Paddy said he'd do the scene with Matt but only in the make-up before his death. I think that was an excellent choice because it showed the toll the crown had on him, and he didn't even want it.

It's not a damn car. Ulf can't dictate where Silverwing takes him on their first flight and when you're already at Dragonstone, King's Landing is the obvious choice, especially since that dragon is familiar with the city.
These young actors they get to play these very adult roles always knock it out of the park. There's that first moment where it's like will this work, and so far, every time they've done it within minutes, it just works, and you believe it.
Fr. Both Alyn and Addam know their parentage, Corlys knows, they know that he knows and he probably knows that they know that he knows. But revealing it publicly may cause greater harm to all of them, so they keep it under secret. Besides, Corlys was a self-made man, hard-working and humble. I reckon he respects Alyn and Addam for doing the same.
That's how dragons are though. Their instincts are always to attack rather than flee even when in danger. That's why Arrax attacked Vhagar in season 1 leading to Lucerys' death.
@@Threeinarow333 I think Arrax attacked Vhagar in self-defense because Grandma Murder was chasing him and snapping at him and his rider and flame was the little dragon's only defense. Yes, but what choice does she have? No one will sit the throne if Rhaenyra can’t avoid war. Further, if she cannot avoid war, then they will lose to the Greens.
Curiously , I have a completely different view of Jace! He’s been bred to be king, his whole life, deeply hurt with imposter syndrome. Raised in tradition and passion and history of his house. In walks folks with zero Pedegree, who have no love for the history or the house, and you give them the largest nuclear bomb. To someone you don’t know who’s loyalty you probably don’t have. Much less love. Jace is the only voice of reason.
Rhaena Targaryen and Sheepstealer I'm calling it now, also this episode reveals that Hugh Hammer's mother was Princess Saera Targaryen, the daughter of the old King, which means that he's riding his grandfather's dragon.
You misunderstood! Hugh said his mother told him he was like her Brother's boys, Vicarys and Daemon. That would make him their first cousin! 👱♀👱♀👗👗👠👠❤❤
"They wouldn't keep coming back to this dude if he was going to be killed off" Ned Stark's head has entered the chat. ALSO: Those extras had lines: "AAaaarrrrgh!" and "WHAAAaaaaa!!!!"
13:34 So much joy on Jaby's face when he uttered those two small words! 37:53 Silverwing was known to be the most docile of the previously ridden dragons and if Ulf is who he thinks he is, she is his grandmother's dragon. Maybe that's why she took to him. Same with Vermithor, besides Hugh's show of strength.
Hugh isn't a direct nephew of Viserys but his cousin. His mother - likely to be Saera Targaryen, King Jahaerys' daughter - was the sister of Daemon and Viserys' father - Baelon.
Hugh and presumably ulf have stronger blood, plus they’re both pretty brave in this situation. Hugh confronts Vermithor, Ulf is brave enough to explore the pits until he ultimately has to surrender under silverwing
I read it more like Ulf was trying desperately to find the EXIT sign & stumbled across the dragon & her clutch. Then, when he basically surrendered to his fate, she took almost a motherly liking to him & chose him as her rider.
The best moment of the episode is Hugh standing up to Vermithor and holding his ground. Hugh is the most worthy dragon rider of all of them. Like Addam he was a lowborn bastard who worked hard his whole life to earn a good life. But sadly he also knows the pain of losing a child, and he wants, no NEEDS to know that all of this pain and suffering throughout his life wasn’t for nothing. And it lead him straight to the Bronze Fury!
Jace's point is valid and true, by doing that the house Targaryen loses prestige and superiority if anyone can ride a dragon, since they have the reputation of being untouchable and being the only ones capable of owning dragons and with this type of moves they lose all kinds of credibility, also they are unrecognized bastards and doing this gives them rights that they shouldn't, so there can be a big problem with the succession as any bastard will want to claim the throne and then they will want to take his position, then it would be more difficult than it already is for Jace to claim his succession if it happens.
Oscar Tully: my king (in private) Oscar Tully: the prince (in public) Daemon is not being owned by a kid.. the riverlords are watching a performance. It’s Oscar’s first meeting with his vassals he can’t go into that meeting like he’s Daemon’s play thing. He’s a man grown.
The whole sentry thing around Larys, the maester, and Aegon is probably them trying to hide how much the King has recovered. Larys knocked and entered before the maester was able to get the King back to bed. If Aemond finds out that Aegon is able to walk and talk, he'll speed up his plans to take over. So they want to set up a guard to give more advanced warning before someone enters.
Vhagar wanted the smoke but Aemond knew better. Also the master of whisper has failed. All these rumors about the Queen enrolling potential bastards to her caused to leave the city on a ship, and he knew nothing, or did he just let it happen to stick it to Aemond??? Also, did silverwings let this man off after crushing one of its eggs or not??
I think he just stepped on the podlike thing that the eggs are chiseled out of, like Daemon did last season. He hammered a steaming pile and then pried the egg out, so I didn't think Ulf broke the egg either, although I did see the egg peeking out of that pile after he pulled his leg out of it.
Larys really is a fool, he should've told Aemond immediately about Seasmoke getting a new rider instead ignored it. Had he told Aemond, Ulf and Hugh wouldn't have made it to that island, so basically they screwed themselve.
@@majestic8054 Not only that, but as OP mentioned, how did he not catch ANY wind of like 50 Targaryen bastards fleeing in the night on boats? What spies does he have?! Trash Master of Whispers.
"Aegon killed the rat catchers" 1-Rhaenys murdered hundreds of innocents at Aegon's coronation in season 1. 2- Rhaenyra blockaded the exit and left innocent women and men burning in basically an oven just to get a dragon. 3- Rhaenyra blockaded the gullet and starved innocents. But yeah Aegon is evil for murdering 10 men because one of them brutally murdered his son.
Literally all of this started with Aegon usurping Rhaenyra’s throne. The Greens don’t get to pretend to be “good” when they started the war and stole things that didn’t belong to them and killed Rhaenyra’s son.
Vermithor and Silverwing always hang out together, they sleep curled up together. They are basically married, like their first riders were. One head-canon you can have is that Silverwing could sense Vermithor took a new rider, so she wanted one too so she could join him. Or, you know, some dragons like a softer rider, others like to be told what to do more. Like people and relationships.
35:35 Numbers weren't the issue, as stated in last season's finale; the problem was that none of their dragons outside Meleys and Caraxes had battle experience and none even close to Vhagar's size. With their new dragons that’s a problem they have somewhat solved.

I think Larys is just trying to get Aegon to work to recover his strength quicker in secret, since he kinda knew Aemond told the maester to let him recover slowly so that he could rule in his stead forever basically. Then at some point when Aegon is stronger, he will be the hand.
According to the lore as I recall Hugh's mother Saera Targaryen is sister of Baelon Targaryen, Visery's and Daemon's father. She was "Free Spirited" and King Jaehaerys an the family disowned her, she was not a bastard (given this episodes theme).
@26:15 HAHAHAHAHA you got Achara there!!!! @35:36 Yeah the greens have Vhagar but Vermithor + Silverwing + Syrax could bring down Vhagar. But it's too soon to spill blood and remember the riders are new and no experience while Aemond's already experienced.
I guess, the people who look like Indians/Brown in that world? Would be the Southern Westerosies aka Dornish. Dornish are supposed to be Indian looking. Ellaria Sand was played by an Indian actress, Hugh's wife (who i believe is supposed to be of Dornish ethnicity) is being played by an Indian actress and Ser Criston Cole is being played by an actor of Indian Jewish origins.
Larys wants Aegon to recover because he can manipulate and use him far better while Aemond know's he is tricky and cannot be managed or manipulated by Larys. So it's in his best interest that Aegon recovers and takes power at least nominally.
Seasmoke: “I prefer bloodlibe.” Vermithor: “I prefer courage and someone who had balls to say me STOP EATING PEOPLE” Silverwing: “Who cares? I’m lonely and lovely i want company, now i got my donkey 🥰”
I'm pretty sure all the candidates did know or have been told that death is a big possibility even further to the extended of the queen's speech. But it was strange.. and kinda unnecessary that the guard's tried to hold the fleeting candidates back
She's also starving out King's Landing. Her actions directly lead to Hugh's daughter's death. I think its a lot easier to get angry at more direct action of hanging a bunch of people vs the indirect consequences that Rhaenyra's actions produce.
I don't get all the reactors saying "Jace, don't worry about what happens when your mother dies" and "she named you heir, that's enough" as if that isn't exactly how we ended up here (Viserys consistently and loudly proclaimed Rhaenyra his heir multiple times and never wavered but yet her claim is still being challenged after his death).
It aint about being a queen or mother to be honest its about Rhaenyra in order to get the throne must make the most devastating sacrifice to the system itself. If all dragons can be claimed by anybody than the illusion of the Targaryen power and dynasty goes away n that itself destroys the monarchy to which rhaenyra and jace have their only power from. The class system of the entire society of westeros will be gone thanks to rt actions that could future destroy the realm more than the civil war that is happening now. I get why Rhaenyra is doing what she is doing but the long game is in play n like usual Rt is not thinking about how this shakes the entirety of house targaryen. A great episode.
But seeing that those that claimed dragons all have Targaryen heritage doesn't it still propagate the illusion that the Targaryens alone can control the dragons. Only one exempt is Addam and even then the Velaryons are also from Old Valyria
@@jjfam777 but they are bastards n r common born as well. Rt kingsguard at least came from a noble family and their is a sense of class of who can obtain a dragon.
I think Ulf flew over King's Landing because he wanted to show off to his drinking buddies that he was riding a dragon and completely forgot about Vhagar and the manned scorpions in his excitement. It completely aligns with his character. I seriously doubt that it was Rhaenyra's idea as Ulf could have easily been killed as well as his dragon. She not's going to risk either just to lure Aemond and Vhagar in. She'd have a much better strategy than that.
The funny thing is - Ulf just stumbled into Silverwing. If that would've been Vermithor he'd be dead. But Silverwing is no war dragon. Silverwing was a a she dragon that loved to fly around with her previous rider Queen Alysanne and she's just cute, wholesome, calm. I think Silverwing chose Ulf for the sly and sort of escapist person he was. He did not stand tall to the dragon and also did not run around in a frenzy.

Yeah.. Vermithor only obeys (not kill🤣) king Jaehaerys family members.. Rheanyra, Daemon, and Hugh Hammer @@KTS.
That final shot 🙌
This episode 🤯 Emma D'arcy is so damn good.
Bet you’ll love him when he switches to the greens
They completely changed him for the show, in the books he was just a brute so being a "good" person wasn't really a requisite to become a dragonrider

I feel like the greens will hold his wife hostage to force him to switch
@@pillowbear143 Most likely, but how will they make him good if in the book, he declared himself king, after the death of Aemond and Daemon?
Jace's point is valid and true, by doing that the house Targaryen loses prestige and superiority if anyone can ride a dragon, since they have the reputation of being untouchable and being the only ones capable of owning dragons and with this type of moves they lose all kinds of credibility, also they are unrecognized bastards and doing this gives them rights that they shouldn't, so there can be a big problem with the succession as any bastard will want to claim the throne and then they will want to take his position, then it would be more difficult than it already is for Jace to claim his succession if it happens.
Corlus already knows lol. He has known this whole time that Addam is his bastard.

Oscar Tully is this show's version of Lyanna Mormont. Young but a whole lot more strong and fierce than expected. I hope we see more of him.
I'm pretty sure it was dragon poop. We already know what dragon eggs look like.
I think he just stepped on the podlike thing that the eggs are chiseled out of, like Daemon did last season. He hammered a steaming pile and then pried the egg out, so I didn't think Ulf broke the egg either, although I did see the egg peeking out of that pile after he pulled his leg out of it.
@@carriesmith742 yes, ther was also another egg

1-Rhaenys murdered hundreds of innocents at Aegon's coronation in season 1.
Hugh is a cousin of Viserys and Daemon, not a nephew. Its implied that his mother was princess Saera Targaryen, daughter of King Jaehaerys I Targaryen

Any dragons has any real experience agianst other dragons soo, killing sheeps doesnt count, anyone is experienced in battle against other dragons, now the only ones who have experience are Aemond and Aegon

Yea Ofc
Just for information: Silverwing (last dragon with Eggs) is very friendly dragon in nature.
Larys wants Aegon to recover because he can manipulate and use him far better while Aemond know's he is tricky and cannot be managed or manipulated by Larys. So it's in his best interest that Aegon recovers and takes power at least nominally.

I totally agree with you! Hugh's amazing! In the book, he's even more heroic than depicted here.
The funny thing is - Ulf just stumbled into Silverwing. If that would've been Vermithor he'd be dead.

I think Silverwing chose Ulf for the sly and sort of escapist person he was. He did not stand tall to the dragon and also did not run around in a frenzy. He silently stayed down and walked off to just get out alive. Even when called in for dragons, he was worried about the future instead of being outright passionate and brave. He's got his pros and cons, this'd be fun.
