Review Notes for this Arrows Viper EDF Jet:
Pros:
Looks great
Plastic nose cone for durability
Grips for easy hand tossing
Fantastic value price, check links in the description!
Powerful 50mm EDF unit
Three plastic skids on the bottom
It handles very similarly to the E-flite Viper Jet
Designed for 3S packs so you can get a lot of packs for hours of fun without breaking the bank.
Cons:
I prefer all screws to any glue, but it wasn’t bad overall.
This is how Hobbyzone describes this fun little Viper 50mm EDF PNP:
"Simple is beautiful. Without any landing gear to deal with, the Arrows RC 50mm Viper is lightweight and streamlined-perfect for those with a tight flying field or budget!
To minimize drag, increase flight time and guarantee the Viper's precision flight characteristics, Arrows RC designed a rigid single-piece wing structure and horizontal stabilizer. The lightweight airframe and esceptional aerodyncamics give the Arrows RC 50mm Viper excellent low speed handling and flight time uncharacteristic for small EDF jets of its size.
Power comes courtesy of a 50mm 11 blade fan unit, 2627-4500kV brushless motor and a high performance 30A ESA (with 3A BEC) giving unparalleled speed and sound.
How do you get pinnacle performance on a small budget? Let Arrows RC work its magic with the 50mm Viper!

Still an All Time favorite. I always have one and another in the box.
All your viewers are smarter than me, but the one improvement I made was to peel the nose cone off and ram 4 heavy duty toothpicks into the nose foam. Another weak point we’re the air ducts. I cut out little squares of an unprinted paper towel, used Thin CA, soaked the squares in CA and positioned the squares over the leading edge on underneath the ducts. (CA and paper towel material creates a concrete feel. A Brian Phillips tip on the Timber UMX 5 years ago)
The Little Viper is just stress free fun. Turned out to be the perfect starter jet.
It is a great little het for sure and I fly mine stock with no issues after dozens of flights. I am glad your mods give you peace of mind though 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Great maiden flight flight and video of the Arrows RC Viper GB! She looked and sounded great and John did his usual excellent camerawork! Thumbs up! Cheers!
I am glad you enjoyed it and thanks again for your continued support my friend. It means more to me than you will ever know my friend!
Yo Fred!
Gday Mate, Hope Your Eating this crazy life.
@@jonoedwards4195 Hey Jono! Doing well mate, sometime you eat life and sometimes life eats you... almost like a women lol! Cheers!
Always great to see you fly . This looks great & just views a year later because i have only notice this jet. Well reviewed GBL
Thank you sir! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
I did order it but cancelled to buy the Marlin at $30 more as it has flaps. I believe you may have reviewed it. I will check GBL. Enjoy that summer there.
Thanks man! And for future orders, I’s appreciate you considering clicking on my Hobbyzone links, if they work in your area anyway 😎
Hi GB, i absolutely would & have tried but they won’t deliver to Australia. So sorry mate.
Thanks brother! Even the thought makes me happy 👊🏻⚡️👊🏻
So nice! Great camera work John!
Thank you Wild Bill and I agree. John did EVEN better on the second flight footage too!
Thank you sir!
Oi, Wild Bill!
Hope Your ripping up the air Mate.
@@JohnVHRC Shredding Mate,
OohH-YeeeeeeaAH!!!
Amazing hand launch, such a nice take off (aka not-twitching-and-scary) 😊 nice camera work too
Thank you! The jet made it really easy 😎
GBLynden's RC what battery did you use for this maiden?
Great flight GB! That one blade of grass got ya.
Thank you Hal! I had more elevator, but didn't want to glide past myself into my car lol The landing on the second flight was textbook though! :D
Nice launch, flight and landing! 👍👍😎
Thank you very much for being so kind about that landing. The next landing was much better 😎
Nice flying GB.👍 This is one I might consider.
Thank you my friend! If you do get end up getting it, please click on my link in the description 😎
Fly pretty sweet. And for a little set sounds nice. 👍👍😎👍👍. Hi John
Thank you Roy and I agree. The sound from that little fan is solid! 👊🏻
Yo RECKEM, Hope Your Shredding the air Mate!
Hand launch was very good, I keep struggling to get it to altitude fast enough. Maybe it's because it's nearly windless the past days. Or maybe it's because I hold it by the grip at the bottom, instead of the rear fuselage. It flies amazing, so smooth, and the fan unit is very quiet.
Thanks! I have found the the grips like that do no work really well with how I throw, so going farther back seems to work well for me. Just be sure that you do not roll it off your fingertips like a football! I love this jet too btw, check out my other flights with it and I am just as excited to fly it as when I do my maidens. You will also see what happens when you throw it too much like a football lol
Cool. Looks good in the air and that hand launch was pretty damn good. Flies on rails. Predictable from what i can see. Hoping for more videos of it haha 🚀🛩
I appreciate it! There is a wild second flight video coming up right after my livestream this week too.
I fly this is a 1800mas 4s lipo. right in the center on the battery tray. it flies like a rocketship and doesn't overheat the lipo. Only mod was turning down the high point of my throttle curve (on the spektrum transmitter) to 90%. This limits the throttle and keeps it from over-revving. It shoot strait up with no vertical limit now.
Thank you for the tips! I may need to try that at some point.
I've just got bought one as my first edf, any tips on my first flight , my first plane without safe too so I'm very nervous
is this gonna take 4s batteries? I thought it can only take 3s, thanks
Nice looking and flying jet. Small and agile and very tight radius turns ;-) Sweet! It looked like no drama on hand launch. How much throttle were you giving it on launch? See you in the Air!
I gave it just a hair below 100% throttle. My throttle stick always falls back down, but my goal was 100% like it should be for hand launching an EDF Jet.
@@GBLynden , thank for the info. So you're saying you should always hand launch an EDF Jet at full throttle? I'm curious as I've never flown and EDF. Thanks.
Oh yeah! EDFs require airspeed or you have no authority on your throws. Props will blow wind over those control surfaces so it isn’t quite as critical with them. Props also have more torque going on, so it is normally a bad idea to go full throttle on those because it could make them torque roll over.
@@GroundControlRC Amazon have it for US$100 atm.
Beauty GCRC, You are one of the best RC Channels,, BAAAMM!!
@@jonoedwards4195 Thank you much Jono!
That's a very good price.
Hum...I'll have to search a little better next time ;-)
Great flying brother, thank you.
Thank you Bro! 👊🏻
Nice! Looks stable
Thank you and yes it is! I am not even using a gyro of any sort for stabilization either 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Sounds great also. what transmitter are you using
It really does and so does the BAe Hawk that will be dropping tomorrow AM featuring its maiden flight review. I use a DX6, but since that is no longer available, I recommend the NX8. I have links in the BAe Hawk unboxing video that should be helpful 😎
AWSOME flight !! 👍👍👍
Thank you Lee! It sure is fun 👊🏻
Nice plane. Question, why don't you go full throttle on the stick, then flick your throttle cut (switch H). This way you don't have to eat your radio. You can launch it as your index is flicking switch H and your thumb is already on the right stick.
I had never thought about that because I just use my chin to work up the throttle. I also like to do things manually in RC unless I absolutely have to do that.
Great watching this!
Thank you very much! I am glad you enjoyed it 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Brave to Maiden at Bender, GB; My Red one from GenHobby failed twice from that weird signal loss thing - it was the old DSM2 SPEKTRUM.
Yep, is was the only place with grass, so I went for it. The high end RX I am using helps give me confidence flying there too. I hope you are having a great day Bill!
Whoa, you actually got something from GenHobby?
I don't trust them!
Awesome GB!
Thank you Jon! I like it even more than I had expected lol
Amazon have right now for around $100US!
I scored Mine for $166 Au.
Beauty Noonz, rip up the air Mate.
Great video! What camera do you use to film it?
Thank you! It is a Sony that isn’t available anymore.
@@GBLynden It would still be interesting to know even if you cant get it anymore...
I can’t remember the model name, but I will have a look tonight lol
Nice GB, fun little jet love mine.
Thank you Wayne! Wait until you see the botched launch on the second flight 😳
GBLynden's RC 😮 Hope there was no damage.
You will have to wait and see 😜
Nice video! Mine arrived yesterday, now I just need it to stop raining here in Germany! During assembly I noticed a pretty good amount of play in the servos themselves, is that the same on yours or is it only without power?
Thanks man! I didn’t notice anything being loose or sloppy. Where exactly are you seeing that?
@@GBLynden Without power, all the servos have play. Results in control surfaces moving about 1-2 mm. I checked and it has to be the whole servo gear as the horn is firmly mounted. As all three servos do that I guess its normal. I mean for 120 bucks that is acceptable but still
Where do you have the rubber piece on the control horns? I have virtually no slop with them all of the way onto the clevis.
@@GBLynden Thanks for your reply, I have them there too but the play is in the servos themselves. Maybe it will stop when they are powered on, I have to see when my receiver is here :)
My fingers are crossed for you. This is a really fun little jet 😎
Hi, would you still recommend the flown 1500mha 3S or a 1300mha? Thank you!
Hi there! I recommend the 1550 Tattu pack I used in this video. The link is in the video’s description 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Looks like fun
It really is! The second landing was pretty much a greaser too :D
Hi GB, I have enjoyed a V900 until I had an irreparable accident. I have never flown an EDF. I know this Viper is much slower, will I get bored? or have other feelings!
I don't know you well enough to say if you will be bored or not, but this is a great option for a first EDF Jet. They have different tendencies than prop planes and this is one of the most fun EDF Jets I have ever flown. It won't be balls to the wall excitement, but it is a VERY good flying jet I take with me every chance I get. Here is a link to Arrows RC Viper EDF Jet: bit.ly/2X5JFi2 and be sure to save $10 with promo code: viper10 if you decide to get it.
The links in this description are affiliate links. They give me a small commission on sales which helps support the channel and keep it independent.
It's my first edf too, did you get one? If so any advice on the first flight
Nice man, just ordered mine I like they added a plastic nose cone as that’s always the first thing I break with foam models😂would a 2200 pack be suitable
Hey man! Did you by chance click on my link when you ordered? To answer your question, you likely can use lighter 2200 packs, but it will be on the nose heavy side if they have much weight and/or are very long. I use 155O’s in mine all of the way forward and it is perfect!
GBLynden's RC I’m in England mate so it doesn’t make sense for me to buy it from overseas
Ahhhh we only have one dealer here in the US, so that is why I asked 😎
GBLynden's RC luckily for me there’s a few model stores here in England that stock arrows planes got mine for £116
That is great and I will you a successful maiden!
Does this weigh under 250g for park flying? I'd love to get one
I cannot quickly find info on its weight, but it seems to be above that 250g limit based on my guesses. All you need to do it take that Trust test and get an FAA number to be set. Go for it bro!
250g is only battery itself
Awesome jet i got to check this out it’s fast to not bad
Thank you! I love the ease of flying and speed considering it is 3S.
Hey guys, honest question: is this plane appropriate as an entry level plane? I am so much interested in the EDF category. I bought the F-27 UMX (the smaller one) and could fairly fly it with Safe until I lost it behind high trees :-(, now I got another one but somehow I think a plane with a bit more weight and wing area could be more useful for me. I am a bit scared to fly a plane without Safe and on the other hand I don't like the loose tail with Safe as Safe is always correcting something with those little planes. And I know that all the guys making these videos are very very experienced and make it look easy so I am not sure what to do for myself...
This is a great beginner EDF Jet, but not beginner RC Plane. Buy an UMX Turbo Timber to get some flying experience, then try that F-27 again and then try this if the F-27 works. EDF’s like this are much harder to fly than prop planes.
@@GBLynden Thank you so much for your fast and honest reply. Really appreciate it! I will do exactly what you said, already had an eye on the Timber or Cub+. My first goal is to get it flying without Safe.... and I made it a fast decision and already ordered the BNF Version.
Did you click the links in the video description before the purchase to help out the channel? 😜
@@GBLynden There is no link for the Timber Turbo and I am living in Germany, so I need a national retailer (customs and delivery time) :-(
No problem my friend! I hope you enjoyed the help and keep watching for more info 😎
In love 😍
It is a great plane!
What radio receiver did you use in the plane?
Hi Brent! I used the AR410 like the one I have linked in the description of the video 👊🏻💥👊🏻
@@GBLynden thanks for responding
You are welcome Brent 😎
Rather have it nose heavy rather than the option. lol. Nice flying, nice jet
I have to agree with you there Jeff and thank you! 👊🏻
Very nice LIKE 👍 saludos
Thank you very much my friend 👊🏻
Only 74 comments , I've followed the channel for a while, asked a question for you and your subs 4 days ago. NOTHING BACK, no reason to like or sub your videos .
I am sorry that I missed your question. I hope you realize that I have nearly 700 videos that people comment on, so I do my best to comment on all of them I can. Also, about 4 days ago, I uploaded 4 videos at the same time for the launch of the brand new Durafly Micro Tundra, which still have comments piling up.
