There was one country music station in NYC when I was a little kid growing up in the 70s. I remember my mom would always have it on in the kitchen in the evening. Love all these old classic country tunes. Brings back such good memories of my mom who’s 85 now. Sweet times.

FREDDY FENDER came to Anchorage Alaska in the mid 70s. A vivid treasured memory. I was just 11 years old, my first concert. Mr. FENDER wore a purple suit, he also wore nice smelling cologne. His concert was so good we saw him a second time, that night. Freddy gave me a hug, and i smelled like him and we listened to his songs on 8 track all the way home. Thank You Mr FENDER!!! :D

Met Freddy Fender at Rockwood Park Ontario Canada after his concert. I was 7 and he had gone into his trailer after the show. Everyone was crowded around the door of the trailer waiting for him to come out I being 7 had wandered away to chase after a squirrel and see where it was going I ended up behind the trailer at a tree when I looked up he was looking out the window at me he opened the window and asked me my name I told him who I was and that my mom was his biggest fan and that we had come all the way from ajax just to see him he told me to come around to the front of the trailer and had his bodyguard escort my mother myself and my youngest sister into the trailer to meet him he was an absolute gentleman gave us autographs and had his picture taken with my mother when she passed away in 1988 that picture was buried with her my memories of her happiness that day will be buried with me someday.

I was a teen when Freddie Fender was a big star, one of my dad's favorites. The suit he is wearing was very much the fashion back then. Not so much for teens but it was a common sight, big hair, tie dye, patches oh my, where was the fashion police when we needed them?! I remember my favorite coat, patchwork wool of red, green and yellow, red patent leather platforms, bell bottom jeans and a fro, YIKES! But really, if that is all we can say that was bad about the 70's then we had it pretty good, wouldnt you say?? Simpler times, oh yes!!

It's 2022 and I remember in 1974 getting ready for my Junior Prom and this was the only album I could play on the family stereo. My friends came to pick me up and I was embarrassed by it not being Zeppelin until they listened while me and my girlfriend got ready. I was so happy the guys had fell in love with Freddy. It showed me that he surpassed all ages. I even have kids and grandchildren who play his music. ❤️

Imagine Freddy trying to make it in today's music where voice and singing ability fall a far second to looks and marketability. Glad Freddy was around when singing was the #1 requirement for a singer.

Curt Ray And where is Susan Boyle? Remember William Hung from AI? They're the type of people who are given a chance simply for the reason they are ugly or as a novelty. Freddy was a legit singer who people still enjoy listening to that wasn't just a fad.

I used to play drums with Freddie Fender his real name was Baldemar Huerta back in the early 70's he used to run a bar in Monte Alto, TX. I wasn't part of his band I would help a band that used to be a back up for him. back then he used to play tejano (tex-mex) music

Wow this takes me back to my childhood in the house I grew up in. I can smell my fathers Winston’s cigarette smoke I can hear the crackling of the speakers when he hits the high notes. Literally takes me right back.
