If Sean Connery had been James Bond in this movie, there would be no question about how great it would be
Orson Welles fits amazingly well as Le Chiffre, I would kill to visit an alternate universe where him and Connery are in an early adaption of Casino Royale

Personally I think Peter Lorre in the original 1954 is the most accurate version to the original Fleming book version.
@Jay Hmmm not exactly I would say, Mads is younger and more suave compared to Lorre's distinctive appearance and persona.
Ian Fleming actually described Bond as resembling Hoagy Carmichael (the songwriter who also did some acting, usually behind the piano).
Very nearly had Welles as Auric Goldfinger. He wanted too much money, though.
A 1960's version of Casino Royale made by Eon with Connery as Bond would have been awesome.

Cleverly assembled flick. Fun to watch. Definitely for fans of Sean Connery's version of James Bond. Almost like unearthing a recently discovered, lost Connery gem.

I find it slightly bizarre that out of the three blokes who've played Le Chiffre, the least famous one is the one from the actual Casino Royale film. Don't get me wrong, I love Mads Mikkelsen, but the fact the previous two LeChiffres were Peter Lorre and Orson Welles is just insane.
I like how it stays true to the original game of Baccarat, as it was in the novel.

Interesting take on making the 1967 version of Casino Royale a serious film with Connery. I happen to be a big fan of the Parody version and enjoy it for the very silly film it is.

This was awesome, great work, great video. I did but hardly notice the clips sometimes being decades apart, this was simply a good story but with Sean Connery instead. Very entertaining.
Cleverly compiled jewel. I love it being a big fan of Connery and the David Niven's version of the Casino Royale.
Orson was great in this small role it would have been smart to put Welles in Diamonds Are Forever have him play the real Blofeld or a different one that would have been fun to see.

Barry Nelson was the First James Bond in the 1954 Casino Royal made for TV movie.

There was an episode of Basil Rathbones Sherlock Holmes, (I can't remember which one unfortunately), but it pretty much was definitely copied by Flemming. I remember commenting on it on youtube some time back.

my first 007 Jams Bond movie in 1962 watch in Dhaka in 1966 in Gulistan Naz Hall with Dr. NO. by Seen Cannery. But till i love 007 jams bond movie.
Buzz Dixon sent me here! Remarkable job editing the scene together. Only change I'd make is some incidental/background sound effects during the silent sections, just to keep it from being so jarring.

They coulnd't have filmed the key elements of the novel, namely the torture scene as it is, and the "bitch is dead" final line, which is absolutely a character defining moment. Also, the continuity would have been ruined, as Casino Royale is Bond's first assignment. The 2006 version is spot on. That said, the card game would have looked pretty much like this, probably, and Orson Welles was actually perfect casting for Le Chiffre, spoof or serious version. Also a Goldfinger-like car chase with the Aston Martin would have probably followed the kidnapping; they would have no doubt enhanced what happens in the novel and the 2006 film with gadgets . Good editing job.

The game was against Peter Sellers in the spoof. He and Orsen were fighting and he refused to be on set at the same time. So you never see the two of them together in one shot.
Interesting edit....a Casino Royale from them would probably mirror the book. Which has a lot of differences from the actual modern movie. It's only marginally the same story.

Well, Sean Connery had been playing cards from any casino places like before in Dr. No. I even know about him.
What a wasted opportunity it is that the Bondverse films were never made from book order.
Had that been a reality: if Casino Royale was Sean Connery’s 1st film as James Bond 007 and if it had Orson Welles as Le Chiffre, the most-talked about moment from that particular film would’ve been the suspense, tension and psychological anxiety raising of the baccarat tournament between Bond and Le Chiffre.
Would’ve given anything to see that happen.

You should have done it using Connery and the original Casino Royale TV version with Barry Nelson playing Bond and left it in black & white.
Connery was overated
With one in b/w and CASINO in colour, that would defeat the deft editing process. One wants to take in as much as possible before they have their AHA! moment, and realize what they have been viewing!
