We had a very short day at Ibiza when we were there at the end of June. I wasn't feeling great, so I got as far as the "tourist info" stand before I turned around and went back to the ship and let my family and friends go and find tapas somewhere. It wasn't a huge destination city for me on the trip--I'm not a big beach-goer, so hanging out on the ship and reading a book was perfect for me that day.
Thank you for putting in the restroom information. That’s the first I have heard anyone mention it and that’s important to me too. In the islands it’s hit or miss. Like missing doors, missing toilet paper men coming into the restroom like they owned the place. Ughhh. Thank you it’s important.
I've lived in Ibiza for 17 years, it's always interesting to see the island from a tourist perspective . Never leave anything in a rental car is my top tip!
I would find that city boat thing really irritating too if it happened to me. If they had told the truth many people (including me) would likely pick the boat anyway. It's not that expensive and I enjoy taking local ferries such as this. It's being lied to and having your choices taken away which leaves an unpleasant taste.
Maybe it's a language thing and the local folks just made the decision for the tourists? To me the boat is clearly superior, and it's the same cost as bus. So no harm done at the end of the day.
I would rinse the cap. Sorry you were scammed! Thanks for sharing. Will help me be more cognizant in future travels. By the way, what's the group with your music at 14 minutes? Very nice! Like you!! 😊
So funny to see this video of your Ibiza stopover. I was backpacking through Spain & Morocco ...39 yrs ago & spent a week on Ibiza! 😮😂 Salinas beach was totally different then. Clothing was optional on that beach (didn't have to walk any further).I took the local bus from the same square you caught it but there was no station. It was just a grass park where there was a bus stop. It was an island for the rich, young, beautiful bodies & some famous. Everybody baked all day on the beach to get golden tans. The many bars in town sat right next to each other opened at 8pm with loud speakers outside (open air bars)playing music full blast. All different music. This is when the dead daytime city came to life!! Everybody wore their skimpies clothing to showed off their beautiful bodies. And well, they just partied ALL NIGHT LONG! Bars shut their music off & closed up at 4 a.m.!
39 years ago? Was everyone riding around in horse drawn carriages? Was it all in black in white? Were there still dinosaurs? ;-) I really enjoyed hearing about what the island used to be like. I'm sure there are many people who think Ibiza has become way to commercialised. I really enjoyed it there and would love to go back again.
Bahahaha...I shouldn't have said "open air bars" they were actual buildings..just open air in the front! Hahaha 😆. You were right. It reads like it is so primitive. The little squares close to the waterfront had colorful streamers from a centre wire or cable spreading to the outside. Looking like what old car lots used to do. Sort of like a circus tent. 😄..reads just as primitive.
No!! Rinsing with water will in no way clean off what is on the bottom of peoples feet and shoes. I would drink what i wanted and throw the rest away. Stay well. Stay happy. Peace.
The 2nd Beach definitely looked much beter peaceful ,first one too crowded for me 😊 I would have cleaned the top very well put it back on . they were sure pushing for everyone to use that water taxie, trying to take some or most of the service away from the local Buses/ Normal taxi services 🤔but even so i feel she shouldn’t have lied at all just told the Truth. Hope you had a Fantastic cruise morgan 😊 looking forward to to hearing more about your experience😊 Have a nice evening 🥰
Captain Morgan, oh - the frustrations of poor communications. Yes, there are those people in places like this where they provide misinformation (lie😉) rather than say, I don't know. As to you dropping the cap of the water bottle, I would just rinse it off, dry it and moved on. Delightful beach and like you I would have also opted out for the beach with clothing optional.
I would have rinsed it off with water from the bottle and then put it back on. I can't drink that much water all at once and I wouldn't have wanted to waste it. As long as it didn't fall into something wet or oogy...a rinse would be good enough.
Clothing optional - that's an interesting term. So were you "clothing optional"? 😀That was a cool preview - thanks for that. Also, at least you can write the 6 euros as a business expense.
Yes, I took the option "no clothes" :-P. I love swimming in the ocean naked. It makes you feel so one with the earth, (and I'm not like a super esoteric kind of person).
I think the bus would have definitely been quicker. For me, what felt like getting scammed is that she acted like there were no other options. It would have been much better if she had just told the truth. You know, said something like, "Well, there are taxis right down there but that will be the most expensive option. There are busses and boats that both cost €6 round trip, and I prefer the boat because it's cool to cruise across the bay. You can buy your ticket right inside here." Know what I mean? I might have picked the city boat anyways! But her saying, "Oh taxis never come over here." and "I'm not sure if there is a bus." was downright misleading.
I would have slammed the water. I would only reuse that cap if I could sanitize in bleach or something! But I also would have had an extra bottle in my backpack because I drink a lot of water. I've learned to hate the sound of cicadas. It's not so bad when it's just the annual ones but when the cyclical ones join in, the noise is deafening and I have to sweep the things away as I walk down the sidewalk to my door. And they really stink when they're decomposing in large numbers. Yuck! I'm glad you weren't scammed too hard. Actually, on a hot day, the water taxi might be best anyway for the breeze.
It seems, if I understood everything right, that the city bus and the city boat were each both 6 euros RT, so, I would have been fine with the fresh air and views from the boat, even if more than a tad annoyed by the b-s the sales lady slung. As to the water bottle cap, I always have some type of disinfecting wipe in my bag, so I would have wiped it and used it. If I didn't have a wipe, I probably would've rinsed the cap and still used it.

I'd have drank the water and thrown the cap away...so clothing optional...do you have to remove everything? Are there lockers? I'm sorry she lied to you...at least it was only 6 euros...we got taken by a pedal cab guy in NYC...like 300.00 for a 20 min bike ride...
@VeryunOfficialTravelGuides unfortunately I asked how do you charge? He said by time. I neglected to ask how much per minute? We were there during marathon weekend and the crowds were crazy...You live you learn...the worst part is you feel so stupid afterwards...we did have fun...he was playing music and New York, New York came on so I was singing to the music and totally enjoying myself.
I'm sure the taxi would have cost more, but would have also been quicker. It was the fact that she acted like there were no other options that made it feel "scammy" to me. Know what I mean?

I can top that scam! When we took our cruise on RC, we went on a ship-run excursion in Nassau. It was supposed to be a 90-minute tour of the famous Nassau Fort and afterwards, return you to the ship for lunch. Well, the bus didn't return to the ship, it went on a 3-hour Nassau tour, stopping at several pop-up markets where locals were selling their goods and driving past Atlantis (without stopping), and once we got back to the ship, grabbed some lunch in the buffet and heading out again to grab a taxi and do some gambling at Atlantis. Made it back to the ship in time to shower and dress for formal night, and the ship left port after dinner.
That happened to me too when taking a RC excursion to Jamaica. Our trip went to a nice waterfall, but then for "lunch" we went to a picnic area where they kept pushing drinks at us. I don't like fruity drinks, but one of my friends on her first cruise drank quite a few "cool drink for you lady". They should have told her what was in there. We also then went to a tobacco shop(don't smoke), and a couple other shops(junky stuff). Got returned to the ship just like you did-had to hurry to clean up and dress for dinner. My poor friend became ill and has vowed to never cruise again. We'll try some train trips perhaps. don't
I rarely get off any ship that is in a warm climate. Unless I want to visit a place, for historical reasons. I loath nature. It’s what you should rise above, in my opinion. Vodka and a pool are my rewards.
Ooh, I experience the same thing, on the same beach in Ibiza! Some fat fart laid down in front of me...with his fat ass only 5 ft from my face! I picked up my towel & moved over about 30 ft & laid back down. Only to have him pick up his towel & lay once again in front of me! It was not a pleasant day at the beach THAT day. I was 26 at the time...he was at least 60 & I know want to know what was going through his head at the time. Crazy old fart!

I get the big bottles with pop top caps. Mostly because it’s easier to grab a quick mouthful at work.
Ibiza is beautiful but too crowded in July and August.Sadly you need to watch for pickpockets operating on crowded buses and thieves at Salinas beach

Hi Morgan, beautiful beach. You mentioned you got scammed. How much was the bus and / or the Taxi? What was the difference?
They should be reported because giving false info at a tourist information booth is a rort and, even if not illegal, is definitely disgusting.

Hello Morgan. I would have rinsed the cap with water as I know I wouldn't have been able to drink up the bottle in 1 seating :)
Hey Morgan, CITY BOAT. 😁. haha

Depends which way the cap lands 😉😂
Just rinse the cap off and use it .
Such a rookie mistake. I always read up about ports so I’ll have an idea how to get around.
