This session was truly awesome, taped it the night it was broadcast in 81 and played it countless times. Sound quality on this video is stunning. Thanks

John Peel played some really great reggae music back in the 80's.

Groundation was one fantastic progressive reggae band! Did they ever record an album? A friend visiting Britain in the 80s brought back a cassette recording of a Peel radio show where Peele played a couple Groundnation selections and since the tape broke 'I've been looking for these cuts ever after. Glad to find them here!

Believe me. I KNOW about REGGAE music, I've been listening for four decades, but the only band named Groundation i know of is a American California based white band. Big respect to these guys though. They are solid.

These are the Original Groundation from Leicester England. Two of my cousins, one who has sadly passed were members. Formed about 1977. Absolute brilliant live. Sadly mis management got in the way.

Ellis Paul taught me my first reggaeton song on piano Guilty by Tiger produced by the late great Laurel Aitken. I was 9 years old but preferred the guitar......turned out great because I've been lucky enough to play for some absolute heroes and legends.
