  • I recently move to the Los Angeles area and, as I'm getting familiar with the area, I'm trying to find all the go-to local driving roads. I figured you may be interested as well, so I'm making a series about each area I discover.

Sorry about the camera being a little "high." California does that to you. I have since addressed the issue and footage in the next video will be a much better driving POV perspective. Thanks for being patient while I try new camera setups!

If you’re still looking for a good GoPro setup for POV you can wear a baseball cap and then use a clip on mount to mount the GoPro to the bill and have it hang in front of your face. A little cumbersome but produces good results.

There are some truly epic driving roads in LA. Thanks! I'm a little south of LA and was wondering what are some more good places to drive before I actually make the effort to get up there so I can't wait to see more of this series. Also nice to see it is not too crowded during COVID.

Awesome road there Kirt, looks like a lot of fun! I'm not from Cali but been there a hand full of times and just LOVE the weather and scenery there. Angeles Crest is another good driving road with awesome views. Looking forward to seeing your next video.

Thanks brotha! I'm excited to find new areas out here as well. Angeles Crest seems like the go to, but it's fun finding something different. Hope weather is ok by you!

Living my dream!. Look forward to the rest of the series. No idea where you actually live, but can I get a drive-by of the Whiskey a Go Go on the way to the next road?..some great memories of that place.

Awesome! Plz hit Angeles Crest, Angeles Forest, Tujunga, San Gabriel, northern PCH and the El Mirage Lake Bed. On 66mi of Angeles Crest in May, I saw zero police and very little traffic. Good supermarket/deli on the desert side on way to El Mirage.

Try Route 23 ‘Decker Rd’ from Thousand Oaks to Malibu great tight road for a SWB cars.

    • @garydilbeck8882

I agree. My old stomping grounds. Thousand Oaks native but haven’t been there for years. Have they straightened the “HAIRPIN”? That corner was always the icing on the cake as you neared the coast. Get it wrong and you’re good day would quickly go south.. literally! If they’ve changed it then this won’t make much sense but, if it’s still there then you’ll know what I’m talking about. Great that you chimed in about Decker Canyon. Many memories. Stay safe and healthy.

    • @mathew936
      @mathew936 3 года назад +1

@@garydilbeck8882 nope they haven’t changed the hairpins you can still go south if you don’t know what you are doing. The road has gotten a fresh blacktop and is a hoot. Love the road so much. Cheers brothers. Stay safe!

@@mathew936 nice to know. Thanks. In some way it seems a shame for me. We drove MGB’s, TR6’s and Sprites on that road... scary to say the least. Now I own a 911 C2S and can’t experience it. Dangdol life! Them old cars on that old pavement... hmm? I’d be scared shitless now.. as I was then. Wouldn’t change a thing.

I should explain that I live across the country now. That’s why I can’t enjoy the roads out there. Arkansas has a few good ones though I must say.

Kirt, try Big TUJUNGA. Find a road called 9 mile. It’s the best canyon road in all of LA. Avoid the Crest it has a lot of mustangs. Mustangs attract cops like seals to sharks.

I always wanted to drive the same road in a common SUV that I typically drive in a sportier car, to see if I’m just another commoner and should just concede to downgrade.

Welcome to California. But before you start bad mouthing the local authorities and commenting on what you think is their agenda, consider what they need to deal with.
To the community that wants enforcement. It's the locals that have to deal with the motorsport enthusiasts. They make the calls. They complain at the council meetings. They pay the taxes.
I'm pretty damn sure the PD is not happy issuing citations. But comments like yours don't help.
I love those canyons. But if I do something stupid and get busted, I'm not going to be an asshat and bitch about cops.
Welcome to California. Try to respect what we have.

Horrible POV buddy...you're probably way too tall to mount Gopro on head....40% or more portion of your POV is Sun Visor.
