorn calmly saves boat while captain screams and yells”
This might be the very first viewing of why Bob is a POS and a danger to her crew. 😮
Isn’t it funny how the water in the bilge is standing perfectly still even though the boat is shown to be rocking around on the outside?
This is so fake lol it’s sad actually they make it all dramatic and the camera man is the calmest one there
you clearly haven't spent a month out at sea. This is exactly what it's like. Some of it is fake and dramatized but not all of it.
@@tidan4575 90% of the show now is fake lol
Go back to earlier seasons & you'll see just how jarring it is, it feels like a Saturday morning TV show at this point
Come on you should know the cameraman never dies.
Who the heck is that narrator and where’s Mike Rowe?!
He's the narrator for the UK Discovery Channel. Mike Rowe does the North American Discovery Channel.
Scripted, theres so many red flags it's not real the camera crew wouldn't be so calm getting the perfect angle of it were a real situation they have safety procedures and those ain't it
Another part that shows that it's fake is when she hands Jake the freshly welded coupling without gloves on. They would both have severe burns.
Haha nice sketch. Chick welds pipe with gloves on, rounds corner without gloves and hands it to the guy also not wearing gloves. That thing would be red hot if it happened as fast and urgent.
FIRST!!
5:03 vs 6:33. Flat calm during the "emergency" and then huge waves again 1 minute later. It's like they aren't even trying to pretend it's real. This is the fakest scripted drama I've ever seen on the show. Jake deserves a Razzie for this...
Simulated a power outage too. That’s TV for you.
I work on dutch harbor and the weather can change here really fast it would surprise you. It may or may not be scripted. These boats and place is a shitshow. Come on up to Unalaska and find out
@@mendoblendo321 it goes from 6 foot waves to flat mirror calm and back to huge waves all in under 2 minutes? Alaska must exist in a place where physics and logic are absent then...
@RLC2020 you would be surprised how the weather works out on the Aleutians. Yes that can happen very fast
I've seen it calm and change to a snow storm within minutes
@@mendoblendo321 wow, you actually believe the words you are saying don't you? Physics is physics buddy. Waves don't build or lay down instantaneously from one camera shot to the other, that's not how it works bud no matter where you are.
I'm sorry, this felt scripted af.
Wow!!! The power of editing!!! Reality tv is a joke
That's a woman you definitely marry!
I feel like it was a staged thing for discovery channel lol y would your emergency lights flash lol other then tv drama aid
Reenactment because having a big ass camera there would be fucking stupid. Like most things that would be actually dangerous.
Over dramatized shite ......This used to be a brilliant show to watch where things were REAL !!!!!!
How do you go from Mike row as a narrator to this fucking guy? Like nails on a chalkboard
Discovery Channel voice artist Mike Rowe narrates the action for North American airings. In the United Kingdom, voice artist Bill Petrie serves as narrator.
The amount of people believing that this is all real is insane. Yes they were taking on water, but they were taking on water from their own pumps. They just made it look like they were still taking on water, while they weren’t anymore because all they needed to do was shut off their pumps, pumping that water to their crab tanks…. Overdramatized television….
If it truely happended just admit it is a re-enactment, just as dramatic! But damn, y'all suck at acting!
It sure looked that way to me.
Looks legit to me
@@5678sothourn Oh yeah? Then why can they handle freshly welded metal without gloves, and not get burnt hands? Explain that one to us.
@@wesdizz6297 doesn't directly touch the weld
@@5678sothourn You've obviously never welded. The entire piece would be scalding hot. I can't believe you think this is real. It's a made up segment to add drama to the show.
This is so staged. They were grabbing freshly welded metal without gloves. It would have severely burnt their hands if it were real.
So fake😂
Yep. Totally staged.
Why is deadliest catch more entertaining than billion dollar entertainment companies. Disney. Edit: also a female hero without DEI policies.
That’s some bad acting.
why did they add women to this show?
God damn capt'n Jake, after all these years watching you, you're awesome
The show has become so fake to pull people to the edge of their seats. The rough seas, crabs in pots people getting hurt when they show it that’s real, but this stuff is 1000000% fake. Rushed screaming for the coupling it’s burning hot she hands it too him no problem no gloves or anything 😂
It's amazing that people believe that this stuff is real. It's so obviously fake.
Such BS. So so scripted
