After being stray from the Lord for over two decades I recommitted my life to Jesus Christ and the first place I returned to after buying a new copy of the Holy Bible was Petra. Whether it's Greg or John on the mic, Petra's lyrics always delivered full on, unfiltered Gospel!
I love the interview at the end where one of the members said Bob Hartman's lyrics are like a bible study. So true. He's definitely studied his bible as the lyrics in his songs reflect that.
The reincarnation of Petra which started with the Never Say Die album in 1981 came about through a little bible study we used to have at the Millwood Apartments in Nashville, TN, where Bob, Mark and I all lived in different aparments.
Bob is a true Man of God.

I saw Petra about 20 years ago & they rocked. I stood in line for 1½ hours to have them sign an 8x10 photo for my brother. It was worth it.

Greg X. Volz Baby! He sat at the epitome of Christian Rock for years and years. He shaped it to what it became and inspired all comers. He's still got it!
I really didn't like Christian music even though I was a Christian, because I thought it sound too lame. It wasn't because of the lyrics. It was because of the quality of the music. Christian music that seem to be out there was country based and I can't stand country music. I said all this to state, This is the first Christian song that I heard that I actually liked. Not only did I like,I really liked it and was willing to buy it for my collection. I can rarely say that about any Christian music because of its humdrum sound.

Petra what's the band that I heard that I was willing to give Christian music a chance. I never got to see the band live, though I would have paid dearly to see them, just as much as a regular Rock concert such as Pink Floyd or Led Zeppelin.
Petra is at the top of their game professionally. Angel light is the song that attracted me to Petra in the first place. Thank you Petra from an ex hippie now a Christian.
Wow, the first incarnation of Petra back together, and they can still deliver! I loved both the Greg Volz version and the John Schlitt version. Bob Hartman was the glue that bound them together over the years with his great lyrics and arrangements.
These guys have been so essential on my walk with God. If they retire, they’ve earned it

The lyrics say it all, so head of its time. Song was written in 1981/82ish. Greg and John/86 - are both great singers and writers.
Bob Hartman is one of those rare guys...he can write & arrange songs, and play the guitar like nobody's business!

There are plenty of clips of them "live"...since this was a video for sale there is "editing" done after the concert. Petra doesn't use "playbacks". The most they have ever done was sequence backing vocals to sing over....and most bands since the 80's have done that....cheers!

Left religion after Critical Thinking and education set it, but this band holds up well against any 80s-era secular band. Triumph, Loverboy and Journey couldn't beat these guys for overall live production.

Critical thinking has proven the Bible true to me: Mathematics, Archaeology, Astronomy, Creation Science, all the Sciences. Then, there's fulfilled Bible prophesies. But critical thinking aside, there's the relationship I have with Jesus Christ. His voice leading me, His Love, forgiveness and acceptance that's tangible. Trying giving a relationship with Him a try. Religion under the guise of Christianity is the most deceptive religion there is. Who needs it? Give me Jesus! Praying for you, Troy.

It was the Lord who sought after me for years, sending different people to me.
Finally I was persuaded to go to a church that was unlike anything I’d ever seen... I sensed something in that place, and of course that was the Lord. For the first time in 27yrs I felt peace. It was incredible! Right now, many years later, I’m at the end of what I can handle. My daughter called me tonight and started to sing a few lines of a Petra song that came to her mind from when she was a child. We sang it together, and she told me she was covered in goosebumps.
The song was ‘Don’t let your heart be hardened’... That was exactly what I needed to hear. God is good...all the time... God bless
Troy Evitt I left religion too, and had no idea what was ahead for me. I doubted Gods existence, and thought that if he did exist then he must be so far away and not interested us nor the issues of our lives... How very wrong I was. I don’t know how many times he saved my life even before I knew him. He is the most wonderful God and Father! We can go to Him as a child, with all of our troubles, and He hears us and comforts us. There is no end of His understanding... I’m sorry if so called Christians have harmed you, as those who are real about God would never harm you or turn you away. Neither would they be critical or judgemental.

Christian faith is not mere religion; it is mere Christianity.
Jesus didn’t call us to religion, He called us to repent & come to Him. We get to know Him through His Word that is Holy Spirit inspired. Start with reading the Gospel of John & singing songs of praise to Him. He will lead you to a church that honors Him & His Word. Look to see if they bring their Bibles & use them during the service & not just one Scripture but really study His Word & who He is. Too many people making up what they believe apart from Scripture. Man centered gospel is never Jesus. Just as the sun is center of universe, Jesus is also the Son Who is & should always be the center of all we do or believe. In Him we have life everlasting.

Cannot tell if he iss or if he is not but I do know that most of the songs they are doing are transposed to a lower key from the original version of the song. If it is not in sync it is more than likely the way it was uploaded.

This religious rock band must be semi-Pelagian and Jacob Arminian free-will theological viewpoint. This posted in 21st Century. Back in my younger days I knew nothing of 5 points of Calvinism or Arminianism.
