im amazed by the quality of these videos. You have a relativly small channel but watching a video of yours feels like watching a much bigger channel. Good job at creating that atmosphere!
Alexandre Chappel I first saw your videos and was under the impression that you were MUCH bigger. Your channel is impressively well done. I have a feeling you are about to blow up if you continue!
I just found your channel and all I can say is great job and keep doing what you do. You have just caused me to start binge watching all your older content. Thank you.
Organizing the workshop is enough of an idea. Have a 3.5 x3. 5 m garden shack I use but over the winter I turned it into a wood storage. Plenty of work waiting for better weather weather.
Two shelves by the battery chargers helps keep batteries organized when you have a needs charging shelf and a charged shelf. Each time you are walking by the chargers you can see if they are done and move the batteries to the charged shelf and grab any on the need charging shelf to put on the charger with no questions of is this charged or not. With permanent spots for the tools spot lights that will light up the work and not have a shadow of the operator with a switch to turn them on/off near the tool helps a ton. No need to strain the eyes looking for a marking when a spot light or two mounted above would help.
Alexandre - do you have a fabrication / prototyping business that you run out of this space with your partners? Tell us about that, if you can. By the way, nice job reorganizing that space.
That under storage idea is awesome. Head room doesn't matter in an office, so it's a win win. I would recommend an L shaped desk when you build. Allows for much more space when computer work spreads out, or for that 3d printer
Hi Alexandre, I watched this video with keen interest and would like to make some suggestions if I may. First, I have a pallet jack as well so I am making custom heavy duty pallets to sit my lathe and surface grinder on out of railway sleepers. If you decide to move either of your two big machines you have to go through the hassle of getting them high enough to get the pallet jack under them again. My 700kg surface grinder has lubrication points at the back so I need to move it every so often to get to them. Moving a lathe is risky at the best of times but having it fixed to a pallet makes it so simple to move. Being tall I find the extra height of the machines sitting on the pallets a real bonus. Nearly all my other machines are on wheels. The empty space your draws need to open will become a magnet to put junk in over time. I had a similar problem so I marked off the outline of the area with 50mm tape so I knew nothing could be put in that area even “just for now”. You’ll see what I mean over time. I didn’t see a dedicated work bench anywhere so I assume that’s still to come. When it does I would suggest putting the drill press as close to it as possible. I’ve been rearranging my workshop for nearly 40yrs and I have learnt that I don’t go from my lathe straight to the drill press very often but I go from the bench to the drill press all the time. It makes sense because you generally mark out your holes to drill on the bench first. I hope you find some of these ideas are useful. Cheers Stuart 🇦🇺
Have you considered partitioning off your office? Fresh air from the outside comes into that first, and then is vented out into the workshop proper. I would have installed some shallow, waist-height shelves around the periphery -- minus the entryway -- and then some sort of clear (polycarbonate?) windows to the ceiling (maybe more shelving hanging from the ceiling, and the windows would go up to that).
Just discovered your channel today and I've been binge watching all your vids. You are talented and skilled and I want to say how much I appreciate your enthusiasm. Also I greatly appreciate watching someone in your age group whose vocabulary consist of more than four letter words. Keep up the great vids. You remind me of myself 40 years ago.
personally, I would not put the desk back in the corner, I would rotate it so it was running above the pull out drawer. Swap locations of the drawers, so the step is against the wall. This way you could face your workshop when working on the computer. Then add some shelves or cabinets where the door/table currently sits. I would also enclose the area from desktop to floor to keep any dust out of the wiring and help keep it looking neat by hiding the wiring.
The wall spot next to the office space is perfect to add a 3D-Printer into the shop. Well worth it for custom fixturing/jigs and plenty of other applications
The cabinet in the corner next to the door has two 3D-Printers. He made a video in the past about how he made the sound proofing because they were loud.
seeing how energetic you are, I don't think you needed that mini step for the desk area :) thank you for the inspiration, I'll do something similar for my desk
chair with casters on a raised platform without wall seems like a disaster waiting to happen, maybe some half height walls to prevent yourself from sliding off the platform?
This is the second or thierd time I see this. It's inspire me to clean my space/ workshop. And inspried me to deal with spece isseus in a diffrent way. Thank you.
You should put a little transition strip bump around the office to add just a little tactile bump in case you're about to roll off the back. Everything looks great!
Very impressed with how you chose to move the lathe. Even more impressed that you did it by yourself. Shop looks great! Always nice when things are organized and space is optimized. Keep up the great work. I really enjoy your channel.
i plan to build a smaller version of that organizer cart only with bigger drawers as in my shop i only got space for a small version and i can buy a prefabbed base with heavyduty wheels on it only thing lefts building the frame and drawers
You are literally living my dream. Watching these videos is making so excited for when I can have my own space to do this in! Fantastic video content. Thank you for sharing!
Great reorganization of your workshop. Impressive. You might want to consider securing your office chair from falling of the edge though. But I like the stairs.
amazing job done -relate to the work itself and to the video made. I'd been added some "safety" line around the edge of the "office" - just to not fell off with the rolling chair.
👍👍👍👍👍 like the way your office looks now. Using a door as desk is not the worst way. I still have a VERY old door which I want to make a dining table as soon as I can go to my workshop in Denmark. Guess it will take some time before I'm able to cross the border between Germany and Denmark. Strange times. Btw. one question: How accurate is your Bosch miter saw? Actually looking for one.
That looks awesome. Great Job. If I might humbly offer a small opportunity for improvement? I'd put forth a casters bar around the edge of that storage area. I'd be a bit leary of the rolly chair's castors 'exiting solid ground' and resulting in a gravity event for the chair's occupier. Otherwise, great job!
I love your videos! I have watched all of them. Your projects are awesome, and your editing is great. However the best part of what you do is your enthusiasm and energy.

Thanks man :) jeah i though about it, that's what we did for our kitchen that we built in an earlier episode. But I felt like it would make the room feel smaller and take up to much space, so I decided not to.
Nice project, but the first time you push your chair back and a wheel goes over the edge, you're going to want to make a balustrade around the office area.
Excelent video! I really like the storage solution under the office area. You should have a bigger audience with this quality content. Keep it up! Greetings from Argentina.
I would suggest that you move the lathe a few feet away from the wall, so that if you ever needed to remove the tail stock you could. shop looks great anyhow!
Found this a bit late....but what about painting the floor stark white? Made a huge difference with lighting and general eye fatigue for me. Great channel and oodles of envy around your Bridgeport and Felder! Two of the best in their fields.....!
Good move sacrificing a bit of storage length that you had lots of to simplify the wheel mounting solution on the drawers :-) About those DeWalt chargers, you should hang them, much much nicer to use one hand to chuck a battery on than have to hold the charger with the other and use two. I have 3 on the wall, 2 normal like those and 1 fast for the flexvolt packs when I'm in a hurry.
I'm impressed at the new layout. Why didn't you re-purpose the table from the end of the room (the one that you cut bits off) for your office table and make a more suitable one for the other end?

Great work Alexandre ! Now that your Bridgeport is finally in its right place, do you intend on bolting it to the floor ? For a machine that's such a massive chunk of metal, it feels really wobbly if you're able to make it vibrate just by hanging on it at 17:35 . That won't help when she starts chooching...
I like what you did, it gives me ideas. One thing I would have done different is the following. I don't like having a desk against the wall in an open space like yours, I would rather put the desk on the opposite side of the platform and build a step on the short side of it. This way you wouldn't need to build a step on one of the drawers and you'll be able to see your shop while editing. Another thing, why not making longer drawers and cut a hole in the bottom so you have the wheels inside of it, you would have a bigger and more optimized drawer even though you would loose the corners with the wheels.
Love the energy and quality of the video. Getting things organized is a bless! May I suggest a raised lip around the floor of the office space to stop the chair from rolling over the edge?
My idea of the large drawers would have been to make them 1/2 the length and have 4 of them. You could have made some kind of an attachment to hook them together. That way when you pull them out you would only need 4 ft. of space next to your office space stand. then if you need something out of the back one just pull it out 4 ft. and disconnect the front piece and slide it out of the way then pull the back part out, the only things you`ll need is more casters and the latchess to attach them together with. Otherwise great video and shop rearrangement. But then again my hindsight is 20/20.
I love your ability to visualize, create, adjust and refine your methods. Very satisfying to watch. How many hours did it take? And do you get much help off camera? Keep up the amazing work!

There's a bit of focus hunting (camera trying to focus back and forth between things that aren't the actual subject) and some rolling shutter effect (when you move, you can see that things behind you behind moving at the top before it moves and the bottom of the screen)
