Kathryn seems like someone with no clear motivations. She's trying to save people by destroying this dangerous ship, but she keeps murdering people for no reason on her path to do this. She also doesn't listen to anyone with more knowledge than her when they try to explain what's going on.

Kathryn seems like the dumbest villain ever. She wants to destroy the ship. Why? Does she thinks that will fix things? Also, she ignores the force field protecting both the ship and Bill and thinks she can just kill them? Why?
Also, a person her age wouldn't have so much power and authority. Even if she was CIA, there's simply no way. Oh and since when does the Army's Delta Force fly fighter jets?

The original experiment worked so well the first time around so what else would you do, of course try it again. The truth is Catherine is only pissed because her car disappeared and the insurance company isn’t going to believe her.

@@EllAntares Are you sure? because I watched this with enough cgi that it's blatantly a b-movie that's been rerun of very few channels and syfy is one of the major ones. cgi wasn't this adept in '84 nor did it have an obvious early '91 testing car.

I have this one as it has a fave actor of mine in it from The X Files, Nick Lea. I actually quite enjoyed this remake.

Where are the torpedo tubes? and why is a destroyer so big?
Torpedos were usually launched from deck-level, often amid-ships, with tubes on steerable mounts, allowing them to be pointed independent of the direction of the ship. As you note, the ship in the movie does seem to be too large for any WW2 era destroyer. It is also partly because of the small size and simple design of destroyers that don’t allow for below the waterline torpedo tubes and attendant watertight doors. As far as I can tell, it seems as if only WW1 era battleships, like the Texas (BB-35), were built with below the water line torpedo tubes. Thanks for the opportunity for researching this.
