    This is where the “heroes shouldn’t kill” argument truly becomes grey.
    You’ve got a psychopath trying to kill your mother and baby brother - and in between bouts of fighting to get back to them you see he *broke your mom’s arm.*
    You’ve tried negotiating, you’ve tried giving yourself up, you’ve even been holding back against him. But if you hold back, if you continue to pull your punches - _your family dies._
    This is why it’s called “seeing red”. When you’re think angry, when you really want to hurt someone - you don’t care about the consequences. You don’t even care about the making them suffer, making them pay, you just want them dead.
    Killing Angstrom doesn’t make Mark a monster, far from it. It’s not the act of killing that’s evil, it’s the reasoning behind the kill. It’s never just black and white.
    Deontology doesn’t work in instances like this for a reason.

      Great point it's why I measure whether or not a hero killing someone is wrong by there ability to de-escalate the situation. Superman doesn't need to kill the Joker to stop him but I wouldn't blame Spider-Man if he were to kill Dr Doom because not pulling his punches would kill him in that situation.
      Mark isn't in the wrong for killing Angstrom but he had the ability to just incapacitate him and Mark knew this and didn't do that.

    • @DingoEnderZOE2
      @DingoEnderZOE2 Месяц назад +29

      He absolutely isn't in the wrong for what he did especially when Mark tried several times to defuse the situation through peaceful means. He even tried to do the talk no jutsu and that failed.
      And yet Levy still kept threatening his family and even seriously wounded his mother. From that point the gloves come off and you face the severe consequences.
      The problem then becomes oh shit now that I did cross that line regardless of how justified I was, if I don't have a good support group to keep me in check how many more times can I cross it before I'm unable to keep being myself?

    • @Uberstauffer
      @Uberstauffer Месяц назад +12

      Heroes have an obligation to kill any villains that pose a major threat. The cycle will always continue, and more lives will be lost the longer the hero waits. Incarceration is an option for lower level, less threatening enemies who might actually be rehabilitated. I love Batman, but his refusal to kill the Joker is frankly irresponsible. Seeing Mark finally take that step that he needed to take was exhilarating. Angstrom helped him level up through his actions. He and Debbie are the two most important people Mark can learn from to balance himself out.

    Rex's statement of you wouldn't like who you become kind of proves Levy right to an extent. Most people state "this" Mark is different from the others but the point is under the right circumstances anyone can become the villain including "this" version of Mark. And Levy basically had the memories of 1000's of himself that were all wronged by Mark and all their anger, fear, pain flowing through 1 man. The same way Mark was anger and went off Levy felt that on 1000x

They need to be taken completely out of the equation, or they'll do the same things endlessly. Mark can stop. He'll only kill when he absolutely has to. Also, I'm glad he left college. It was holding him back. He's beyond all that. He needs to focus on improving to fight off the Viltrumites.

    Honestly for me Mark killing Angstrom was a bit of a mercy as well like- think about it! He was originally this chill smart guy who wanted to rule to make sure nothing bad happened even wanting to help other universes…then he got turned into a monster like the Mark’s who had wronged the other Angstrom’s! And his mind was so twisted from his merging with his other reality selves he lost who he originally was…if He killed mark all he would be doing is just killing Marks forever as killing machine the one thing he TRIED to stop. So for me personally Angstrong Levy one of my favorite villains of this show so far! He’s complicated and sure he basically didn’t put up much of a fight and didn’t get much screen time I liked his character a lot!

    The flashbacks you see of Angstrom’s suffering aren’t the memories of the Angstrom who is fucking with Mark. Remember, mean Angrstom absorbed the memories of all his variants earlier this season. He is confused. He cant tell his memories from his variants. His giant ass neck brain is scrambled. It was very touching to see you empathize so strongly with the variants though.
    Debbie was solid in the comics, always Mark’s guiding light of morality. They flesh her out a bit more in the show, but not vastly. She was already a solid character. I’d say most the characters are already good enough in the comics, but the show does make subtle improvements to them. The author has grown a lot as a writer since he first wrote Invincible, and it is really on display with his alterations in the show.
    Season 3 seems so far away. The wait is going to suck. Season 2 is arguably the slowest part of the story, and everything after this point just ramps up and goes fucking bonkers. Every episode of Season 3 will be an utter banger. I can’t wait.
    What Mark did was totally self defense, whether he lost control or not. There was no way for Mark to know if he stopped beating Angstroms ass that Angstrom wouldn’t portal away and go kill Debbie and Oliver. Not that Mark was thinking about any of that in the moment, but hypothetically if Mark ended up in court over it, I think Mark could have gotten off with self defense.

      @grelkie it's like you people think there are only 2 options for literally anything, either let family die or kill him. Mark could have incapacitated him if he wanted to, broke his arms, done anything else to stop levy from being a threat to his family, but he didn't, and there are consequences to that. Murder should always be the last resort, but i don't think it is always morally incorrect. I am just saying, Mark could have done things differently, through talking with him (i get it, that's not very effective, but it is the better thing to do), hurting him until he wasn't a threat anymore, but he went for the easier route, which was killing him. Mark didn't do the best thing, but that doesn't mean he is a bad person for what he did, just that it was wrong and he should have tried something else, but even then, it is okay because he was put in a very complicated situation where his life and his family's life was put in danger, and he needed to do something about it, and doing anything else that wasn't killing him was risky, so it is understandable that he didn't want to take those. Mark shouldn't have done that, but what has been done has been done, and now he needs to live with the consequences of killing someone, which wouldn't have happened had he chosen another way, but it is understandable why he didn't try anything else as it could have risked his family's life.

This "strong conquers weak" is the fundamental core of their own society, so of course they are imposing as a way of governance, rule, and life.

    8:37, 9:26 Only the main Levy from our Mark's dimension has the dimension-travel power and all of his variants don't. He is seeing the memories of different versions of himself here which all are dead now cause the machine exploded an practically live on in this Levy's body since he now has all their minds combined without remembering his true self which was good.

    "The line", is easier to distinguish than you think. "If you X you'll be just as bad as Y" is childish, overly-simplistic, and flatout wrong. Even just saying it, is morally wrong.
    Truth is, you cross the line, when the people you've impacted, _were innocent people, or worse, people you either picked out at random, or who you let get caught up in the collateral of your actions._ The ONLY possible similarities between, for example, people with _trails of innocent victims,_ and *someone who ONLY targets those WITH trails of innocent victims,* are their methods. To say anything less, is to imply we ought to execute the executioner, because he's been cutting peoples' heads off, regardless of the who, what or why of the situation. Or, more accurately, that we ought to jail the police because they use force to serve and protect.

    I love the idea behind Angstrom being used to represent Mark’s character. His mind has been jumbled up with all of the memories of his counterparts and the vast majority of universes show Mark embracing being a Viltrumite. The implication is that even though this Mark is a hero, he still has similar traits to his counterparts when it comes to violence. Mark’s decision at the end represents that Mark still feels that same rage that is emblematic of Viltrumites and now Mark has to wrestle with the fact that deep down he can be just as aggressive as a Viltrumite. Mark beat Angstrom the same way Nolan beat Mark in the Season 1 finale. Essentially the multiverse is used as a way to explore Mark’s character as opposed to fanservice cameos……although those Spider-Man and Batman scenes were fire 😏
    Josh Keaton stays playing Spiders (Spider-Man, Black Spider in YJ, and now Agent Spider) and it feels good 😎

J.K Simmons Nolan’s actor says he’s gonna be in a lot of the next season plus the reason why they’re interested in keeping Mark alive and trying to get him to join the Empire is because of not wanting to waste another drop of Viltrumite blood because of the population and by a certain character but I wont reveal, “He’ll” come soon :)
