  • This week we had a beautiful IE Tuned MK7 stop into the BDT shop. His friend was rocking a BDT Stage 2 Tune on his MK7, and he wanted to see what the BDT sauce was all about!
    So, naturally, we put the IE stage 2 tune to the test on the dyno, and then of course we gave this MK7 the BDT POWER!
    He was very happy with the switch, especially in the crackle pop department! He will be coming back soon to get a TCU tune, so we will make sure to give you guys an updated video when that day comes!
    Let us know what you think down below, and until next time stay #BDTTuned

    Boost dynamic stickers actually add 10 hp lol 😉

    Those numbers look quite low for stage 2. On Dynapack hub dyno my MK7 GTI with the EQT stage 1 93 tune made 295hp and 368lb at the wheels with only an mst turbo inlet, drop-in afe air filter and ngk ruthenium plugs gapped at 0.024. Boost peaked at 27.6 psi.

      I don't know what you're getting at here? There's no fooling around or manipulation
      That's the straight faqs. STOP looking at numbers. You and everybody else have been told 1000 times numbers me nothing. It's all about stock vs final numbers. Which sorry to hurt feelings we beat eqt and Ie. While keeping it safe and we have smoother drive characteristics. I've had people switch and tell me it's night and day. Faqs are faqs.

      @@boostdynamictuning My stock figures were 222hp and 278lb at the wheels, so very similar to the one in your video on stock. If numbers don't mean anything then why even make comparisons of before and after? For comparisons sake here's a gti with IE stage 2 91 making 312hp and 377lb at the wheels on a similar Dynapack hub dyno - watch?v=vnYF7XgG88A

      @krez060 I don't think you're getting the point. Are you a scientist? If not, this is how a project works. Baseline x3 to verify it's the same srock numbers and tuned nunbers. Same car, same day, different tunes comparison is the project. We did our pulls swapping ecu tunes as video shows. That's how you compare tunes. Not... oh this car made this number kn this dyno. Means nothing if its not the same car same dyno, same day. Which I clearly did. So again, what are you getting at? I beat IE and of story. I'll do it every day in any condition. Come in person, let me show you.

    Interesting, just wondering, doesn't IE make about 300hp and 320tq at their stage 1 tune?

      Looking at numbers on a dyno and comparing to other cars numbers is very misleading. EXCEPT FOR THIS CASE, as we literally dyno both tunes same car. Elevation, dyno setup, dyno mode, cars engine health, weather conditions, fueling and even the calibrator will changes output numbers. Say I did this pull during winter I WOULD EASILY see 10-20hp gain matching your numbers. When making a judgment on a tune, you really need to base it off support, and a big one is driveabilty. You can have a 600hp car, but no driveabilty then what's the car worth. Sorry to blabber on but hope this shed like on people who look at numbers. Also if you care about numbers then you ALWAYS judge numbers from the cars stock numbers, to the finished tune numbers. That's an actual gain, and not a piece of paper saying, oh you hit these numbers.

      @@boostdynamictuning yeah I totally agree and I know there's a lot of marking and what not to get people hyped on a product. I'm trying to do some research myself and get different options on different tunes from all different people. What I'm looking for is a stage1 tune that makes good power but keeps the daily drive not feeling obnoxious.

      @@2ZH thats how my tunes will feel. Stock when you're driving normal, but a raging bull when you step on it. I keep it safe as I know you guys need the car to get you to work without falling apart.

    IE is claiming 300whp and 370wtq stage 2 on the website .. low reading dyno here or what?

      Well I would say my dyno doesn't inflate numbers like a lot of other dyno companies do. I'm just simply showing a video of what IE actually lays down for numbers compared to my tune. This helps people see when I dyno my tune, that my numbers are right there with the big companies.

      I have a APR intercooler, Unitronic DP, drop-in air filter and Unitronic stage 2 91 octane tune and with 93 octane in the tank (91 + 2-3 oz of VP Octanium) just to avoid any KR, I made 279 whp and 297 wtq on a friend's dyno that I've used for years. I tend to agree that a lot of dynos are inflated. The shop that did the work on my car showed me a dyno graph of a stage 1 GTI from their dyno and it was 256 whp. But trap speed tells the tale. My car went 106-107 on my Dragy out here in AZ at ~1,700 ft DA. Doesn't seem super impressive for stage 2 but consider that that's only 5 mph slower than my C6 Corvette that weighs the same and makes 340 whp. So I'd say the car runs good. Im almost positive I'd see 10-15 more hp from EQT, maybe even 20, but their stage 2 tune peaks at like fucking SEVEN more psi than my Uni tune. They use less timing and more fuel too which seems safer but idk if I wanna put 29 psi thru my IS20.... There's no way it'll last at that boost level. That's gonna be making a lot of heat too and more exhaust. That's probably why adding 7 psi over the Uni tune only adds 15 hp.... It's way less efficient. But at the end of the day it does make more power and most of these owners don't think in terms of 250,000 miles. They are just enjoying the car in the moment. I bet I could rag on my Uni stage 2 car every day and still have it last 200,000 miles no issue. Lastly, I'll add that my Uni tune feels just as good at 6,000 ft as it does at 1,500 ft. I live in Phoenix but we are putting a house in northern Arizona so I go back and forth, i even went to 7,500 ft elevation and the car STILL felt nearly identical to 1,500 ft. Unitronic says their stage 2 is safe at altitude, again probably because it peaks at 21.5 psi (36.2 on the vag-com).

    So does this mean IE tunes are lying on the hp number ?

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yes and no
      If they're stating to the wheels, then yes, but also dyno can read differently. If they state to the crank... aka a fake number, then no.

    • @boostdynamictuning
      @boostdynamictuning  2 года назад

      Depends on a couple variables, but mainly around 21-25Psi spike tapering to 18-20psi.

      @@boostdynamictuning oh ok .was wondering I have mine to +7.4psi im at 2000 feet elevation and no timing pull and some advance .just wondering what some stage 2 is for a is20 .think I'm maxed on the compressor map at 25

      @@onelowvdub 25psi and 2000 elevation you're working that turbo very hard. Long term I wouldn't see the turbo lasting long. At that elevation 20-21psi would be your best bet if you want it to last long. Just my 2 cents to help your turbo last longer.
