The child yelling "Daddy!" At the CEO made me laugh out loud. I don't think there could have been a better way to communicate to that office worker how bad she screwed up. And the fact that she just never came back? Hilarious. I hope she learned her lesson
@antoinettejohnson6251 Karens are by nature narcissistic and immune to accountability. It's vary obviously she didn't know that girl wasn't the CEO's son and OP was his partner, because if she did she'd treat them vary differently and makes me wonder. If this is how she treats OP and her nephew, how did she treat her subordinates? I'm betting their's other reddit posts about her from employees who probably got treated just as poorly as OP
A lot of those people being fired were unlawful terminations. They arrived at work on time, but did not clock on due to employer negligence. That could have been a big class action lawsuit
First Story - I’ve worked in restaurants since I was 20 and I know that it’s illegal to force employees to work extra hours without pay and if they’re already off the clock. So OP did nothing wrong except did what that idiot manager told him to do, and he deserved that bonus too.
You know that video of thar guy quiting his job from his terrible boss, and he brings a marching band with him? this most is almost half as cool as that video. Most people would keep their clothes on despite being company property, but OP went extra petty and left in his titty whitties
OP should have told her when she demanded he stay the first time and let her make a fool herself and if she tried stopping him by placing a hand, then self defense rights kick in, such as grabbing the hand and removing it forcibly from one's person.
Managers not opening the doors on time, thereby leaving employees out in the cold and being unable to clock in on time, sounds like grounds for a massive class action lawsuit to me.
Yeah, the fact that they were fired due to managers delaying their attendance, all 15 employees could and should sue that company for wrongful termination, the automated attendance program just sound like a lazy exuse to have technology deal with the working man's issues no one wants to get on the phone with HR and be denied human enteraction
@@Josh_the_jesterit's not just the wrongful termination, it's also wage theft. When your company makes you stand in front of the door, you need to be paid for that time.
@@jaycee9385I’ve worked for a local grocery store that EXPECTED you to work overtime and NOT get paid for it. No time off Nothing. You suck the manager’s/owner’s dong and like it. Oh. And if you’re going to college? Screw your college. You work for the store and July will stay there….
@@gonun69part of the story is that they're *late clocking in* because they have to wait to get in, so I don't think that would count as wage theft but I'm not exactly a job lawyer so I might be wrong
Third Story - Woooow…. What a total scumbag. Framing employees for theft, stealing from the store’s registers and cheating on his wife!? He deserves nothing but pure hell for the rest of his life.
Yeah the fact that he didn't realize that a video rent store didn't have CCTV sounds like something a modern day Karen would do, make a scene falsely accuse someone of theft, and then get exposed by CCTV, I expect that over a manager getting exposed by that, like how can you run a store over a year and not realize that the place has more surveillance than a McDonald's
@@Josh_the_jesterExactly which makes me doubt the story. It doesn't seem possible for a manager of a store not to know that the place was videoed. I mean, if it was being videoed, the tape would have to be changed every day and I doubt OP would be the one changing the tapes.
Story 1: That boss should have known that forcing employees to work off the clock is illegal and could have shut the business down for breach of worker's rights.
I wonder if his boss had done that before. If so, they should have sued the companies for the wages they weren't paid since working off the clock in a fast food restaurant is wasting your employee's time. Plus, she couldn't have fired him because he was off the clock and therefore was no longer working as her employee.
I've had managers order me to work off the clock. my response every time? "I thought slavery was illegal." edit: Wanted to add, I'm half-native. because I'm not white, the comment about slavery hits much harder.
The store with the horrible manager and the worst corporate policy needs to put cameras outside to show that the employees weren’t actually allowed in on a regular basis.
@@kranberry3318 it's also possible that there might have been cameras with view of the front door, which I feel would fulfill a similar purpose EDIT: assuming the doors have windows or are glass, and iirc it was a store so it probably does
First story, CLOCK BACK IN. Unpaid work is illegal. If the supervisor or floor manager or whatever throws a shh fit, inform them that forcing you to work unpaid is ILLEGAL.
Found that out at my first real job. I got off easy with a warning to never work off the clock again while I was their employee. The head of HR took the time to explain that while trying to stay within the 40 hrs was appreciated. Completing needed tasks while I was signed out to lunch was not, even if I did not take the full allotted time for lunch. She also made it very clear the problems that the company faced if I happened to get hurt while working "Off the Clock". Didn't make any difference if it was my idea or a managers idea. It will stop and stop now!
Resigning requires notice, even if it’s the “effective immediately” kind. What she did was a no-call/no-show which means she technically would’ve been fired for job abandonment.
Manager in story 3 shot himself in the foot! And to think, he would've gotten away with literal gambling and prostitution if he hadn't forced one of his best employees to hand in their notice.
I kinda wonder if he had already seen the cc footage of the game being stolen when he chose to pin it on OP. It's quite possible that he went back and checked it after the game went missing and didn't want to own his own f up. That'd be a hilarious twist of karma. 😂
Third story. Most major chain stores will just tend to fire an employee who is suspected of theft instead of filing charges, especially if the dollar amounts are not that great. Just as easy to let a problem employee go and not give a positive endorsement to the next job, and far cheaper. I heard of a similar situation when I worked for the my local Mart of Walls. There was an assistant manager of the Electronics department who was accused of stealing iPhones not too long after he got that job. I knew him decently, but only as my supervisor for a short time. The theft was not large enough to get the store to press charges, so off he went.
the last story: I used to work in a heavy equipment shop. Like a mechanic shop, but specifically for forklifts, backhoes, bulldozers, etc. well, I was an apprentice. The shop had 5 of apprentices, along with 1 master and 3 journeymen. one of the journeymen flatout told me to use a low powered jack (for smaller things) to lift a freaking hi-track dozer. this dozer EASILY weighed at least triple what the jack was rated for. his excuse? "The jack is rated for a third of what it can actually lift". that may or may not be so. fact is, it's rated that way for SAFETY, not just to inconvenience you. I flat out told him I refused to do that, as it's a MAJOR safety issue and OSHA violation, and when the jack breaks, it could potentially "game over" someone. So what does he do? He reports me to the master, and as the master is working to write me up, there's a sudden and loud *SNAP! POP! SCREEEEEEECH* followed closely by a sound akin to a gunshot, and finally, ending with a loud but dull *THUD*. everyone runs to check, and journeyman is on his back, his face ghostly white and panting for breath. the hi-track he had lifted was now further damaged (what was a retreading was now a complete overhaul of the tread. basically, instead of welding on new tread teeth, we now had to remove the entire tread track and replace it, for the bent plates). the jack was in pieces, with one of those pieces impaled into the wooden post a mere 2 feet from his head. I turned to the master and said "THIS is why I disobeyed a direct order from a senior. Because he ordered me to create an unsafe environment." He got written up, and I got a "verbal warning". well, someone (may or may not have been me) reported the shop to OSHA for that. they came in and found multiple violations. the shop was shut down a month later (the master himself was clean, but literally everyone else was dirty. Master was allowed to finish his current jobs due to his years of service with the union). I bounced around a few jobs, before settling into a work-from-home content creator/commission based writing career, and while I make considerably less, I couldn't be happier.
4:30 - had to go back a few times because it was just perfect... clean the stick on a solid surface... well, mission acomplished, they listened to OP later
Third story: “The guy might have kept it up until the store went under”. 😂 Well, it did go broke in 2010, and as of 2020, there was only one store left (in Oregon) and the company who owns the brand has said no new stores will be granted a license, ensuring it’s a dead brand.
When I was younger, I also worked for a place of the "creepy clown" and was forced after logging off the clock to work an extra hour each day I was there. They never gave me full uniform and after later when I quit at the end of summer vacation, I was charged for not turning in a full uniform. I know it has been several years but I refuse to ever give that establishment my business knowing how terrible they treat their workers.
You should have reported them to the labour board for wage theft and for extortion as they blackmailed you to break labour laws. Check your states statute of limitations if their crime is still prosecutable!
Story 4 sounds fishy. All those 'fired' employees had to do was talk to corporate and explain that they couldn't get in the door on time, regularly, and give the reason why. All those firings would have been canceled by anyone with common sense.
Nah, they'd say something along the lines that they should have called an ethics number or something if it was happening so frequently. They aren't going to believe anything/take their word for it.
I will admit I've worked since I was a teen, many, many years ago and have worked for some very incompetent and/or sleazy managers. And at one time worked for a woman that everyone under her knew she was totally incompetent but continued to hire her equally incompetent friends and blamed everyone else for her and their incompetence. But we worked for the government so she couldn't be fired. Finally she retired and things got a lot better.
Story 1: "You must stay longer, because we have too many customers and we can't serve them all without you." "You may as well quit, we don't need you." Yes, that makes perfect sense.
For the 3rd story, that store manager must be pretty quickwitted to get away for so long, he must have learnt the acceptable range for refund notice to play that trick, all that only for an ironic ending. Can only say karma serves him right.
@@shadiafifi54 I think he consider the risk when doing it. It is just a typical just don't get caught thing and he did get away for along time, with multiple stores, not just 1. Smart people are cheating despite of the risk, otherwise, noone will cheat (lie or any equivalent action because the risk is always there). But that's why it is a karma thing because how would he know OP is friend with the AM and AM visit the exact day.
That story where OP quit and walked out reminds me of being 21 and working for Restaurant Depot in valley view Ohio where the management and supervisors were a bunch of 30year old high-school jocks and cheerleaders constantly talking about the good old days like Al Bundy. The head cashier didn't like me as I didn't kiss every customers ass and tell them how I loved their bars inspite of never going to them then after one of the other cashiers caught feeling for me the head cashier decided I needed fired and was VERY vocal about it (it was clearly out of jealousy i didn't want to date her). Instead of firing me they moved me to shipping and receiving. Where they explained how I needed to be available to work past scheduled hours to which I explained I was used to working lots of OT as i used to work 1 full and 2 part time jobs. After a couple months of my working back there I was told I had been working too much OT and needed to exit at my clock out time (typically 2pm) i was no longer allowed to work the over time and they explained i was lucky they let me work past noon when my supervisorwent home. I agreed and followed my instructions i would have the dock completely cleaned everything put away by 2pm and be out the door. But here's the fun truck would show up until 5pm and there were no other people working the dock so literally the next day I was pulled into the office and chewed out for leaving when there's trucks coming in. I explained how they knew that was normal as I had to bring them the paper work after each truck arrived. I would gladly go back to working the 3.5 hours over time daily if they wanted me to say for these trucks. They then told me I was not allowed to get ANY overtime. I offered to come in 3 hours later so I could be there for the trucks showing up just before 5. They said no I had to be there to help with the "morning rush" that's why they had 2 people back there. I was like if I can't come in later and I can't work overtime how do you expect me to be here at 6 and out by 2 and still unload trucks showing up after 2? They told me "that's a problem you need to figure out or we will find someone to do your job." I looked at them and said I'll see what I can come up with come 2pm I have the dock cleared and cleaned as they walk back and ask me where do you think you're going? I told them home as far as I know there are no trucks due in and I'm not allowed OT. There were like and what happens when a truck shows up? I told them there was a note on the door receiving closes at 2pm please come back tomorrow. They flipped out telling me I have to be there and can't just dismiss trucks like that I was like im not allowed over time I'm not sure what you want from me. It's clear they were trying to bully me into working of the clock but I was pretending I didn't know that's what they were demanding. After they told me if I go home they would write me up. I agreed to stay and unloaded the trucks till 5 they reminded me i was not to get overtime, the next day I did the same Friday came I went into work and worked for 1 hour which put me at 40hours and informed the receiving supervisor I was going home as I was told I was not allowed any over time and I was about to be at 40 hours for the week. He flipped about how is he supposed to do the morning rush I looked at him an told him I dont know as Quinton (the manager in charge)and got stopped on my way out by management coming in for the day with big grins like were glad you figured out how to do your job which quickly disappeared as the office phone started ringing and 1 of the managers answered while Quinton discussed the last truck to arrive the day before when the other manager stormed out of the office asking me where I thought I was going I looked at him and said I hit 40 hours I'm going home because you guys said you will not pay overtime an I DO NOT work or free. The told me if I walk out the door I was fired and I was easily replaced. I was like funny you should mention how easy I am to replace like you're not easy to replace this whole company can be replaced I can literally walk out this door and have a new job before I get home. Yeah I'd only make $6 but the bullshit you're putting people through here isn't worth that extra $1.25 your paying me while you try to bully me into working for free.
1) Good for OP for getting a bonus and a better job. 2) LOL. Good job OP. 3) What a sleazy creep, I'm glad he got his comeuppance and OP got a petter position. 4) Some people are elevated far beyond their competency, it's good it ended soon for this one. 5) Wow, what an awful person. Sometimes the trash takes itself out. 6) Oy, what an AH boss.
On story 3, that was absolutely lousy auditing on the part of Blockbuster if that thieving manager got away with that for years. Just another reason that Blockbuster went under.
So high returns in the store that followed the manager. The people above him were not doing their job properly. High returns should have been investigated.
Story 1 reminds me of something that happened to both my mom and I at different restaurants at different times run by the same people. My mom's boss was ranting about something and my mom made a comment about it. The boss said "Well, if you don't like it, quit" so my mom quit on the spot.. My mom was the morning waitress, prepping for the start of the day. I believe they worked things out not too long after and my mom returned. Later, when I was in High School, I worked as a dishwasher at a different restaurant. I did lunch hour because I had a spare on third period. Sometimes, my boss would come and say "You're working tonight" one time I finally said "No.. I'm not scheduled." She said "You're working since so-and-so isn't here" I replied that I would, but next time... ASK.... I'm more likely to say yes if asked.. After that any time she needed me to work the evening, I was asked..
Story 5: That story sounds awfully familiar. I remember hearing it on this channel. 22:34 Hreaking terrible is an understatement; that'd be a freaking lawsuit!
Story 3: So basically, a dude stealing from the store lead to the manager's entire life to be turned upside down because his sleezy actions were exposed. And yeah, I myself am wondering if he knew about the cameras or not, because no way is someone this stupid
People in charge of a location get complacent believing no one else will check the cameras, as that's part of their job, so they will do things that no one should do in front of a camera thinking they will get away with it. They usually do for awhile until something comes up and another person does check the footage.
Yeah, it does explain why the manager didn't alert the Area Manager to OP's supposed theft. 🤣 Obviously he was mad because he thought OP was horning in on his side hustle of stealing from the store. LOL
@@alantran4901 I think it's more likely the manager assumed he could control the information the AM was getting. But for the fact that the AM knew OP personally, the manager could have covered by saying OP resigned. The AM probably wouldn't question it and wouldn't have found out about the fraudulent return.
The story about the manager doing shady thing under the camera (protitute, fraud with fake reimbursement & illegal gambling night), there is a reason he didn't care about it. Simply speaking, unless probable cause for concern, an employer can't look at the camera of his business to spy on his employee. The man thought he covered his track and thus not needed to care about the camera. In truth, his mistake was to forget to wipe them.
With the Blockbuster story (the manager stealing from the store to cover his gambling losses and smooching with the prostitutes), the manager may actually have been aware of the security cameras, but I suspect that he wasn't too worried about them since it seemed like there hadn't been much checking of the footage and he knew it (and if it hadn't been for the OP happening to be on good terms with the area manager AND said area manager just happening to stop by when they did, the failure of anyone to check on the security camera footage would have likely continued on for a very long time).
11:39 Story 3: I like Fluff's concern about Blockbuster going under due to the criminal store manager (😂). For you young'uns: Blockbuster - which had the opportunity to buy Netflix for $50M ($100M in today's dollars) - peaked about the time of Jynx12's story, and went bankrupt in 2010.
On the story about the incompetent manager, op your other employees should have went to the employment offices and explained ALL the stuff on why they were illegally fired, because of her incompetence.
OP #2 is a G. Not just for the badass move and one liner that finally got the brothers to start cleaning the damn stick, but for giving them months to get it together and learn before he pulled that move. Love it.
Yeah, that wasn't a "small bonus" in story one's paycheck. That was "we're going to compensate you for the clocked out time you worked so we don't get sued."
So while listening to the story I got asked ( What Blockbuster was ), so I explained to my nephew's 7 year old that they used to be a rental store chain you could get movies / games from...
I like to think in the second story that the van wasn't the only company property that they damaged because they also damaged the other two owners ego too.
Story #4 is one of the reasons why when I worked fast food I hated working opening shift, I don't like showing up for my shift early in the morning, and having to wait until someone lets me in. I like my current job, I can walk in at any point using card access, and my manager is okay with me being a little late, as long as I make it up at the end of my shift, which me taking zero breaks, quick lunches, and still sometimes leave later than I should, so no mater what I get my 40 hours in a week.
Story 1: if you don't need me, why did you ask me to stay? And since this was off the clock, I am clocking in early my next shift and I am not going to work until my scheduled time. If you give me flag for it, I'll go to your boss and tell them exactly what happened.
The sporting goods store sounds like Bass Pro Shops When I worked in distribution our attendance was kept automatically and when you hit 10 points you got fired unless it was fixed by a manager
My son had his first job at a bike shop that was just a few miles down the bike trail from our apartment. On this first day the boss up and left him at the shop by himself. He was 14 he had no idea how to work the register so he just did his best to talk to the customers and did a few minor repairs when closing time came he made sure to bring in the bikes that were on the porch and make sure everything was tidied up and left a note that he didn’t know what to do so he locked the door and got on his bike and came home. That boss was so lucky that my son was very responsible for a 14 year old ( he was a Boy Scout) . I was not happy about him being left alone like that . He worked there for a bit longer and then he came home and said that he thought he might have been fired . The boss came into the service area and was throwing tools around and yelled at him and another employee and he said to get the hell out . A few hours later he got a phone call from his mother . His parents owned the shop because some of the old employees had a rave in the shop so they had to take over ownership. This mother thanked my son for being a good employee and apologized for how he was treated because her son was an alcoholic and was going in to rehab and someone else was going to fill in for him and that they would like to keep him working there . My son worked there until he found a different job . It turns out that grown ass man boy son of the owner did not really straighten up after rehab because he was arrested for hiding on the bike trail and jumping out and assaulting the riders . I was so glad when my son got a new job.
Okay, so let me get straight, the sporting goods store committed wage theft against these people, kept them from doing their jobs, and then fire them because of it yeah, that doesn't even sound legal to be honest
Story 3 That boss framing & sacking op got his just deserts in the end, but i have to wonder if your the manager & you have cameras, why would you be that stupid, unless as time went on, his greed & hubris got him more brazen being manager thought he was invincible.
The corporate bosses are the ones that should be fired. They literally wrongfully fired 15 people who were just doing their job, hiding behind "it's an automated system". Then they threw the store manager under the bus for doing what they were instructed to do. This whole situation screams wrongful "dismissal suit x 16 staff".
Doctoring attendance/time punch records in this sort of circumstance is actually not really out of the ordinary. Where I work, if you show up ready to work, but are forced to wait because the opening manager is late, because of snow or something, we’d adjust them at that time so they weren’t missing time due to circumstances outside their control.
Last story - Op's boss is lucky it was only a car that was hit. I wonder how the manager reacted to that. Cost them money to fix the car that was hit and to have it happen in front of the customer. Not a good day for OP's boss
First story Managers and supervisors should never speak to their workers in that way. That’s what I was taught when I became a supervisor/team leader. Don’t let your manager or supervisor talk to you in that manner. Same as when you’re going into a shop don’t talk to the workers in that manner. You politely ask them could you tell me where such and such is please. Some people think, that by demanding, something they are going to get what they want. All they’re doing is, getting the persons back up, which makes him refuse to work. Happy New Year to everyone.
I was fired from my first job at 16 after only 4 days, a total of 8 hours. They only had me doing prep work in the back, and never had me making any subs. Then on the 4th day, in the middle of the rush, after not having been trained on how to build the subs, they threw me on the line. After an hour, the manager pulled me aside and said "it's just not working out, so we're letting you go." and then offered me a free sub sandwich.. I declined, because lord knows I would have told them where to shove it. Sideways. They then said I could return my uniform after washing it. I said no thanks, and then stripped off the apron and shirt in front of everyone and then walked out in my bra. In hindsight, not the greatest idea since it was the middle of winter.. But it was worth it to see the looks on their faces.
Underwear story: At an absolute minimum I would have clocked back in. If she bitched about the overtime, well I don't work for free. Blockbuster story: Wow, was that manager an idiot! Rule #1 of doing shady stuff; don't do anything to draw attention to yourself. By firing OP the way he did garnered attention that he definitely didn't want. Attendance story: Well, there's only a couple of major sporting goods stores in the country (US anyway). But I suspect the DM was being pressured from higher up as well. Office girl story: Yeah, you might want to take a few and find out exactly WHO you're dealing with before you get snippy when you're a new hire. Bushing story: Sometimes shortcuts work, sometimes they don't and sometimes they work, but not the way you want them too. Oops!
Story 5: I bet that after the CEO came in after hearing the kiddo say "Daddy" and "introduce" OP to that dumb powertripping assistant, I bet that she felt HUMILIATED for what she said to that kid and to OP, if I was in op's shoes, I would've told the CEO (I wasn't quite paying attention but I think op and CEO are siblings) and tell him EVERYTHING that assistant said since there wasn't mention of it from OP
I think considering that 15 people were fired and why if they have any evidence that they were late due to manager incompetence they could easily get something for wrongful termination.
@@Lycanthromancer1only MT is not an at-will state. At-will just means either party can decide to part ways at any time (unless they have a contract). The company can terminate for any LEGAL reason. Unlawful firings are unlawful regardless of state you reside in.
Story 1: makes me shake my head. Where I live they could fire me on the spot all they like, it's them who are out one worker and still have to pay my salary for the next month without me so much as lifting a finger since it's illegal to fire someone without a month's advance notice, and it's illegal to force work tasks that interfere with job hunting during the term (normal work hours is fine, but for example you can't schedule deliveries specifically for a time you'd have a job interview, or schedule a new mandatory meeting at the time etc. you are allowed to prioritize job interviews over the current job). Not to mention that I would absolutely punch back in for the work since it's also illegal not to pay 1.5x the wage for the work done
1st story: you should have let her fire you. that way you could possibly have collected unemployment...once the owner found out about her behavior i doubt he/she would have denied it. Blockbuster story: It got good to the manager, after years of not getting caught. Wow, how stupid to be the manager and FORGET ABOUT THE CAMERAS. I feel bad for the wife but she is truly better off without a husband who has relations with prostitutes. OMG!!! I hope she got herself checked out...smh
It’s hilarious that someone who gets paid to oversee the jobs suddenly thinks they know better than the people who know what they are doing. I would have pat the boss on the back and said “well I tried to tell you, but you didn’t want to listen.”
First story: I'd bet that the small bonus was given because some customers reported the incident to the owners. Otherwise the reason for OP quitting on the spot would have been a word vs. word kind of deal.
I walked out of work without a shirt on before. I was 18 or 19 working at a gas station and the coworker that they scheduled me with since starting was a 50 year old creeper. He would "hold the ladder for me" while I was climbing but it was a step ladder so his face was right in my butt or say inappropriate things then not acknowledge that he said anything. I told the manager 3 times I didn't want to work with him anymore that I have asked him to stop talking to me like that and doing those things but he didn't stop and told me he didn't do it. I know what I heard though and it was like 4 or 5 comments a shift, 5 days a week. The manager took his side and told me unless I had proof then I would continue to have to be alone in the store with this man for 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Nope. I came into work and saw the schedule, and that nothing has changed and I was still working with creeper every shift. I talked to the manager and she said she wouldn't change the schedule for me. I was flabbergasted but I was young so I didn't know I could report it. I walked out of the manager's office, took off my shirt (I had a bra on) and threw it at the creeper behind the counter yelling "this is what you wanted right? Well here it is, take a good hard look" then ran out of the store in just my bra and pants. I went home and balled my eyes out but they didn't know that so it's ok.
Last story... it sounds to me (in my ignorance of matters automotive) as though using the air hammer would have been a good quick solution to the problem as long as something was placed to catch the ball safely. Something like padding or a cushion stuffed into the open space, or securely propped against the opening. Perhaps that wasn't possible under the circumstances?
Story 4: So she shoos away the actually competent manager, hires friends that are incompetent, and her own incompetence costed people their jobs. Why was she hired again?
@@JohnH20111 I seem to remember hearing that there's a fair number of people in the cartoon industry in high positions with little to no prior experience who also coincidentally seem to share a lot of STDs. _Hmmmm..._ Oh yeah, then there's the whole incident that kicked off the dreaded GamerGate incident. Namely, a game dev sleeping with her married boss _and_ with a games journalist who wrote a good review about her game. So yeah, we know for a fact these things happen.
My brother worked at a buffalo themed chain as a cook. The GM was a woman that was... insane, and I don't mean that as an insult, though she deserves that too, no, I mean she legitimately needed professional help and was close to 'padded cell' territory. She was woefully incompetent and would completely freak out if someone told her no or disagreed with her in any way. People literally had to follow her around and fix everything she did when she wasn't looking. She would make new versions of corporate policies 'her way' and freak out if the actual rules were not ignored in favor of her new methods that typically didn't work as well and took longer. She was weirdly a really hard worker, but that was NOT a good thing because she did absolutely everything wrong. My brother had his last straw when she came into the kitchen yelling that he got an order wrong. He pointed out that the order was still on the screen and matched what she brought back. That meant the order was taken wrong. He made what he was told to. By how badly she flipped her lid, I suspect she took the order. She yelled for a solid 15 minutes and demanded he sign a write up that had a hilariously fictitious version of what happened that had her meeky pointing out he made a mistake and him yelling _at her_ and threatening her with physical harm. (As if they wouldn't *call the police* if that had been the case instead of giving him a write up) Well my brother's refused to sign and wrote his version on the part for why. He put in his two weeks shortly after and left. A few months later, we found out she'd been fired. The reason given was 'not following corporate policies, which just means Tuesday, so they obviously didn't want to say. My brother was offered his job back, but declined. A lot of people reading this probably wonder how someone so dumb and bad at her job, well there was a rumor that she was sleeping with the district manager and that was how she both got and kept her job. I can't speak to that as I don't know, but he *was* fired the same day she was, so make of that what you will.
I don’t remember where I heard this, it was probably here but idk. I remember a story about a son or nephew trying to learn to take over a business, and the first thing he did when he had his “training” (idk the actual term off the top of my head) was alter the machines to double the amount of product produced, and one of the engineers told him not to several times as the machines used multiple exposed high speed spinning bits, and you’d have to reach around and over them to pull product off as the machine couldn’t be shut down because of completion time’s being varied. When the person trying to take over had the machines altered anyway, the engineer told the employees not to touch the machines, and refused to operate them himself too, and the person trying to take over tried to show how easy it was, and the first product out was on the inside strip, so he had to reach over, and as he was wearing loose casual wear, his shirt got caught by the spinning bit, and pulled him in, and he broke several fingers, he was just lucky that the Machine stopped before his (long) hair got caught as it would have easily snapped his neck, he shortly pulled out saying he wasn’t cut out for a position like that
Last story reminds me of a time when I worked at Home Depot. I was a cashier working near lumber. Some guys were unloading a bunch of 2x4s with the forklift. Not sure exactly what happened, but a 2x4 when flying through the air over a bunch of people's heads. It ended up going through the entire wall and part of it was sticking outside. It shot so fast you couldn't even see it. You could just hear it. If that would have been a couple feet lower, it would have killed atleast 3 or 4 people.
Story 4: Lots of people saying these are unlawful terminations, and grounds for a class-action lawsuit. By the sound of it, this story didn't happen in the US, so the law may not support this. Personally, I've never heard of automated termination in the US. Last story: "Here, hold this to catch the bushing when it flies off." How hard would that have been? And avoided a LOT of trouble.
You seriously want someone to hold “something” to catch a bushing that had enough force to ricochet off a tire and cause a golf ball sized dent in a car door? Really?
@@kurisueru I had to go back and rewatch the story (not that I mind doing that - good stories here!) Hail does the same thing as that bushing, and it's not difficult to keep it from damaging a vehicle. I'm sure there are supplies around which can be placed in front of where the bushing would emerge, and keep it from... well, doing exactly what it did. Before you go asking for specifics, I don't know what all they had available. But one is intelligent, and the other is creative. I'm sure they could have figured it out.
Law student here: Unpaid work in the US is illegal. If they can’t clock you back in, they have to record that you worked and pay you for it. If they refuse, that’s wage theft which is a federal crime and a felony. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires it.
Story 3 getting accused of stealing. I've seen tis MANY times where the person accusing an innocent person of something, is actually doing it themselves. Keep that in mind if you're ever accused of something...it's a clue as to how you can catch that person doing something wrong
Story Three: the shoplifter should be given a bonus too. without stealing the movie and requesting "refund" they would have lost thousands more dollars.
Story 3: Was no one ever looking at the CCTV footage? Why have the cameras then? That manager ripped the store off for thousands because no one ever gave the footage even a casual look.
As a teenager minimum wage was $1.86 for wait staff and $2.35 for regular. I didn’t know that when the restaurant closed I was supposed to clock out then back in for cleaning labor. I missed out on proper pay for years.
The child yelling "Daddy!" At the CEO made me laugh out loud. I don't think there could have been a better way to communicate to that office worker how bad she screwed up. And the fact that she just never came back? Hilarious. I hope she learned her lesson
Story 5: Aside from the other issues, how did that employee think it was okay to insist that a 5-year-old wait outside alone?
OP can get a sitter.

@Josh_the_jester She was the CEO's sister not daughter and her nephew not niece, the CEO's son.
A lot of those people being fired were unlawful terminations. They arrived at work on time, but did not clock on due to employer negligence. That could have been a big class action lawsuit

#5: She DID die of embarrassment. That's why she never showed up again.
Well as Abraham lincoln once said "YOU HAVE FUQUED UP, NOW"
I get that teenagers are naïve, I sure as hell was, but how on earth did OP think it was OK to work like that without clocking back in?
Maybe they didn't have time to clock back in due to how busy it was.
@@Flash33cI agree
Depending on company, once you clock out you can’t clock back in.
Also, this happened 20 years ago, if this happened in the USA, the labor laws were not as strict.
As a teen, did you know any better about labor laws?
Last Story - The boss is extremely lucky that no one was hurt because of his stupid actions.
When I was younger, I was forced to work after for free after my hours. I was young and ignorant of my rights. It was the same type of place.

@@gonun69part of the story is that they're *late clocking in* because they have to wait to get in, so I don't think that would count as wage theft
but I'm not exactly a job lawyer so I might be wrong
We don't necessarily know which country this is but most have laws similar
Probably why they gave him a small bonus in his last check!
@@cautloa - Majority of the countries have the same laws. You cant force someone to work off the clock.
The store with the horrible manager and the worst corporate policy needs to put cameras outside to show that the employees weren’t actually allowed in on a regular basis.
Yeah I was thinking the same
They almost certainly do have cameras there, for security.
@@rcrawford42 Most places do have security cams but not every place has them _outside._
@@kranberry3318 it's also possible that there might have been cameras with view of the front door, which I feel would fulfill a similar purpose

Fourth Story - This is why you should ALWAYS be polite to people.
No doubt she resigned from the job and never showed up again
Resigning requires notice, even if it’s the “effective immediately” kind. What she did was a no-call/no-show which means she technically would’ve been fired for job abandonment.
Story 4 left me laughing out loud at how awful she was and how deeply she got burned for her arrogance!
Yup. It costs you nothing to be polite. It can cost you a fuckton to be rude.
@@lucykitsune4619 exactly. All it takes is one bad decision to ruin your life.
Story 3: No wonder why Blockbuster went out of business.
the last story: I used to work in a heavy equipment shop.
I bet it sounded like a bell when he did that.
Third story: “The guy might have kept it up until the store went under”. 😂
Well, it did go broke in 2010, and as of 2020, there was only one store left (in Oregon) and the company who owns the brand has said no new stores will be granted a license, ensuring it’s a dead brand.
Corporate and common sense rarely go together.
Nah, they'd say something along the lines that they should have called an ethics number or something if it was happening so frequently. They aren't going to believe anything/take their word for it.
First story, OP working off the clock is outright illegal. More people need to know stuff like this.
Story 1:
"You must stay longer, because we have too many customers and we can't serve them all without you."
"You may as well quit, we don't need you."
Yes, that makes perfect sense.
For the 3rd story, that store manager must be pretty quickwitted to get away for so long, he must have learnt the acceptable range for refund notice to play that trick, all that only for an ironic ending. Can only say karma serves him right.
Eh, he can't be that smart. I mean, he never even thought of the security cameras recording everything.
Story #4, collectively offer to be rehired AFTER that manager is fired, at higher pay due to your "expertise" in that exact field, no training needed.

It is a little odd that the manager did not know about the cameras, so am wondering if this story is a little off.
Yeah, it does explain why the manager didn't alert the Area Manager to OP's supposed theft. 🤣 Obviously he was mad because he thought OP was horning in on his side hustle of stealing from the store. LOL
Likely because Blackbuster was around until the late 2000s when security camera were first being installed.

The sporting goods store sounds like Bass Pro Shops
When I worked in distribution our attendance was kept automatically and when you hit 10 points you got fired unless it was fixed by a manager
22:00 "So boss, given that I clearly knew something you didn't until now, you owe me a raise."
Oof, that story 3 was iilluminatii level dumb karma!
on the firing by email item. there are a number of states that have in place laws preventing this as well as mandatory firings for such instances
Story 3: Karma will get you every time. Well at least this time.
0:33 "a very creepy clown as a mascot." IT'sa Burger! :)
Story 4 - the bigger issue is wage theft. The employees waiting to be let in need to be paid for that time.
#6 If someone does something stupid like that, my advise is:
1. Take cover
2. Take out your phone to record
22:23 i find it funny when people misconstrued the phrase "work smarter not harder" and then proceed to do something brainless
OHHH!!!! 😮😮😮 1:45 Does this ungrateful manager want to explain the Severance for a young team player's firing after her workhours??
Just want to let you know that i ❤ the snow in the meadow! Just make sure the “Fire That Flies” comes back in the spring!!!!
I admit it, Malicious Compliance stories are my very favorite, Fluff! More and More, please?
I think considering that 15 people were fired and why if they have any evidence that they were late due to manager incompetence they could easily get something for wrongful termination.
Not if it's an at-will state. They can fire you for anything or nothing at all.
There’s nothing easy about getting a lawyer and trying to reclaim lost wages from giant corporations.
@@YellaBellaReno and this is why Unions is essential.
@@Lycanthromancer1only MT is not an at-will state. At-will just means either party can decide to part ways at any time (unless they have a contract).
The company can terminate for any LEGAL reason. Unlawful firings are unlawful regardless of state you reside in.
@@YellaBellaRenoThere are many employment lawyers who work on contingency.
The manager in Story 3 must have started working at Blockbuster again. He _was_ able to take the company down!
Story 4 it sounds like the store was a Sports Authority
last one... a nice metal bucket with bungie cord to catch it from flying away... may make some noise... but no damage.
¯\(ツ)/¯
Nepotism, maybe?
because it’s not who you know, it’s who you blow , that’s why
@@JohnH20111 I seem to remember hearing that there's a fair number of people in the cartoon industry in high positions with little to no prior experience who also coincidentally seem to share a lot of STDs. _Hmmmm..._
Oh yeah, then there's the whole incident that kicked off the dreaded GamerGate incident.
It’s always an incredible day when fluff posts!
Really?
@@kurisueru I had to go back and rewatch the story (not that I mind doing that - good stories here!)
Hail does the same thing as that bushing, and it's not difficult to keep it from damaging a vehicle. I'm sure there are supplies around which can be placed in front of where the bushing would emerge, and keep it from... well, doing exactly what it did.
Before you go asking for specifics, I don't know what all they had available. But one is intelligent, and the other is creative. I'm sure they could have figured it out.
Law student here:
Unpaid work in the US is illegal.
That last mechanic story, id have started calling the manager "captain airhammer"
That little snowman is so cute! ☃️😊
Story 2: Awesome!
How badly I hate it when people “know the owner”!😅
Story Three: the shoplifter should be given a bonus too. without stealing the movie and requesting "refund" they would have lost thousands more dollars.
20:04 yeah she's not hanging around for that
Story 3: Was no one ever looking at the CCTV footage? Why have the cameras then? That manager ripped the store off for thousands because no one ever gave the footage even a casual look.
The attendance policy firings sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen
Sure like the holiday wall paper with the snowman, snow, and Santa's sleigh. 😉
As a teenager minimum wage was $1.86 for wait staff and $2.35 for regular. I didn’t know that when the restaurant closed I was supposed to clock out then back in for cleaning labor. I missed out on proper pay for years.
I am surprised that the manager in story 3 wasn't arrested.
Been watching/listening to these videos daily and JUST NOW noticed Santa's sleigh crossing the Moon! 😂
