Success for the Northeast Corridor which has extended beyond Washington, DC into Norfolk & Newport News,VA in Southeastern Virginia & into Roanoke,VA in Southwestern Virginia which needs to be electrified. The state of Virginia has purchased portions of CSX track as well as Norfolk Southern track.

It is the only usable rail corridor as it is not owned by freight companies and freight trains do not bring passenger service to halts and delays. And it is electrified.
