There was one country music station in NYC when I was a little kid growing up in the 70s. I remember my mom would always have it on in the kitchen in the evening. Love all these old classic country tunes. Brings back such good memories of my mom who’s 85 now. Sweet times.

Met Freddy Fender at Rockwood Park Ontario Canada after his concert. I was 7 and he had gone into his trailer after the show. Everyone was crowded around the door of the trailer waiting for him to come out I being 7 had wandered away to chase after a squirrel and see where it was going I ended up behind the trailer at a tree when I looked up he was looking out the window at me he opened the window and asked me my name I told him who I was and that my mom was his biggest fan and that we had come all the way from ajax just to see him he told me to come around to the front of the trailer and had his bodyguard escort my mother myself and my youngest sister into the trailer to meet him he was an absolute gentleman gave us autographs and had his picture taken with my mother when she passed away in 1988 that picture was buried with her my memories of her happiness that day will be buried with me someday.

FREDDY FENDER came to Anchorage Alaska in the mid 70s. A vivid treasured memory. I was just 11 years old, my first concert. Mr. FENDER wore a purple suit, he also wore nice smelling cologne. His concert was so good we saw him a second time, that night. Freddy gave me a hug, and i smelled like him and we listened to his songs on 8 track all the way home. Thank You Mr FENDER!!! :D

I'm 53 and my parents listened to all this old school country stuff. Freddy Fender. Paycheck. David Allen Coe. Marty Robbins. Etc. I remember I had a big puppet that had a mustache like this and i called it Freddy Fender. I just remembered that as this song came on.

What absolutely fantastic memories. I was so lucky to be a teenager in
the late 1950's to mid 60's. God, what I wouldn't give to do it all
again and not change a thing.

My father bought me this album when I was in highschool. He let me keep my stereo in the living room and so many times I'd come home and he'd be listening to this or Yellow Roses. I think he missed my mom when he did that. Guess I'm missing him to be here myself but he sure did turn this rock and roller at heart onto a ton of great country music and artists.

Wow this takes me back to my childhood in the house I grew up in. I can smell my fathers Winston’s cigarette smoke I can hear the crackling of the speakers when he hits the high notes. Literally takes me right back.

I used to play drums with Freddie Fender his real name was Baldemar Huerta back in the early 70's he used to run a bar in Monte Alto, TX. I wasn't part of his band I would help a band that used to be a back up for him. back then he used to play tejano (tex-mex) music
