Thank you. Yes, my dream of hitting the Golden Anniversary was shattered. I divorced after 48 years of marriage. Although it was a great relief in many ways, it did hurt a lot.
I heard a good analogy of sidewalk friend, some are permitted on the front porch and only a very select few may come in our home. Guarding your heart.❤️💜🙏🙏😊👍
Lynn my 50th was also shattered after 41 years of marriage. I prided myself that we were different and that we would make it. Until he walked out. He’s going thru typical midlife. What’s even harder he won’t let me go. We still see each other periodically text and talk at least 3 times a week or more. It’s all about him. He’s a workaholic and has been married to his job for years. He has admitted after over a year now he’ll have a hole in his heart on what he did to me but admits he does not see reconciliation in our future. I pray for him daily and have chosen the compassion route with him. I still love him. I promised under the eyes of God til death us do part and I will be keeping that promise.
Dr. Henry Cloud's book TRUST is excellent! The 5 ingredients that foster trust: Accurate comprehension Ability Motives Integrity/character Track record Trust is not a single switch that's either on or off. It's incremental, and it differs for certain areas; e.g. while we would trust our closest friend with secrets/vulnerabilities, it does not mean we would trust that same best friend to do surgery if we needed a knee replacement. And just b/c someone's astute intuitive judgment displays accurate comprehension, does not mean that same person has pure motives in how they use that information. Dr. Cloud's definition of trust was amazing: carelessness. Trust is a sense that you do not have to have your guard up. You can be at ease.

Thanks ladies, appreciate this reminder. Very helpful. I'm learning to say No and be okay with it. I'm learning to not fear man. God is gracious 🙏
