      It definitely helps, i use red lock-tite on mine to ensure the drive dog stays put while tightening the prop down.. thanks for watching

    Thank you. I just got the Blackjack 24 inch and blown away by the speed and control it has. I'm sure I'll have to go bigger as in all this RC Hobby stuff makes you do :) But if you add to the 24inch and go up to a 6S please post what you do if you can.

    the drive dog should not be up against your strut. it needs little less that 1/8th space. the flex will tighten at high rpms

    Should I be using loctite on my drive dog grub screw? I also grabbed a tapered dog just for the looks.

    I agree big b I always grease my drive shaft everytime I use it I don't believe in watching it and see how much it uses until I grease it it takes no time at all to do it and it's a lot cheaper buying grease than it is to replace the shaft.

      Couldn't of said it better. Thanks for watching IRONCLAD RC

  • @wincrasher2007
    @wincrasher2007 3 года назад +2

    why do you leave a gap on the shaft on the 24, but don't on the 42? the instructions say to leave a gap of 1-2 mm.

    • @IRONCLADRC
      @IRONCLADRC  3 года назад +1

      The bj 42 has a heavier flex cable that shouldn't have as much flex as the 4mm bj 24. The 42 has like a 1mm between drive dog and Strut.. the 24 flex cable needs room to flex when throttled up

    • @wincrasher2007

      @@IRONCLADRC since the flat spot on the shaft for securing the drive dog is fairly long, I assume that was done to give you some adjustment for the nut. since people are reporting breaking shafts left and right, I'm just guessing this must be the reason.

      Loosen the collet. Take prop off then put prop nut on the shaft. Grab the shaft with pliers just in front of the nut tap the pliers with a small hammer very lightly till it comes out

    • @IRONCLADRC

      Basically, really just make sure the cable is greased throughly before each run and dry boat after each run.

  • @pcooper985

    Your drive dog should be between an 1/8" to 1/4" away from the bushing. You're asking for trouble eventually.

      On this Boat you can only get maybe 2-4mm tops. So I had to file down flatspot so I could slide it back more.
