i just purchased a very large indoor hutch cage that has an indoor piece sort of like a hidey house.. its got plenty of room for my rabbit to move.. i have been watching your videos for several months now and covinced my mom to get a rabbit . i have been doing house work and working at the neighbors to earn exactly 200 dollars for my rabbit! the cage is 105 leaving me enough for the rabbit, food, food and water dishes, and hay and chew toys. i can not wait for her and i thank you so much for helping me pre- pare for my rabbit!!!!!!!!!
Your DIY home especially at 2:07 sparks such good ideas for my little ones! I currently have my bunnies free range about 1/4 of my room but I'd really love to add a "second floor" for their area so if they can't go far out, they can at least explore the heights :D
I got a rabbit around 3 years ago (he died since he was really old) but I had an x pen in a large square with a store bought small cage just as a home base. It worked well for him and it’s a good setup for anyone wanting a rabbit
The editing was just amazing Haley!! I love the condos that you built and your diy cage just blows everything out of the water lol 😂 I loved this video so much!! Xoxox 🧡

@@reptile_girls123y7 My rabbit passed away a few months ago, he was in a cage to get his litter habits down he was free roam in my room once his litter habits ere better.
Hailey!!! Your my favorite RUclipsr in the world. I used to watch u so much and I stopped for a while and now I’m watching you again! 💕💕💕💕💕 I Love all your editing btw.
I just built my own rabbit cage and did a video on it. Our bunny was in a smaller store bought cage, but now has a top floor and bottom floor with a ramp. It is 2 1/2 times bigger than the old cage.
My 2 rabbits are both housed in homemade (by me) outdoor hutches. They stay in the garage but come inside for playtime very often. The hutches are 2.5 ft by 4 ft (they are housed separately).
So currently my 6 year old rabbit is in a Living World rabbiy cage in the XL size and I'm hoping by the end of this year she'll be fully potty trained to transfer her into a 8 pannel xpen so she can have more space😍
Just btw, an un-potty trained rabbit can live in an xpen too, and in fact would be way easier to potty train because there is enough space for a separate bathroom/litter box area. All you have to do is sweep up poops and blot up pee with paper towel and dump both in litter box on a regular basis so rabbit gets the idea that this is his potty area. I volunteered at my local SPCA for over a year, caring for the small animals, and all of our rabbits live in Xpens. We did the same things with them, and swept them out at least once a day, and most of them got the idea pretty quickly. Hopefully this is helpful info to you, and you can expand sooner rather than later- I promise your rabbit will thank you :D
I'm personally getting a pen, ( similar to the first one ) as I am supposed to go back to public school after Christmas. I have a hound mix & boxer mix ( not gonna get into the whole thing, mistakes were made awhile ago, before I got a rabbit ). And I don't want anything to go wrong when I'm not home. This video was useful! So thank you for this very long ago video XD.
I use a store bought cage as a “home base” NEVER have I used it as a cage, my baby bunny was able to escape an xpen by walking right through (she was rescued at 3 weeks and was TINY) so a cage was the only choice and at the time it was MASSIVE compared to her because its 4 ft by 1 1/2 ft and so even now she has it as her “hide” and no one is allowed to touch her when she is in there (me included) because it is her home base. She has 24/7 access to my entire bedroom and is so happy! I think pet store cages are great as a home base!
I'm looking into getting a rabbit as I would love the responsibility, I want to do all the reaserch I can before getting one and since we are in at the moment it's a great time. This video is really helpful tyy ❤️
I use an indoor hutch. No wire floors. The floors actually pull put so you can clean. My bunny loves it! She eats down stairs and sleeps in the cubby upstairs
@MaximumCuteness 4 years ago I lived in a college apartment. My bun would come out every day and run around for hours. During the day she had her 2 level hutch. Now i live in a house and she has her own bunny proof room with that same hutch except now her doors are always open. She still chooses to spend 90% of the day on the first floor of that hutch. Hi, I have an indoor mini lop I used a litter tray but then he started peeing outside of that but in his indoor tray still, I have now turned the whole of his indoor tray into litter tray 80cm x 45cm is this too big or is bigger always better?
Does anybody know where I can get an X pen the size of the one in this video? I can't seem to find a good one ANYWHERE! I want to use it as his cage area when he's not free roaming in my room
My baby girl is free roam 🐇 she has a corner in my room, which I call her bedroom and then my room is her free area. I leave her door open but never my bedroom unless I am present. She never uses her "bedroom" but I like to keep it there for her in case of anything 😊🐇💖 thanks for sharing !
I have a two by six ft hutch outside and I have only a tiny bit of wire flooring but I will cover a lot of the wire flooring with a plastic tub for there potty which I will try potty train them when I get them. Hopefully that a good cage and I will add fleece over the wood part and add some loose pieces for some blankets for there hide-a-way... Hopefully that works right?
I am getting a rabbit in about four months, and I am going to be housing it in an x pen with fleece on the bottom. I was wondering if I would need to put anything under the fleece?
Depends on the floor under it. Like for instance if you have wood floors use a mat or something first then add the fleece on top. Basically if the bunny can slip then add something first for traction.
I live in the UK and we don’t get animals in our backyards (and if we do, it’s incredibly rare). I use an outdoor hutch, that we cover up over night (just in case of foxes, but I have never even seen one or heard of one being in our neighbourhood) that I bought when I first got my rabbit, and I was pretty uneducated on the hutch sizes. But now I don’t have a choice on housing her inside since I have a dog. Everyday I bring her inside to play in our large living room, that I bunny proof before she comes in, for about 2 hours, sometimes more. I feel awful but it’s the best I can do right now 🙁
Hi umm i have a question what do u do when a rabbit can go through the cage like theres a escape hole,we bought a xpen and they can go through the small holes, can u answer pls:)
Basically... long story, of how I’m watching this video... I came on here for ideas I have, a rabbit currently! That I adopted, his name is Winston! But, my dad is getting slightly worried, as he was listening to the radio and they said ( I’m in uk ) ‘ rabbits should only be sold in pairs ‘ I have done a lot of research before I got Winston ( he is free roam! ) but he has recked the house, so we’re moving, to a static caravan we found a cheap 1 we’re gonna renovate! So we can customise it to our taste, and hopefully, get Winston a Freind! But is my idea, for there housing ( I don’t like cages, as would you like to be cooped up in a cage..? Rabbits won’t ever! ) so here is my idea, in my room, get some c+c grids, and then make to little play pens, and put them in my room ( I might merge it but I put a barrier for now, so they can bond ) stair gate/baby gate on the living room, so they don’t have access, to wires and stuff they can chew, such as sofa’s, Wallpaper, etc.. and make a rabbit friendly garden, with fences and gates all around, toys ( u get what I mean ) also, we’re going on holiday, and we’re gonna take him to a rabbit boarding place, and see how he gets on with other rabbits to see if we should get him a freind! If so, what gender is best? Will it be ok to get a Lop rabbit, ( he is not a lop but is it still ok? ) and dose it have to be female, not male! I havent gotten a rabbit yet, but I was wondering if a dwarf rabbit would be okay in a 4 x 2 foot (first floor) and a 3x2 (second floor) cage? I am specifically wanting a VERY small rabbit and was wondering if this was okay, I also plan to let her go outside of the cage during the times I am home and not in school.
Hi so I have a almost 8 months old bunny, we have had him for about 6 months. Although he is still very scared and he always runs away when I try to come close, I have tried to be gentle and I talk with a calm voice but nothings seems to work, could someone give me some advice to get him more social and tips to get him to let me pet him
Just found your channel! Is that a waterproof mat under the cage? We have wood floors and want to put something on the floor that's not absorbent to protect it.
With my bunny i do have a hutch but it does have wire flooring. when i first got my bunny with the hutch i used a blanket so it didnt harm his feet. then when i went out i got 2 small carpets and it fits purfectly in side his hutch. just an idea if you have a wire flooring for your bunny and dont have the time or money to put wood or something to replace the wire or dont have any blankets available.
Is a 2x4ft dog crate okay to just use as a Homebase? They would only be in it to sleep and go to the litter etc, the rest of the time they are in a 10ftx8ft pen (at least 18hours a day) when I don’t have them out ? 💗
So, I’m getting 2 rabbits soon, and are in the process of making a cage. I have a smaller room, we are making it as big as possible. So far it is 3 feet by 4, it is also 6 feet up, with about 4 levels. Is that good?
I wish u would’ve put a link in the comment section exactly where you got this pen, I’m trying to buy a pen but I need one that’s big enough for 2 rabbits
Can tiny rabbits like Lionhead rabbits get through most of the gaps in regular dog pens cause I don’t want mine to escape and eat something bad or anything
Hailey I really need some help I got two girl rabbits and there not drinking their water and one of them has wet poop I don't know what to do so could you give me some advice?
Okay so, my bunnies are kept outside on my patio which is under the deck. I built all my hutches so that they are 3 feet by 2 feet on top, but I have a ramp leading down to a small run area that is 3 feet by 4 feet. But I also bring my bunnies in when it gets too cold and I let them play on the patio in a pen when I can. Is this considered bad housing for rabbits?
Rabbits should be housed indoors as outdoors have a number of dangers for them. Wild animals, bugs that carry diseases such as ticks and mosquitoes, weather such as anything under 55F or anything above 75F can be very dangerous for them. Especially the heat can lead to heat stroke and death. Rabbits are also very social creatures and enjoy being inside where people are. Rabbits live happier, healthier, and longer lives indoors. I’d move your bunnies permanently inside with you. :) you can even just bring their current cage inside with you if you’d like.
I've never had an issue with keeping them out there. They're in closed hutches, and the deck creates shade in the summer and keeps them out of the snow in winter. I check on them as often as I can and give them frozen water bottles and such in the summer and I fill the inside section of the hutch with straw for an "insulation". I've also designed the hutch so that the wind comes in the opposite direction the inside bit is facing. I'd love to give them the luxury of free range, but that's not an option right now.
Zesty Ranch exactly. Given the right care they can thrive outside and if anything nearly all hutches bigger than the 2ft x 4ft cage- for the UK this is tiny for a rabbit!
In my apartment im quite limited on space, so what would be a good size cage for a smaller breed like a holland lop, also keeping in mind they bunny would free roam the room whenever i am home, which i am quite a lot as a student
The problem I had with the wired cages is the poop kept falling through and making a HUGE mess I tried putting walls but that did not work it just went under any ideas?
we are getting two bunnies and have looked at a hutch for them with multiple levels and extensions to add, the hutch will be open during the day but most likely closed at night, is this use of a hutch ok? thanks :)
I'm remaking my bunny room in my barn and I was wondering can I have carpet at the bottom of the cages cuz we have been putting carpet in our current cages for them to sit on cuz my dads a carpenter in houses so he keeps extra carpet cuz I show my bunnies at the fair, and I'm just now kinda discovering how bad wire is eek so we are redoing our whole rabbit room and I don't really have the money for a bunch of memory foam mats and fleece and I'm getting a big x pen and have the room is gonna be fenced in and we are gonna litter train our buns and then we are turning a aluminum shelf into a 3 story cage for our other bun and we only have got carpet for a soft thing for the buns, is this okay???
I have two rabbits, they live outside currently (i know its bad for them to be outside, my parents dont want them inside though. Im slowly getting a housing area for them inside though). They have a 5×5 main housing with a smaller 1-2×3 outside wire cage with a blanket on the wires.
I’m in search for a new cage for my bunny and I really like the idea of the Xpen cage but I cannot find I anywhere can anyone help me tell me where I can purchase a Xpen cage ?
mine are going to be semi-free range. I am using an Xpen for their "main cage" but most of the time my rabbits will be allowed to wander almost anywhere except my bedroom because of the carpet. Until me and the rabbits are comfortable with each other they will be closed in when I'm sleeping since I can not monitor them when I'm asleep (obviously).
i dont know if you reply, but i really want a bunny, and i was wondering about how many c&c grids do you need for a suitable rabbit cage. i found a 23 pack and was wondering if its enough
Hey Haley! I love your videos!!! I am adopting a bunny soon and lots of the X pens are so expensive, do you have links to any X pens that you think are good and are being sold at a good price?
Right now I have a 4ft bye 4ft but I’m going to expand it to 4ft by 8ft, my plan pen is, 24in, but he has a bad back foot Bc of his mother hopping onto his back foot so he can’t hop that hight
im getting 2 baby bunnies from a petfinder in my area... they are around 2 months by what she told me. Would a x-pen me suitable for them both. i ask this because there mom weighs around 6 pounds which for me sounds like a pretty large rabbit. So would the x-pen be suitable for now and then woold i have to change it depending on the babys size?
Hello haley, So i purchased a rabbit about a month ago, unfortunately it passed away within a week. i found her a week after purchasing her just laying in the cage, alive but not moving, we rushed to the vet which she passed away just 1 minute of arriving. believe her neck or spine got dislocated. could not figure out what caused it. last week i purchased another bunny, same age, 8 weeks. this morning that bunny was the very same way, on the ground in the cage, not moving but alive. same symptoms as the first one before dying. i can’t figure out what it causing it. as if both bunnies dislocated their heads from spine. the purple cage you showed in this videos is basically what i have. i’m wondering if both bunnies were able to put their heads through the gaps and got stuck, maybe trying to pull out they dislocated their necks. Any information would help. i can’t figure it out.
My rabbits' enclosure is at least 2 m x 2 m (I don't have the exact measurements). They are two Netherland dwarfs and they get a ton of exercise outside their pen. Is it enough space for the two of them?

I love this! Can't wait to get a bunny.
Is a 2x4ft dog crate okay to just use as a Homebase? They would only be in it to sleep and go to the litter etc, the rest of the time they are in a 10ftx8ft pen (at least 18hours a day) when I don’t have them out ? 💗
Hello, Haley. I have 3 rabbits. Two are bonded and I was hoping to get an xpen but I’m not sure where to look for one?
What would be the size for a dwarf lop
So, I’m getting 2 rabbits soon, and are in the process of making a cage. I have a smaller room, we are making it as big as possible. So far it is 3 feet by 4, it is also 6 feet up, with about 4 levels. Is that good?
Would a puppy cloth play pen be appropriate for a bunny

I have a rabvit and my parents forced me to get this really small cage plz waht do I do
Okay so, my bunnies are kept outside on my patio which is under the deck.
101rabbits I personally believe rabbits can live happily outside
I would suggest free roaming
The problem I had with the wired cages is the poop kept falling through and making a HUGE mess I tried putting walls but that did not work it just went under any ideas?
we are getting two bunnies and have looked at a hutch for them with multiple levels and extensions to add, the hutch will be open during the day but most likely closed at night, is this use of a hutch ok? thanks :)
Hi! bunnies are active at night as well, that's why they need space 24/7. I recommend at least 40 squarefeet per bunny.
lord blossom perfect thankyou :) 🐰🐰
You could have made this nice and short and say "Is it safe to put carpet in my DIY rabbits cage?
I love ur vids u know what ur talking about! Thank you other youtubers should think like u!.
I'm so excited I'm free ranging my bunnies in my room
Can u do a video on a free range bc i do that but i still have a cage that she goes in when im gone but can u do a video about it
Hi! What is the link for the x pen? I am buying a bunny cage today and I like this x pen!
Chewy.com
My 6 month old bun recently learned how to jump her pen. Have to keep a blanket over it now!
mine are going to be semi-free range.
TheGreymanWalking can you send me the link for your XPen pls
i dont know if you reply, but i really want a bunny, and i was wondering about how many c&c grids do you need for a suitable rabbit cage. i found a 23 pack and was wondering if its enough
and i was hinking just a one floor cage not the eamples you showed
Hey Haley! I love your videos!!! I am adopting a bunny soon and lots of the X pens are so expensive, do you have links to any X pens that you think are good and are being sold at a good price?
Right now I have a 4ft bye 4ft but I’m going to expand it to 4ft by 8ft, my plan pen is, 24in, but he has a bad back foot Bc of his mother hopping onto his back foot so he can’t hop that hight
hello! i have a question i am getting a bunny in one week and i am looking for a cage would a dog pen be good (this bunny would be very small)
im getting 2 baby bunnies from a petfinder in my area... they are around 2 months by what she told me.
Any information would help. i can’t figure it out.
could i do 3x3 for the width and base and 3 ft for height?
Where can I get the Xpen cage?
My rabbits' enclosure is at least 2 m x 2 m (I don't have the exact measurements). They are two Netherland dwarfs and they get a ton of exercise outside their pen. Is it enough space for the two of them?
What kind of mat do you have under the cage?
I have a hutch but my rabbit only goes in it in the day and when it is not too hot or cold
What ex pen do you use for your rabbits
