This song really captures the older generation nostalgia, reminding a lot of viewers about their moments of youth. In the intro we see them riding bikes, playing cats cradle, and filming with older cameras instead of using newer phones. I think that makes this song so easy to watch and listen to. It's a really different but interesting change from hype boy and attention.

guys if u dont understand, basically, the girl with the camera is imagining the group of girls. She is lonely, and has no friends, so she thinks she does, and those friends comfort her. But in reality, she's taking videos of people who aren't there, which I think is sad. im crying rn. They really emphasized the part about friendships

The meaning is so deep, you see them writing on her the cast on her hand but then later you see that the cast is empty showing that she's been imagining them and she's just alone. You also see the places she recorded them at empty in the end.
This song was haunting and reminded me of being a teenager, when those big feelings come and you're not prepared for it. The vocals are gorgeous, the video is INCREDIBLE -- the video director did an amazing job of capturing that feeling of memories floating through our minds, in clips, a highlight reel, and the home-movie feeling of old vhs recordings that you pulled out of a box at Christmas time to watch again years later.

This song has a certain eerie thing to it. I listened to this and didnt like it. Then somehow accidentally listened again, and felt it was ok. But then 3 days later after 5 more times,, I cant get this song outtakes my head. Its certainly addictive the more times you listen to it. This has been reported by many others too. The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, has relationship problems. etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom and reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to reap the benefits and enjoyment of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into.

First and foremost, I just want to say thank you to new jeans for coming into the K-pop industry. I have never seen MV like this before in my life it’s different to see SIDE A and SIDE B. I am rewatching this over and over again because i cannot get over it. New Jeans ideas are out of this world and i am waiting for each and every comeback that they will make. i think this talks about loneliness, the feeling of not having anyone and the feeling like anyone would ever be friends with you then you try to run away from this by creating fake scenarios. newjeans would be created friends from her mind, knowing they are her favorite artists or something like that

Her name is Hesseo and she starts the mv by watching videos from her highschool years. She is the main character of the story. During the mv she is recording newjeans dance and sing. They have fun together and newjeans even paint her cast. She talks to them about a crush she has on the dude at the water fountain etc etc. Basically they are very close. The plot twist is after the deer scene it is revealed that New jeans were just her imaginary friends and she alone the entire time. Eventually she becomes friends with the dude she had a crush on. Idk if I explained this well. Hope this helps 😊

Side B : In side B it is shown that that girl (Nwjns fan) wasn’t actually with them or having fun with them it was all scenarios that she had created in her head to escape from reality and then in side b reality is shown it’s like how us fans say : “Kpop saved my life, it helped me from depression” when in reality that’s not it idols are still happy without us they’re gonna live just fine reality is still lonely and dark. I first discovered kpop in 2011 and was sucked in. Once storyline mvs started to leave, so did I. Very happy seeing new jean, they truly are a breath of fresh air. Loving them :)

The MV is very visual centered, but when you look at it from a deeper perspective, it's actually really meaningful and almost sad. The MV shows this 6th person following NewJeans and their activities, they watch them dance, watch them talk to other people, and overall be lively and a great friend, to most of us, our Idols are like imaginary friends we sometimes like to confide in when life gets tough, and the MV shows us that. To everyone else, they see nothing, pure blank, but to us, we see NewJeans, and we hear their songs, and we see their dances, and sometimes we apply these things to our daily life. The producer for this group is smart . They are taking the 2000s vibe for their concept, the song is not to outbeat or over the top..... nor does it have loud music. they are giving us something that is not seen much in the kpop genre which is fresh.... they are taking the sweet, melo, vocals over crazy loud beats.. I couldn't enjoy my school life because my classmates used to bully me. And I become an introvert due to that. So gradually I stopped believing on friends. After that I still cannot make friends. May be one day I will get one or two true friends. Or may be not. But I am comfortable with myself going everywhere alone, doing many of the things alone.

The meaning is so deep, you see them writing on her the cast on her hand but then later you see that the cast is empty showing that she's been imagining them and she's just alone. You also see the places she recorded them at empty in the end.
This song was haunting and reminded me of being a teenager, when those big feelings come and you're not prepared for it. The vocals are gorgeous, the video is INCREDIBLE -- the video director did an amazing job of capturing that feeling of memories floating through our minds, in clips, a highlight reel, and the home-movie feeling of old vhs recordings that you pulled out of a box at Christmas time to watch again years later.

The creative team that have been guiding New Jeans since debut has done a truly INCREDIBLE job. These girls are getting the absolute best support in terms of concept, songs, choreography, styling and "branding". The "Ditto" sides A & B are two absolutely incredible MVs in terms of the concept and artistry of the MV cinematography and direction. The wistful, melancholic and slightly haunting sound/singing supports perfectly the message of the song. It was truly a stroke of inspiration to make this into two MVs, with both MVs needing to be viewed in order to gain the fuller, more deep meaning. The ending of Side A is so heartbreaking when it dawns upon the viewer the darkness that was obscured by the girl's vicarious joy she experienced through her imaginary friendship with New Jeans. For the second MV, the way I interpreted it, was that the girl finally realizes that it is unhealthy for her to live in an imaginary world in which the New Jeans girls are her imaginary friends, and she makes a painful decision to leave her imaginary world and to live in reality (she destroys the camera, walks with the boy, has relationship problems. etc.). That is also why the deer walks away in the corridor, as she no longer lives in a fantasy world. Then, years later the adult version of the girl returns to her childhood bedroom and reminisces about her past, including the happy memories of her passion for Kpop idols (symbolized by New Jeans). The girl (now a woman) is able to again let New Jeans back into her life in a healthy manner (with the 5 New Jeans girls happily reentering her room), as she is now more grounded and better able mentally to reap the benefits and enjoyment of Kpop without the unhealthy obsession that her less mature self fell into.

해린이를 닮은 고양이, 빵을 좋아하는 하니가 산 빵인 줄 알았는데 옥상에 놓여져있는 빵, 자신의 새끼 손톱에 발라져있는 매니큐어, 그리고 분명히 뉴진스가 낙서했었지만 깨끗한 붕대 등에 대해 의문이 들었는데, 이번 사태를 통해서 뉴진스가 데뷔까지 힘들었고, 만약 데뷔를 못했다면 사람들은 뉴진스에 대해 알지 못할 뻔 했다.. 분명히 존재했던 뉴진스를 기억하고 추억하는건 희수(민희진대표로 추정)뿐이었다..(데뷔를 못하거나 데뷔가 늦어지게 되면, 그만큼 뉴진스와 '그 시절'만의 예쁨을 희수만 기억하게 된다.) 이런 내용으로 보였습니다.
거기에 영상 초반에 어딜 떠나는 것인지 쌓여져있는 짐, 덮여있는 소파등이 민희진 대표가 쫓겨나거나 떠나는 점이 연상되었습니다.... (하지만 테입을 틀어 보는 뉴진스에 진심인 그녀..갓희진)
그리고 소녀가 왜 굳이 깁스를 한 상태일까를 생각해봤을 때, 민희진 대표가 고군분투했다고 생각이 들었습니다.
이번 사태에서 민희진 대표와 뉴진스가 지켜졌으면 좋겠습니다.

It truly is amazing how haunting, yet nostalgic, and endearing the emotions the cinematography conveys and I enjoyed it quite a lot and it also kinda reminds me of my childhood?? You know the sixth girl who is holding a camera. Her name is Hesseo and she starts the mv by watching videos from her highschool years. She is the main character of the story.
During the mv she is recording newjeans dance and sing. They have fun together and newjeans even paint her cast. She talks to them about a crush she has on the dude at the water fountain etc etc. Basically they are very close.
The plot twist is after the deer scene it is revealed that New jeans were just her imaginary friends and she alone the entire time. Eventually she becomes friends with the dude she had a crush on.
