I really appreciate how this song represents finding self love through inventing a new version of yourself. I feel like a lot of self love songs talk about loving parts of yourself that were already there (and obviously that’s important and a lot of people relate to that message), but sometimes you need to break away from things that used to be “you” and create a newer, stronger version of yourself in order to feel loved and secure.

This song was released during the height of a very difficult time in my life. I was in an abusive relationship for 3 years and it felt like it was never ending. I felt so helpless and desperate, and I was scared those feelings would never go away. I stayed in our bedroom one day after work and cried, and cried. My ex walked in to grab something and called me stupid for crying before walking back out. Any time he broke me down, music was one of the only things that made me feel better, and this song especially brought me hope so I played it often. Today I'm able to look back and say that I didn't let my ex decide my fate. I stood up against it, and that's why "new" and Yves will always be one of my favorite.

I just realized that Yves could be related to the Ugly Duckling somehow. I mean, look, her representative animal is a swan. Her solo debut title track song is "new". She even has lyrics in the song like "flapping of the burnt wings" and "my miserable appearances". She insults herself, but then, she realizes that she was beautiful. Similar to the fable.
The burnt wings thing sounds more like Icarus, like she's facing the consequences of wanting more, of wanting new things in her life and all that struggle that comes with the self-discovering journey. But it TOTALLY gives the vibe of the Ugly Duckling, because the lyrics describe an internal struggle for self acceptance and all that stuff
Maybe it also correlates to how in Yves storyline, that she represents rebellion and the choice to act of her own freewill. Sort of like how Icarus chose to fly higher and closer to the sun, which resulted in him losing his wings, sort of similar to how Yves chose to leave Eden for good.

That part during the climax (2:27) where she bites the apple, grabs Vivi's hand, and then nails the dance is everything I've ever wanted. This is so, so gay and so wonderful. The apple is representing "sin" or differing from the norms of what society expects, and to have that shown right before she grabs Vivi's hand and then they have a romantic skating scene is so amazing. Yves is teaching us that it's okay to be who you are, even if it goes against what's considered normal or acceptable by most.
i don’t see orbits talk enough about this mv and it’s a little sad. this is definitely one of my favorite music videos from loona, and my favorite solo overall. it’s beautiful, sonically and visually. perfectly introduces yves not just as a character in the loonaverse but as an idol. the lore in it is fun to decipher too and it sets up yyxy’s storyline as well as combining from past units. let’s try and reach 10M, we’re so close!
So basically: Yves' color is a fusion between Heejin and Olivia's colors; pink and black respectively. So she's a creator like Heejin and wants chaos like Olivia. Why do I say she wants chaos? Look at the scene on the roof with animal plushes. Those animals represent the LOONAVERSE. Yves also wants the rest members to sin and go against Heejin: she started with Chuu on "Heart Attack" (Yves noticed her after she ate her strawberry) and Go Won on "One&Only", after she ate her pineapple). She also influenced Choerry to become the frog on "Kiss Later", so YeoJin would sin, but the fact she didn't kiss the frog means she didn't sin. Why? Because she dropped an apple from a roof and it fell to Choerry's hands. She also has ODD EYE CIRCLE as acquaintances. They probably worked together, so she could travel through dimensions and meet Vivi on LOONA1/3's reality because of JinSoul's and Choerry's powers. And yes, Yves killed Vivi. We need to place two MV's: "new" and "Everyday I Love You". In "new", Vivi is blonde, meaning that she's human. Also, she went to the rental skates with Yves who's wearing Eden's uniform. In "Everyday I Love You", Vivi's hair is pink, meaning she's no longer human and she's now an android. Everything's bright, happy and lot of charisma surrounds Vivi and her friends; YeoJin, the one who's basically lost in the forest, is also there. "Everyday I Love You" is a dream, while "new" is what actually happened. Yves and Vivi were the only ones who were at the skate rentals, so yes. Yves is dangerous, but perfect. LOONA's lore is big.

But I don't think Kim Lip is -that- loyal to HeeJin and I'll say why: the whole OEC gang is working with Yves because of their colours being present on different aspects of the MV: the claw machine and the roller skate alley. And I think Yves killed Vivi because of these timestamps: from 2:56 to 3:01. The apples represent LOONA members and considering that three of them are floating reminds of three specific members who allowed Yves to travel from Eden to Earth. When a thing is painted red, means covered in blood. And we see not only the apple but the bowling alley too. And Vivi's face becomes enlightened, meaning that she was surprised that Yves actually killed her: because she trusted her. I agree partially with you about HeeJin giving her part of her color to Vivi: HeeJin actually saved Vivi turning her into an android, but in the process, she lost her memories and that's why she needs the cassettes. Finally, and it's something I forgot to point out, the body laying on the floor of the alley. People theorize it's either Yves' pure side, who's basically dead because she sinned (when Yves sin, she's wearing everything but white) or Vivi's body, who's wearing white, a color related to purity and, mostly, the afterlife. OEC's colors, however, are no longer present in the alley, meaning that they had no intention to kill Vivi... because JinSoul was rescued by her. So this could also mean that at least Kim Lip and JinSoul were tricked by Yves. Choerry wasn't tricked because of the Cinema Theory: Up&Line clip showed that after "Starlight MV", she met up with Yves.
Wow. The music has a slightly dark/brooding melodic quality that I would otherwise have to listen to Depeche Mode to hear. Songs like this (and "Loonatic", "Chaotic", "Sonatine", "Let Me In", "Vivid", "SCL", etc.) show me that Loona won't be confined by what pop music is "supposed" to be, but will continue trying to open our eyes to what it could be...
This is exactly why I love them so much! A lot of the pop and kpop songs now a days have fallen into a repetitive rut of deep and tropical house influences and LOONA continues to broaden the spectrum with their different sounds and experimentations while keeping it all at a highly maintained and well produced quality. BBC really do step up to the challenge every time and somehow continue to endlessly knock it out of the park.

I just realized that Yves could be related to the Ugly Duckling somehow. I mean, look, her representative animal is a swan. Her solo debut title track song is "new". She even has lyrics in the song like "flapping of the burnt wings" and "my miserable appearances". She insults herself, but then, she realizes that she was beautiful. Similar to the fable.
The burnt wings thing sounds more like Icarus, like she's facing the consequences of wanting more, of wanting new things in her life and all that struggle that comes with the self-discovering journey. But it TOTALLY gives the vibe of the Ugly Duckling, because the lyrics describe an internal struggle for self acceptance and all that stuff

That part during the climax (2:27) where she bites the apple, grabs Vivi's hand, and then nails the dance is everything I've ever wanted. This is so, so gay and so wonderful. The apple is representing "sin" or differing from the norms of what society expects, and to have that shown right before she grabs Vivi's hand and then they have a romantic skating scene is so amazing. Yves is teaching us that it's okay to be who you are, even if it goes against what's considered normal or acceptable by most.

i don’t see orbits talk enough about this mv and it’s a little sad. this is definitely one of my favorite music videos from loona, and my favorite solo overall. it’s beautiful, sonically and visually. perfectly introduces yves not just as a character in the loonaverse but as an idol. the lore in it is fun to decipher too and it sets up yyxy’s storyline as well as combining from past units. let’s try and reach 10M, we’re so close!
So basically:
Yves' color is a fusion between Heejin and Olivia's colors; pink and black respectively. So she's a creator like Heejin and wants chaos like Olivia. Why do I say she wants chaos? Look at the scene on the roof with animal plushes. Those animals represent the LOONAVERSE.
Yves also wants the rest members to sin and go against Heejin: she started with Chuu on "Heart Attack" (Yves noticed her after she ate her strawberry) and Go Won on "One&Only", after she ate her pineapple). She also influenced Choerry to become the frog on "Kiss Later", so YeoJin would sin, but the fact she didn't kiss the frog means she didn't sin. Why? Because she dropped an apple from a roof and it fell to Choerry's hands. She also has ODD EYE CIRCLE as acquaintances. They probably worked together, so she could travel through dimensions and meet Vivi on LOONA1/3's reality because of JinSoul's and Choerry's powers.
And yes, Yves killed Vivi. We need to place two MV's: "new" and "Everyday I Love You". In "new", Vivi is blonde, meaning that she's human. Also, she went to the rental skates with Yves who's wearing Eden's uniform. In "Everyday I Love You", Vivi's hair is pink, meaning she's no longer human and she's now an android. Everything's bright, happy and lot of charisma surrounds Vivi and her friends; YeoJin, the one who's basically lost in the forest, is also there.
"Everyday I Love You" is a dream, while "new" is what actually happened. Yves and Vivi were the only ones who were at the skate rentals, so yes.
Yves is dangerous, but perfect.

But I don't think Kim Lip is -that- loyal to HeeJin and I'll say why: the whole OEC gang is working with Yves because of their colours being present on different aspects of the MV: the claw machine and the roller skate alley.
And I think Yves killed Vivi because of these timestamps: from 2:56 to 3:01. The apples represent LOONA members and considering that three of them are floating reminds of three specific members who allowed Yves to travel from Eden to Earth. When a thing is painted red, means covered in blood. And we see not only the apple but the bowling alley too. And Vivi's face becomes enlightened, meaning that she was surprised that Yves actually killed her: because she trusted her.
I agree partially with you about HeeJin giving her part of her color to Vivi: HeeJin actually saved Vivi turning her into an android, but in the process, she lost her memories and that's why she needs the cassettes.
Finally, and it's something I forgot to point out, the body laying on the floor of the alley. People theorize it's either Yves' pure side, who's basically dead because she sinned (when Yves sin, she's wearing everything but white) or Vivi's body, who's wearing white, a color related to purity and, mostly, the afterlife. OEC's colors, however, are no longer present in the alley, meaning that they had no intention to kill Vivi... because JinSoul was rescued by her. So this could also mean that at least Kim Lip and JinSoul were tricked by Yves. Choerry wasn't tricked because of the Cinema Theory: Up&Line clip showed that after "Starlight MV", she met up with Yves.

I believe that 3/3 will be a *Rebel/Defiance* themed. Seeing what Yves have gave us a glimpse of it. Everything about her shown in this mv seems to give the vibe of a rebel. I mean this girl is shown as an apple instead of an animal like everybody else kinda gives the clue of her "being different".
The daytime Yves wearing white as in purity and innocence and shows her in a dance practice room dancing then at night wearing black, hanging out with the boys could mean that she has two different lives shes living and is trying to find her true self between the two, even literally tells us through the lyrics. Which she eventually does at the end and decides that her dark/night self is who she truly is and continues to eat more and more apples which could mean more "sin" or rebelling to be herself and showing her *new face*.
2.) Some fellow loonatics have said that she is seen as *mischievous* and somewhat evil. That could correlate to the crane game part. As well as causing an impact of destruction or disturbance as she is showing hitting the toy animals (her members) with a golf club. 3.) And what kind of moomoo/loonatic am I to ignore that gay scene between Vivi and Yves?????
